Disclaimers: I don't own the Flash or any characters from it, and am making no money from this.

This is a fun rare paring I thought would be fun to play around with, as I think Jesse is a great and underdeveloped character, and while I like Barry and Iris as platonic friends, I prefer anyone over her romantically with Barry. This is just my opinion.

This is a what if… that takes place during the King Shark episode.

If you like or dislike this idea let me know but please be respectful.

Barry & Jesse

Chapter 1: King Shark

Barry walks to Jesse and Harry's room. He knocks on the door. Jesse smiles "Hey, Barry," Jesse says.

"Hey, I came to see if you're okay," Barry says.

"I'm not ready to talk about it yet, Barry," Jesse says.

"I'm so sorry. I wish, I wish I knew how to help you. If you need anything you need Jesse just tell me," Barry says.

"Yeah, I will. How's Caitlin doing?" Jesse asks.

"Not good, me and Cisco, we tried to get her to go home, but she wouldn't, so we just stayed with her until she fell asleep," Barry explains.

"I'm so sorry for you and her. If there's anything you need, well, you know where to find me," Jesse says.

Barry smiles. "Thanks."

Time skip.

Wally leaves the house. "Dad, you need to talk to him," Iris says.

"No, I get it. Look, I know you guys love me, but please stop telling Wally all this great stuff about me. Start telling him the truth. I'm not perfect. I make mistakes that even The Flash can't fix," Barry says.

"Okay, what happened with you on Earth-2? The truth," Joe says.

"I can't, okay. Harry told me that telling you could be risky, okay, time travel risky and I can't deal with screw something else up," Barry says.

Joe takes a few moments to process this. "Ok, if you can't talk to us, find someone you can talk to because this is going to eat you alive," Joe says.

"Yeah, okay," Barry says.

Time skip.

"Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the suburbs, King Shark shows up at your house," Cisco says.

"I mean I don't even know how he found me. It's not like I was the Flash when I was at home," Barry says.

"Must be a reason," Harry says.

"Yeah. Have you figured out a way to track King Shark yet?" Barry asks.

"No. I don't have enough information to create an algorithm," Harry replies.

"What about Dr. Lamden's research? Anything that can help us?" Barry asks.

"I didn't think so at first, but then I found something that might help us. Shark's are predators. In order to track their prey, they use what's known as passive electro location," Caitlin explains.

"Passive electro location?" Diggle asks.

"Yes, it's how they sense the bioelectric potential around a fish's body," Caitlin explains.

"King Shark senses electricity in Barry's system," Harry says.

"Okay, that explains how King Shark can track Barry. But how is that going to help us track him?" Lyla asks.

"We flip it. Instead of King Shark being the predator, we make him the prey, and we track him using active electro location," Caitlin explains.

"We reprogram our satellite to generate a specific electric field and then measure any electric distortions that correlate with a one-ton, walking shark," Cisco says.

Harry chuckles. "That'll help us get him. You'll help me out?" Harry asks.

"Sure," Jesse says.

"Ah, hey. Harry, could I talk to Jesse for a minute? If you're okay with it Jesse," Barry asks.

"Sure Allen," Harry says.

"Yeah," Jesse says.

"Great, let us know when you locate him, and we'll take it from there," Lyla says.

"Okay," Barry says.

"Let's get the team ready," Lyla says to John.

Barry and Jesse go down into the hallway. "So, what do you wanna talk about," Jesse asks.

"It's hard to explain," Barry says.

"Then take your time," Jesse says.

"Your dad said that telling people from this earth about what happened could influence things. So, I haven't talked to Joe, or Iris, or anyone about what happened there, and, it's been hard. Joe said that I need to talk to someone so this, and since…," Barry says.

"I'm from Earth-2 it won't be an issue," Jesse finishes my sentence.

"Yeah, so if it's not a problem, could I please talk to you," Barry says.

"Yeah. Please," Jesse says.

"I meet Joe's and Iris's doppelgänger. Iris she was the cop in the family. A good one, too. And Joe, he was a lounge singer," Barry says.

"Wait, Joe can sing?" Jesse asks.

"Yeah, he was amazing at it. He blamed me for Iris becoming a cop. Said she only became one to help her selfish husband's career. Me and that earth's Iris went to see Joe's perform. And that's when everything went wrong. Caitlin's doppelganger Killer Frost and the doppelganger of her late fiancé, deathstorm showed up. They were looking for me. They knew I wasn't supposed to be there. And they attacked and Joe got caught in the crossfire and he died," Barry explains. Jesse has a look of understanding. "I knew that it wasn't him, that none of that was my life watching it happen in front of me, living that? It didn't feel any different because it was all still real. And Jay warned me not to get emotionally sucked in when I went there. And now Joe West on Earth-2 is dead, because I showed up," Barry says, on the verge of tears.

"Barry, it's not your fault," Jesse says.

"Yeah, it is my fault. It's all my fault. Zoom, this King Shark, Jay's death. It's all because of me. And then I just left an entire world at Zoom's mercy," Barry says.

"Barry, that's on Zoom not you. Barry, you risk your life each and every day to protect people and, you've saved hundreds of lives. Zoom came here, Zoom brought King Shark, and Zoom killed Jay. So stop him, not because your responsible, but because that's who you are," Jesse says.

Time skip.

"hey, Barry could we talk?" Jesse asks.

"Yeah, of course. What would you like to talk about?" Barry asks.

"What Joe said to you, about not holding things in do they don't tear you apart. I think he was right for you and me," Jesse says.

"So you'd like to talk with me?" Barry asks.

"Yeah, I feel comfortable around you," Jesse says.

"So, how are you coping.

"Not coping. I know I had to leave. That there was no were safe to stay on my world, but I don't know how to proses it. To never be able to see my friends again, to not be able to say goodbye, to call, no way to even let them know I'm still alive. I just don't know how to move forward with this," Jesse says.

"I'm so sorry, Jesse. I promise, I'll do everything I can to help you through this," Barry says.

Time skip.

"Hail, hail, the gang's all here. What's good?" Cisco says, as he and Caitlin enter the room.

Barry sighs, standing in front of an object covered in tarp. "I need to apologize to you all. Um… last year, I made a choice to go back in time and save my mother and that choice had a lot of consequences that will haunt me for the rest of my life, just like I know it haunts all of you, too. Zoom. Jay's death. It's all because of me. But I own those choices. We're the ones who opened the door to Earth-2. We're also the ones who brought Zoom here. But we are the ones who are gonna stop him," Barry says.

"How? How are we going to stop Zoom, Allen?" Harry asks.

"I don't know yet. But those breaches aren't closed forever and we're not done with Earth-2," Barry says. Jesse looks at her Dad. Barry then walks over and pulls the tarp off to reveal Jay's helmet sitting in a glass box. "We will meet Zoom again. And the next time, I will beat him. Whoever that monster is," Barry says.
