Rey isn't a fool, no matter what Miari may think. After living through a war, birthing two children, and revolutionising the galaxy, there's little about the world that would surprise her.

She sees the way the young pilot watches Poe, starry eyes following his every move, and how she preens whenever he congratulates her on a right answer or clever insight. She hears the way Miari and her friends judge Rey whenever they think she can't hear.

But what she also knows, and thinks Miari knows deep down, is that it doesn't matter. The young woman can watch and follow and admire Poe all she wants, but he's Rey's husband. While some men don't put much value in wedding vows, Poe does. On a late spring day on Yavin-4, surrounded by their closest friends at the prettiest creek Rey has ever seen, they swore to love and hold one another for the rest of their lives.

So let Miari have her little crush. One day, she'll grow out of it and set her sights on someone attainable, and she'll be better off for it. Or maybe she won't, and she'll daydream about Poe forever.

Either way, that's all it will ever be.
