The Snack Pack are hanging out in Branch's flat for the weekend. They played video games, watching movies, Lucha libre shows, telenovelas, and had tacos that Branch made for everybody to eat. Poppy noticed that Rose is writing something while they are having fun together.
"Rose, what were you writing today?" Poppy asked her.
"I am continuing my lessons in Spanish with Branch's abuelo but I noticed that some of the words seemed familiar in my local language, which is Filipino." Rose replied.
"Yeah, she easily learns Spanish because of the loanwords her native tongue has." Branch added as he walked to their table. "She has more to learn though."
"I am halfway there, but speaking these sentences is hard." She said.
"Well, Gary can teach you how to speak Spanish fluently." He said.
"I thought your grandpa is good with Spanish, so do your relatives." Poppy was confused.
"Yeah, I dunno if I could invite him here or we could visit him." Branch nodded. "Well, Gary could teach us a thing or two about Spanish."
A Yucatan parrot flew out of the plant and landed on Branch's arm. The Snack Pack is surprised by the bird when it appeared, wearing a pair of sunglasses.
"Branch, if this is Gary, then why having a plant in your room?" Poppy asked him.
"The plant is where he sleeps." Branch explained. "When he's in there, it looks like a living plant."
"Wow, that makes total sense." Rose gasped. "And those shades he's wearing actually fits him."
"Yeah, I had these glasses for months!" Gary squawked. "Hey, if you wanna learn Spanish, you can ask me, prima!"
"Prima?" Rose was confused by what the parrot called her.
"It means cousin." Branch answered. "When I introduced you to my family, my cousins call you the same word Gary said to you because…."
"Both our countries used to be a part of the Spanish Empire as the Viceroyalty of New Spain and we had connections because of the galleon trade." Rose ended.
"Si, you did well." Gary squawked again.
Suddenly, a strange thing started happening. Guy felt something and when he flew from his seat, he saw an egg.
"EEEEEEWWWWW!" He cried. "I laid an egg!"
"What is going on?" Branch gasped.
"Is it me or did the eggs just float in the air?" Poppy was shocked.
"Oh no!" Rose shivered as a lot of eggs pop out everywhere and the Snack Pack just realized what is going on.
"I know what is going on, we're being haunted!" Branch cried.
Suddenly, a loud clucking and a specter of a chicken appeared before them.
"AAAAAAIIIIIIIIIIEEEEE!" They cried. "CHICKEN GHOST!"
"Oh my guh! We handled the ghosts of the Dirtbags and the ghost of Hela but we are having a chicken ghost haunting us!" Smidge panicked.
"UGH! I always hate ghosts!" Rose growled.
They were chased out of the apartment and hid in the lobby. There, the Snack Pack are brainstorming how to chase out the ghost. Gary perched on Branch's arm and gasped.
"Phew, at least we never got egged, except for our wings." DJ Suki sighed.
"What happened, watashi no on'nanoko?" Satin and Chenille's parents, Akihito and Michiko Nakamura asked as they entered the building.
"Otōsan, okāsan, we had a ghost situation in Branch's apartment!" Chenille panicked. "It's so horrifying, it almost egged us!"
"I remember this spring festival in Japan called Setsubun." Rose remembered.
"You know?" Akihito asked her.
"Fuzzbert here said so, in that festival, the people would throw soybeans to chase oni or evil spirits away." She continued.
"It's worth a try." Branch sighed.
The Snack Pack sneaked back into Branch's apartment with a handful of soybeans and they started throwing them while chanting the word.
"Oni wa soto, fuku wa uchi!" They repeated as they throw the beans. They thought it was over but the ghost threw the beans back to them. They ran out of the apartment after their first attempt failed.
"Okay, it failed, what else do we need to do?" Branch sighed. "We got a huge ghost problem in my apartment."
"Ay mijo! What happened here?" A tall, middle-aged sprite flew in, asking him. She has dark purple curls, and brown skin with a pair of colorful monarch butterfly wings. She is wearing a pink dress with teal lace.
"Tia Victoria! We got a ghost problem in my apartment!" Branch complained.
"We know mijo, good thing we are prepared." She said as she took out some sage bundle from her bag. She used her powers to burn the sage and enters the apartment with it to shoo the ghost away. Gary enters the flat but a cushion flew right into his face. Victoria turned to see the bird being tormented instead. The Snack Pack rushed to see what is going on.
"Wait a minute, this ghost is haunting us, not because he's evil, he's got some business to do with…..Gary?" Branch gasped as he saw the parrot being tormented.
"I dunno what is going on?" Rose was confused.
"Gary, do you know this?!" Victoria scolded the bird. Everybody, even Satin, and Chenille's parents are also mad at him.
"We attended flight school but moved to a farm." Gary lied but a pin shot back at him, which he dodged but he later recognized the ghost immediately. "Oh! Santiago, is that you? Yup, that's him."
"Gary, did you wronged this poor chicken?" Branch yelled.
"No, he loved me." The parrot lied but he gets hit by a pillow again.
"I can't believe it!" Poppy gasped.
"Garcia Rivera!" Branch yelled.
"Okay, there was this one time I threw a stink bomb at his car." He confessed.
"Where is that car?" Rose growled at him.
The Snack Pack got Santiago's car and cleaned it but the ghost isn't satisfied. It continued to hurt Gary again.
"Okay, we cleaned his car but what else did you do to make Santiago angry?" Branch yelled.
They also tried other things that Gary messed up on the chicken to make amends with Santiago but still, the ghost kept haunting them and hurting him in the process. They tried to redo a birthday party for him, return his favorite things that the parrot stole, and many more but still, the ghost kept haunting Gary.
"Okay, what else did you do to make him angry?" Branch scolded.
The bird continued to lie about his life with Santiago but Victoria had an idea.
"I'll find it out why the ghost chicken is haunting us." Victoria smirked
"How will we do it?" Poppy asked her.
"I made this retrocognition potion and with some feathers from Gary, we'll see why the ghost is haunting him." She answered as she took some of Gary's feathers and tossed them into the potion. She poured the potion into a pot and purple fumes emit from the potion. Branch, Poppy, and Rose took a peek into the fumes, revealing the biggest reason why Gary is the target of the hauntings: he stole Santiago's glasses while he was comatose.
"I knew it!" Branch screamed as he flew to Gary and confronted him.
"Okay, Gary, you'd better set this right with Santiago." Branch yelled at him. "Give him back the glasses or you get tormented all night."
"Nuh-uh, no way!" Gary refused.
"You don't know what you unleashed into this apartment!" Branch scolded. "Your action towards the chicken caused us to be haunted."
"It's not me who gets haunted, we all do!" Rose added.
"We will never get our good night's sleep because of this!" Satin and Chenille scoffed back.
"Mr. Dinkles will be terrified all day!" Biggie cried. "I've been looking after Santiago all day in the veterinary!"
"Just give him the glasses right now!" Branch ended the scolding.
"Fine, take the glasses." Gary growled as he took off the glasses and the ghost grabbed them. It flew off, with everybody following him to the Everwing Veterinary Clinic and Animal Rescue, where Santiago was hospitalized. The spirit placed the glasses on the chicken and disappeared back to his body. Santiago woke up, surrounded by the Snack Pack, the twins' children, and Victoria.
"Okay, Gary." Branch said. "Apologize to the chicken now."
Gary immediately flew to Santiago and apologized for what he did to him. The chicken was so happy that Gary confessed about doing the bad things he had done to him and the two birds reconciled.
"Awww, what a happy ending." Rose squealed.
"Well Gary, I hope there are no other ghost chickens out there that you have wronged." Branch smiled at him.
"No way Bernardo, I promise!" Gary promised.
Santiago hopped into Rose's shoulder and whispered something in her ear. Suddenly, a contraption nearby made a low mooing sound, indicating that it wasn't Santiago the chicken whom Gary has wronged too. Everybody groaned while Santiago glared at Gary.
"What, you didn't ask anything about cows?" Gary smiled sheepishly.
"Not again!" Branch complained.
