Ch 4 Explanations

Mikey tried to stay awake to make sure he kept an eye on Karai. But as hard as he tried the youngest turtle couldn't keep his eyes opened. But he was awakened by the sound of the door closing. "Crap Karai!" he cried out, throwing back the covers and dashing out the door. He headed for the exit where he heard Leo and Karai arguing softly.

"Leo I can handle things on my own!" Karai hissed. "I don't need your help!"

"I'm not going to let you do this alone!" Leo hissed back. "Its to dangerous Karai! You could get hurt or worse!"

"Leo..." Karai began. But she was cut off by Mikey dashing in front of her. "What the..." Karai exclaimed, surprised at seeing the youngest turtle there.

"Karai you can't do this!" Mikey cried out. "Leo's right its to dangerous!"

"Mikey I'll be fine," Karai said, sounding annoyed.

"No you won't be!" Mikey cried out, ignoring the shushing his brother and sister were giving him. "I'm serious!" the youngest turtle went on. "You'll be walking right into a trap Karai! The Shredder knows you'll come for him!"

"Mikey how do you know this?" Leo asked, giving his youngest brother a strange look.

"I just too ok?" Mikey cried out. "Its...its hard to explain but you've gotta trust me when I say something bad will happen if you go tonight!"

"Mikey I have to do this," Karai declared, reaching into her back pocket where she kept her smoke bombs. But Mikey saw and quickly snatched the smoke bombs away, surprising Karai. "How did you..." she sputtered.

"I knew you were gonna throw these," Mikey said, holding out the smoke bombs.

"But how..." Karai began. But she was interrupted by a voice saying, "What is going on out here?" the threesome turned and saw Splinter standing there with Donnie and Raph right behind him. "Father..." Karai began. But she was interrupted by Mikey's cry.

"Karai was gonna try and take down the Shredder on her own!" the freckled faced turtle cried out. "But me and Leo stopped her."

"Why would you do something that foolish?" Splinter asked, looking at Karai with wide brown eyes.

"I need my revenge Father," Karai growled. "That bastard killed my mother and stole all those years from us! He deserves death for that!"

"Yes I agree he needs to be punished," Splinter said, putting his had on Karai's shoulder. "But right now you are too emotional my child. You are not thinking clearly and that could lead to some very serious consequences."

"Yeah like getting mutated into a viper," Mikey muttered. The group looked over at the orange masked turtle in surprise.

"Mikey what are you talking about?" Donnie asked.

"That was the trap Shredder set up," Mikey explained. "Only it wasn't meant for Karai. It was meant for us and she accidently falls into the vat and gets mutated."

"Mikey how can you possibly know that?" Leo asked.

"I...uh saw it happen," Mikey said softly.

"What do you mean you saw it happen?" Karai asked.

"I...uh had a sort of vision of it happening," Mikey explained, not looking at his family. "I saw Karai fall into a vat a mutagen and get mutated into a viper. And I also saw a vision of Leo with his eyes all blood shot from Karai hitting him in the face with a smoke bomb before she snuck out."

"Well you were right about the smoke bomb," Leo said. "And about Karai trying to sneak out. So maybe you're right about the trap too."

"And maybe he's not," Karai chimed in.

"Do you really want to risk it?" Leo asked, looking at his sister. Karai opened her mouth to protest but she quickly shut it again when she realized Leo was right.

"I guess you have a point," the teen said, crossing her arms. "Alright fine I won't try to get my revenge tonight. You have my word of honor on that."

"Thanks sis," Mikey said with a smile. "That makes me feel a lot better."

"Yeah yeah," Raph grumbled. "Problem solved. Good job. Can we go back to sleep now?"

"I think that would be best," Splinter said. "Good night my children. I love you all."

"Night Sensei," the turtles called out as they headed to their rooms.

"Father wait!" Karai called out, running over to Splinter. "Uh would it be alright if I slept in your room tonight?

"I would very much like that," Splinter said with a smile. With that the father and daughter headed into Splinter's room to settle down for the night.

TMNTTMNTMTNT

The next morning Mikey awoke feeling really good. The orange masked turtle was thrilled that he had stopped Karai from getting mutated. But the other visions of the Kraang invasion and Leo getting attacked were still bothering him. The youngest turtle sat up in bed and stretched before getting out of bed and heading into the kitchen to get some breakfast. But when he looked around to his surprise he saw it was pitch black. "Guys?!" Mikey called out. Silence. "Hello?" he called again. "Leo? Donnie? Raph? Sensei?" Once again silence. "Where the heck is everyone?" he muttered. "Guys?" he called again only to be met with silence once again. Then Mikey noticed a piece of paper on the table. 'Gone patrolling be back soon.' "That's really weird," Mikey muttered. "Why didn't they come get me? And why are they patrolling in the daytime? And why would Splinter and Karai go with them? Something's really weird is going on here." With that Mikey walked into the kitchen and turned on the light and sat at the table thinking. After thinking for a few minutes Mikey decided to go topside. "If they're going patrolling then so am I," he said, grabbing his nunchakus and exiting the lair.

TMNTTMNTTMNT

A few minutes later Mikey was at the surface. But when he poked his head out of the manhole he was shocked to see it was pitch black. "What the..." Mikey muttered as he slowly exited the sewers. "How long was I asleep for?" he grumbled, looking around. To his great surprise there was no one around. Looking up Mikey saw a clock on the side of one of the buildings and to his surprise it read 10:52 am. "Ok I'm officially creeped out," Mikey said as he walked through the streets. Then he heard something buzz by his head. Whipping his head around Mikey saw something sliver go up in the air making a buzzing noise. "Ok what the heck is going one around here?!" Mikey cried out. "I'm calling my bros." With that Mikey got out his T-com and went to call Leo. But all he heard was static. "Seriously?" Mikey grumbled as he snapped his T-com shut. Just then another buzzing sound went by Mikey's head followed by two more. Mikey was shocked to see three Kraang in silver floating orbs right in front of him. Mikey screamed in both surprise and fear and jumped back. Suddenly more buzzing sounds were heard and Mikey looked up and to his horror he saw hundreds of Kraang floating above him. There were so many that they were blocking out the sun and thus making it pitch black. "No!" Mikey shouted, his blue eyes wide as he backed away and towards the manhole. "This can't be happening!" Just then he heard a loud, booming voice shout, "You will all bow before the Kraang!" Mikey looked and he saw the giant Kraang he had seen in his vision. Mikey gasped as the Kraang turned its sights towards him.

"And now you will die puny Earthling!" the Kraang shouted as its eyes glowed red and fire shot out of its legs right towards Mikey.

"No!" Mikey cried as he fell to the ground as the flames headed right for him.
