Chapter 25:

Pass the Passimian

Location: Lush Jungle

"Dartrix, Pluck!" Hau's Dartrix flew into Totem Lurantis and stabbed it with its beak. This was the final blow; Totem Lurantis was down!

"Nice one Dartrix!" Hau saud, as Dartrix flew by Hau to give him a hi-five.

"Great one!" I told him.

"Indeed," said Professor Kukui.

Ah yes, I should mention. Me and Professor Kukui were called upon to be guests at Hau's Lush Jungle trial. Hau had just wiped the floor with Totem Lurantis.

"Congrats!" said Mallow. "So, without further ado, I must give you this!" Mallow held up a Grassium Z!

"This is great!" I said. "Now Dartrix can use a Z-move!"

"Heck yeah!" Hau said.

Mallow slowly handed the Crystal to Hau, when suddenly, something jumped out from the undergrowth and stole it. "Hey!" Mallow said.

Whatever stole it looked back at us and grinned, holding up the Z-Crystal. It was black and white with a long tail. It had what looked like a fruit shell on its head and another round fruit in its right hand.

"Who's that Pokémon?" I asked.

They form groups of roughly 20 individuals. Their mutual bond is remarkable-they will never let down a comrade.

Passimian has no known evolutions.

"Give that back!" Hau shouted. "That's mine!"

"You heard him! Roto!"

Passimian sighed and went over to Hau. It held out its hand with the Z-Crystal. "Thank you," Hau said. However, instead of giving it to Hau, Passimian threw it over us and another Passimian caught it.

"It's toying with us!" Professor Kukui said.

"They're playing Tepig in the middle with it!" I shouted. "Not funny, Hau earned that!"

Passimian didn't listen, and instead threw it over to us to another Passimian. They all ran off, but not when another Passimian turned to us, smacked its rear end a few times and then ran off to catch up with the group.

"No!" Hau said. "My Z-Crystal! Is this part of the trial?"

"No," said Mallow. "But it's not gone forever. Passimian are known to be quite naughty. We'll all work together to get it back."

"Heck yeah!" I said. "Trumbeak, go!" I sent out my Flying Type. "Scout the area."

Rotom Dex got up a picture of Passimian on its screen. "You're looking for thezze. Roto. They stole Hau'zz Z-Cryzztal!"

Trumbeak nodded and flew off into the undergrowth.

"Don't worry," I said. "We'll find it, I promise."

Mallow smiled. "And if the worst comes to the worst and we can't get it back, I'll give you a replacement!"

"No!" Hau said. "I earned that Z-Crystal fair and square! It's filled with lots of special memories of when I conquered the trial! A replacement will not do it justice! I will get the Z-Crystal back, because I won it!"

"That's the spirit!" I shouted. That was the Hau I knew; never taking the easy way out.

Trumbeak arrived as I said this. "Let's follow it," said Professor Kukui.

We followed Trumbeak through the green. Even as someone who had done the Trial, I was still concerned about getting lost.

"Keep an eye out for more of those thieves," I said.

"Roto! Izz that one?" Rotom Dex asked. We saw something in a tree.

"Hey!" Hau shouted. "Give it back Passimian!"

However, the shadow looked a bit too round to be a Passimian. Whatever it was jumped down and revealed itself to be a different Pokémon. It was white but had a purple cloak of fur covering it.

Oranguru (ヤレユータン)

Oranguru don't get along with each other, so they're always engaging in battles of wits to decide which on is superior.

Oranguru has no known evolutions.

"Sounds like the complete opposite of Passimian," said Hau.

"Oranguru," I said. "Have you seen any Passimian around here? They stole my friend's Z-Crystal."

Oranguru sighed. It grabbed a stone, and in the soil, it started drawing something.

"What is it doing?" I asked.

"Oranguru are extremely intelligent," said Professor Kukui. "There have even been records of Oranguru using human tools such as Pokéballs. It's one of the Alola region's most fascinating Pokémon."

Oranguru finished its drawing. It looked like a fan.

"Hey! Roto!" Rotom Dex, getting up a picture of Oranguru. We noticed that the picture included a fan that Oranguru didn't have. Oranguru pointed to it. "So, the Pazzimian stole your fan? Zzt zzt." Oranguru nodded.

"Then come with us!" said Mallow. "We'll get your fan back!"

Oranguru smiled.

"We understand," said Kukui. "It's part of you. Just like a Marowak and its bone or an Oshawott and its scalchop. We'll retrieve it, I promise!"

Eventually, we reached a giant tree with a bunch of Passimian in it. In a hole in the tree, we noticed a horde of belongings.

"My Z-Crystal!" Hau said, seeing the green diamond among the stuff.

Oranguru pointed and we saw its fan. "We need to get them back!" I said.

All the Passimian looked down at us and jumped down. We estimated that there were about 20. Well, we didn't estimate. We just took Rotom Dex on its word.

"How will we take them all down?" Mallow said.

"By taking them out one by one!" I replied.

Oranguru put up its index finger though. "What izz it? Roto?"

Oranguru went over to some bushes and picked out some leaves. They were quite large. It gave one to me, Hau, Professor Kukui and Mallow. "What are these for?" asked Mallow.

Oranguru got out another leaf and put it over its mouth. It started breathing. "Okay?" I asked.

Oranguru went over to one of the Passimian. It pointed to some leaves. "Go," it said.

"Did it juzzt talk?! Roto?"

"There have been records of Oranguru using very basic human speech," said Professor Kukui.

Passimian reluctantly did. Then, Oranguru used Confusion. Passimian got confused and fell down. Two Pokémon came running out; Paras and its evolved form Parasect. The Paras had two small mushrooms on its back whilst the Parasect had one big mushroom. Parasect also had lifeless-white eyes.

Mushrooms called tochukaso sprout from its back. They can be dried and powdered to make a medicine used to extend life.

The bug is mostly dead, with the mushroom on its back having become the main body. If the mushroom comes off, the bug stops moving.

Paras -Lv 24- Parasect

The frightened Pokémon started shaking, letting out orange spores in the process.

"It's Stun Spore!" shouted Mallow.

Oranguru put its leaf over its mouth again. "That's what it was getting at," I said. "Do it everyone!"

We put our leaf over our mouth; it worked! We were fine! The Passimian though, they were paralyzed after breathing it in. One of the Passimian dropped the Z-Crystal. Hau ran over and got it.

When the Stun Spore had died down, we took the leaf off. "Thanks Oranguru!" I said.

Oranguru nodded. "Thank," it grunted.

From the top of the tree, we heard calling. It was another Passimian who had waited at the top of the tree! It was holding Oranguru's fan!

"That's not yours!" Mallow shouted. "It's Oranguru's!" Passimian jumped down, seeing its paralyzed comrades. Passimian looked at Oranguru angrily.

"Hold on," Hau said. "I think this might be the perfect opportunity! Go Dartrix!" Hau sent out his partner.

Oranguru looked at Hau. Seeing the shining Grassium Z, it puts its hand out, allowing for Hau to show his stuff. "Go get em!" Mallow said. "This is what you do!" Mallow did the same motion as she had taught me. She put her hands together, then slowly brought them up like a blooming flower. "That's how you do it!"

"Okay Dartrix, ready?" Dartrix looked back at him. Passimian charged into Dartrix, taking recoil damage in the process.

"It'zz Take Down! Roto!"

Hau put out both hands in front as Dartrix did the same with its wings. They were covered in Z-energy. "It's time to present the power of the forest! Dartrix, BLOOM DOOM!" Dartrix called, as a giant meadow sprouted from everywhere.

"So pretty! Roto!"

Then, a flower came up from under Passimian. Energy from the flowers surrounded Passimian, and it culminated in an explosion in the shape of a rose. Passimian took a lot of damage.

"Nice one!" shouted Mallow. Passimian used another Take Down, but it missed.

"Now Pluck!" Dartrix pecked at Passimian, taking it down. It dropped Passimian's fan in the process.

Oranguru went over to the fan and picked it up. It smiled.

"I hope you all learned your lesson!" Mallow said.

"Thanks, Oranguru," I replied. Oranguru climbed the tree and looked at Passimian's horde. "I think Oranguru will be returning everything to the Pokémon of the forest."

"Good luck!" Hau said. "Okay, let's his the road!"

Location: Heahea City

"Finally back!" Hau said. "Those Passimian were a bit of a hold up, but hey! We've finished all the trials on Akala Island!"

"Not all," I said. "We still have our Grand Trial. But what do you say tomorrow we have the day off?"

"Good idea," said Professor Kukui. "In fact, tomorrow afternoon, there is someone I want you to meet…"

Rotom's Move Dex!

Passimian are some naughty Pokémon. Roto. They are a Fighting Type, so today, it'zz time for a Fighting Type attack!

Brick Break!

Light Screen and Reflect are movezz that can half damage. Roto. Suffice to say, they can be quite annoying with almozzt no way around them. Zzt. ALMOZZT! Enter Brick Break, a move that can break through the effectzz of Reflect, Light Screen and Aurora Veil! Roto. They can hang around for a bit, so getting rid of them workzz wonderzz!

Brick Break izz a TM so lotzz can learn it, but Pokémon that can get it by levelling up include Machamp, Pinsir and Scrafty! Roto!

And pleazze, do not uzze this movezz on your real mirrorzz at home! Roto! If you don't get seven yearzz bad luck, you'll certainly get a telling off!
