Linnie stood aside nervously as Cassia took a seat on their couch (after Linnie had begged her to sit down), waiting for Mama Cosma's return. She had just finished setting up her dorm room and hadn't planned on making the rest of her visit long.
"H-Honey, are you sure you want to go through with this? I-I don't know if it's safe..", Linnie squeaked, looking back and forth between the door and Cassia, who kept a rather firm look on her face. She nodded as she heard the door click once again, unlocking to reveal Mama Cosma (Nora) dresses in her usual navy suit, throwing the brown briefcase on the couch.
"Hey Grandma Cos-"
"Linnie, what's for dinner?", Nora said, looking at her husband expectantly, "Don't you remember the rule? I don't see any dinner on the stove. You're lucky the meeting went well."
"O-Oh dear me.", Linnie squeaked, shaking a bit, "Well...uh..I wanted to try a new recipe. Cassia helped me make it. It's in the crock pot on the counter, dear."
"Crock pot? You know damn well nothing good ever comes out or a crock pot. Why don't you be a useful husband for once and order a damn pizza instead? I don't want you poisoning me for dinner."
"I-I..yes Nora...of course. Um..I'll be right back. Cassia", Linnie mumbled before he left to the next room, leaving a disappointed Cassia staring at Nora.
"Wow..not even a hello?", Cassia asked. Nora rolled her eyes.
"What? He knows I like dinner hot and ready for me when I get home! He should've been lazy."
"Yeah, but you couldn't say hi to him? Like, the first time you said was demanding dinner. Like, do you not get embarrassed by your actions?"
"The hell's that supposed to mean?"
"Grandpa Cosma is obviously terrified of you and you know what...I'll keep my first point plain. I came by earlier but you had already left."
"Well then, quit wasting my damn time and spit it the fuck out. Don't you know the first college football game is tonight?"
"Yeah yeah whatever. Just wanted to ask, what we did to you. Why are you so nasty to me, mom and dad, mom's family, Poof, and especially your own husband for god's sake."
"Your grandfather's a no good, cheating rapist."
"Wait...what?"
"Yep. How do you think your father and his bastard siblings came around. It was evening, and Linnie had called me drunk out of his mind, and he just kept forcing himself on me until BAM! The fucking pregnancy happens!"
"I...I don't believe you. Grandpa's not the type.."
"Oh, but he is. To be quite frank, I don't even know if you're my real granddaughter. You know, Linnie did see this one yellow, ugly ass chick...don't remember her name though. And you and your father have hints of yellow green in you so.."
"Uh..", Cassia wasn't sure what to say at that point. The man she had just sat in the living room with and had lunch. That same relative that hugged her to calm her down, and read to her several times every time he came to babysit. Although she herself wasn't the type of victim blame, a strong gut feeling couldn't help but tell. Cassia that Nora was lying to her...not like it would be the first time anyways.
"I-I got the pizza ordered dear. I-I used your card. Is that ok?", Linnie asked.
"Yeah whatever. As long as the shit gets here."
"A-And I gave them a 15 dollar tip"
"You fucking WHAT"
As Nora started to blaze off onto her rant, Cassia decides to take the opportunity and leave the house, deciding to finish the conversation via phone call during the weekend. She poofed herself back to her new dorm, plugged her headphones in, and let the music notes take her away.
