This story is the sequel to "Lost sister" but can be read separately. I made I few changes in the previous story.

Jackie is an LVPD rookie, she is the sister of Catherine Willows. In the previous story, Catherine found out, that she has a baby sister.

I do not own the characters or show.

Review is always appreciated

It took 5 weeks to be fully healed from wounds she received on her first crime scene but now she was back on duty and again paired with her partner John.

They were short-staffed for almost one month because of some nasty virus, which plagued almost all cops. Jackie, John, and a few others who resisted served double shifts.

They arrived at the crime scene. Jackie was silently sitting on her seat with no intention to move. Her body was aching, on her left cheek it started to form a nasty bruise and she had a terrible headache, probably from concussion she suffered from many punches to the face. Her colleague John turned to her with sympathetic eyes.

"Come on rookie, let's go."

"Oh, jeez John, that man just beat the shit out of me, can't I just get a sec?"

´In their last scene, they were called to a bunch of drank fighting people. They tried to stop them, some of them ran, but two of them decided they wanted to take a fight and attacked Jackie and john. John was quite quick with arresting his attacker but Jackie has a little problem because her attacker was the bigger one. He slapped her on her face and punched her to her gut.

She managed to arrest him, but he punched her more times when she was wrestling with him on the ground. They called for another police car to assist them, to transport the arrested guys to the station, because they were called to another crime scene.´

"Sorry rookie, we don't have time, the CSI waiting for us to secure the scene."

"What? Wait the CSI is already here?" Jackie startled and turned on her seat to face her colleague.

"Yeah, but don't worry, I don't see your sister anywhere," John said with a smirk. During these past months after Jackie was attacked, she and John became close friends. He was like a father to her; he took her under his wings and took care of her in the field and teach her everything he knew about the police job. Jackie shared with him how much her relationship with her sister meant to her. John knew that Catherine was like a role model for her and she didn't want to disappoint her or scare her as she did a few months ago.

Jackie was relieved that her sister wasn't there to see her, she slowly climbed from the car and went to the house. Halfway she spotted a familiar figure and she froze in her movement.

"You said she's not here." She turned to her colleague and hissed.

"Ok busted, so I lied. But because if I told you the truth you would never exit the car." John said with a smirk. He knew her too well and he knew what she was thinking. "I know you don't want your sister to see you like this, with a face covered in bruises, but there is no other way. You know they can't start processing the scene before we tell them that the place is secure."

"I know that, but you should have warned me, I have sunglasses in the car. I just don't want her to be worried about me, not after what happened last time. " Jackie said sadly. They were standing not far from the house and arguing, they didn't realize someone approached them.

"Jackie? Is that you?" Jackie recognized that voice in an instant and slowly turned on her heels towards Catherine.

"Uhm, I, uhm hi Catherine," Jackie said with her head bowed down. She was trying to avoid Catherine's gaze. Behind her john was smiling and shaking his head. He knew this wouldn't work with her so he tried to turn Catherine's attention to himself.

"Mrs. Willows, hello. Sorry, we are late; we had a little complication in our previous scene. We get to our job immediately so you can too. "

"Officer Scott, hi. What happened? Did one of you get hurt?" Catherine asked worriedly. She liked John because he looked out for her sister.

"Ok, so I am not helping her much." John thought. "No, don't worry, we just run on a bunch of drunk people. They just didn't like to be arrested that's all. Two off them-" But before he could say anything else Jackie interrupted him.

"John. Uhm I-I need to go to-to the car to-to take the police tape." Jackie stuttered and turned away from Catherine and John. She needed to get away before John will tell Catherine she got into a fight. She made one step away but was stopped by a hand on her shoulder.

"Jackie?" Catherine said with an arched eyebrow. She didn't like Jackie's behavior; this was unlike her. She was avoiding her gaze and when she touched her shoulder, she felt Jackie flinched under her touch and started trembling a little. Something happening here. Catherine thought.

"Jackie, look at me please." She tried again. This time Jackie finally turned around and looked at her sister. She knew she couldn't avoid her forever.

Catherine gasped when she saw her baby sister. "Oh my god Jackie, what happened. "

Jackie flashed an angry look at John and started telling Catherine the events from where John stopped.

"Oh sweetheart, I am sorry this happened to you. I wish I could help you right now." Catherine said. She could see unshed tears and pain behind Jackie's eyes.

Jackie wishes that too. She so desperately wanted to be held in Catherine's arms, and she knew Catherine wanted to hug her and provide her comfort, but she was at work and on the crime scene and she was a police officer, she was supposed to be strong, right? They have to wait until home.

"Come on rookie. Let's get to work. You and your sister go to the garden house, I and Mr. Stokes take the house." John divided the work and they split to their directions.

Jackie never minded when she was near to the dead body, but now that smell didn't help her nausea. Jackie was staying in the corner of the room and watching when Catherine was investigating the body and place around while she was fighting with her dizziness. After a few minutes of silence, Catherine heard gagging noises from behind her. She quickly turned to her sister and saw that Jackie had wide eyes, with one hand on her mouth and her face lost al the color.

"Oh no, Jackie not here!" She sprinted to her and grabbed Jackie for her elbow and led her from the house. Jackie was wobbly on her legs she has to support her. On last time they approached a small bush and Jackie collapsed to her knees and vomited. Catherine kneeled beside her and started rubbing comforting circles on her back.

"I don't know Jackie why you didn't go to the hospital the moment after you left your last scene when you were attacked and knew something wasn't right with you." Catherine chastises Jackie. She didn't want to be so hard on her when she was sick. But she was angry Jackie let it go this far. "But now you will go to the hospital if I have to drag you there myself."

"I-I couldn't, we-we are short-staffed, its im-important we-we stay in fi-field if som-something hap –" Jackie didn't even continue her sentence when she was sick again.

"That's nonsense, nothing is important than your health. And besides, in your state, you can endanger your life or the others. Now you will sit here and I call an ambulance."

"I-I am sorry, it won't happen again," Jackie said with tears in her eyes, she collapsed against Catherine's chest and sobbed.

"Sssh, it's ok baby girl, don't cry you make yourself sick again. I am worried about you. I just found you, I don't want anything bad to happen to you ever again." Catherine said. She held her against her chest tightly and stroked her hair.

"I didn't want you to be worried. I-I am s-sorry. Please forgive me." Jackie wailed between sobs.

Catherine sigh, "I know honey, we will talk more about this later at home. I need to call the ambulance now, you will sit here and no more move, understand?" Catherine said, she kissed Jackie on her head and went to her car.

Jackie was sitting on the grass she didn't hear when someone approached her until she heard a familiar click of cocking gun. The nausea she felt a few minutes ago was quickly replaced by fear. She pulled out her gun from her holster and quickly turned around, but not quick enough. The pain shot thru her arm, she pointed her gun on the attacker and she pulled the trigger multiple times, but at the same time, the attacker fired again this time pointing to her chest. They were both shot to the chest and at the same time collapsed to the grass without any sense of life.

Catherine was in her car when she heard the gunshot. She quickly grabbed her gun from her holster and sprinted toward the noise. When she came to the place, she saw two people lying on the ground, one of them was Jackie. She kneeled beside her and quickly scanned her body for wounds. From the corner of her eyes, she saw John sprinting towards them with his gun ready. When he saw Catherine was taking care of his colleague he kneeled beside the shooter a felt his pulse. He felt none he shook his head when he caught Catherine's gaze and then went back to his car to call for help.

Jackie's arm was bleeding, Catherine saw that it was a deep scratch but nothing life-threatening. The bullet flew thru the flesh in Jackie's upper arm, narrowly missing the bone. Catherine was relieved to see that Jackie's bulletproof vest catch both shots aimed at her chest.

"Jackie, open your eyes." Nothing, Jackie was unconscious and Catherine found out that she wasn't breathing. Her breath was kicked from her body due to the shots.

Catherine placed Jackie in a sitting position and started undressing her, she took off her jacket and vest, she was hoping Jackie would start breathing alone if its only kicked breath. With a small force, she smacked Jackie's back a few times. After a few seconds, Jackie started coughing and gasped for air.

"Shh it's ok Jackie, try to breathe slowly, in and out slowly." When after a few seconds Jackie still struggled to breathe, Catherine sat on the ground behind her and positioned Jackie between her legs so her back was pressed against her front.

"Try to focus on my breathing Jackie ".

"I-I can't. " Jackie said and started coughing.

"You can come on. " Catherine said, and grabbed Jackie for her hands, and held them before her. She leaned her body so her chest was pressed much firmly against Jackie's back, so she could sense her breathing.

"OK now slowly in" Catherine took a deep breath "and out" she slowly exhaled. She repeated this motion a few times after Jackie started slowly copying her.

"That's it baby girl, keep breathing. "

Jackie was now breathing on her own, she positioned her body so she was fully laying against Catherine.

"I want to sleep Cath, my head hurts, I-I think a had to hit it when I fell."

"You can't sleep now honey; you probably have a concussion and it's not safe for you to sleep. The ambulance will be here soon, try to stay awake, ok?"

"I-I will try." Jackie said sleepily. But the moment she closed her eyes she fell to the unconscious.

"Damn it Jackie." Catherine cursed and laid the unconscious body across her lap and waited for the ambulance.

When Jackie woke up the next time, she was in the hospital. She released a loud cry from pain but quickly turned her head to the pillow to muffle the noise because she saw Catherine sleeping in the chair next to the bed. She was silently sobbing into the pillow for a while until she felt the bed beside her dipped under Catherine's weight and a hand on her shoulder and soft voice disturbed her.

"Jackie-" But before Catherine could say anything else, Jackie launched herself in her arms. She cried for a few minutes but then pulled away and sat far from Catherine against a headboard.

"I-I am s-sorry, p-please forgive me. This is all my fault." Jackie was shaking with sobs and her head was hung down.

"No Jackie listened to me." Catherine waited until Jackie met with her gaze. "There´s nothing to forgive you. You did nothing wrong, Jackie. You only made a wrong choice."

"Noo!" Jackie yelled. "You said it yourself. I could have endangered my life or the life of everybody else. And that´s what I did. He-He shoot me when I was puking my gut out. It could have been you instead of me. If you- If you stayed longer, he-he could shoot you when you took care of me. You-You have a daughter. What would happen with Lindsey if you – you-. I would never forgive myself. " Jackie stuttered thru her sobbing. "I don´t know what I was thinking, I am so s-sorry." Jackie wailed, she grabbed her hair and started banging her head against her knees.

"Jackie stop it!" Catherine quickly grabbed Jackie for her shoulders and prevented her from banging with her head more.

"I-I am s-sorry. P-please forgive me." Jackie was shaking with sobs and tears rapidly fell down on her cheeks.

"I forgive you, now come here." Catherine laid on the bed next to Jackie and opened her arms in invitation. Jackie immediately snuggled to her side and laid her head on Catherine´s chest. She finally rested in the safe embrace of her sister and sought comfort she craved for all day.
