Hey Merlin Fans! I shall say this again. I'm sorry for such a long update. My schedule is packed, so it's hard for me to find time to sit down an watch Merlin. Hope you like this chapter!
I don't own Merlin. I only own Beatrice.
While two guards took Merlin to the jail, Beatrice sprinted back to Gaius's chambers. Unfortunately the door was locked. Not knowing what else to do, Beatrice started scratching the door with her caws.
Gaius! She called. Come quick!
Gaius finally opened the door and peered down at the cat. "Beatrice? What are you doing back early." Then he looked around. "Where's Merlin?"
He had a little run-in with Arthur. She explained.
Gaius raised an eyebrow. "How little?"
Merlin's in jail.
Gaius sighed. "What are we going to do with that boy? Very well, I'll see what I can do for him. Why don't you go and check on him for now."
Beatrice nodded. Alright. But please, hurry. I hate the smell of the dungeons.
Gaius gave her a small smile. "You hate the smell, but the dungeons are filled with mice and rats. And I know how much you love mice and rates.
The she-cat rolled her eyes in annoyance. One time. That was one time.
It took forever for Beatrice to find the cell Merlin was in. The sun had already started to rise, and Gaius still wasn't there. On a mount of hey, Merlin was busy sleeping. Beatrice looked around before sprawling out on the stone floor and closed her eyes. When she opened them, she turned her head just in time to see Merlin pressing an ear to the ground. Her eyes widened in wonder.
What are you doing? She hissed. Merlin jerked his head to look at her. Oh, how she wanted to scold him. If he had been a kitten, she would have only fed him mouth tails for the rest of the month. They were interrupted by a voice.
"Merlin!" It was Gaius.
Why so late? She asked, her tail lashing angrily. He gave her an apologetic look. Then he turned his gaze back to Merlin, who had stood up.
"You never cease to amaze me." He scolded. "The one thing that someone like you should do is keep your head down, and what do you do? You behave like an idiot."
Merlin looked down in shame. "I'm sorry."
Beatrice narrowed her eyes and nodded. You better be.
"You're lucky." Said Gaius. "I've managed to pull a few strings to get you released."
Those words lit up Merlin's face. "Oh, thank you! Thank you! I won't forget this."
Gaius wasn't finished. "Well, there is a small price to pay."
The smile on Merlin's face disappeared, while Beatrice seemed to be hopping in joy. Oh, boy! This is going to be fun to watch!
I was wrong. This isn't just fun to watch. It's hilarious!
Beatrice was right. Watching Merlin in the stocks and getting rotten fruit and vegetables was very entertaining!
"Oh, God." Muttered Merlin as a tomato was thrown at his head. Beatrice let out a yowl of laughter.
Apparently, the children thought it was funny too, because they never stopped laughing and throwing rotten veggies at Merlin's head. Beatrice swore a few drops were getting into his mouth, but that thought only made her laugh harder.
She wasn't the only one laughing. Ever once in a while, Gaius would walk around to watch. Like hsi cat, he would burst into laughter as soon as a tomato hit Merlin's hair.
Beatrice got her laughter under control when she saw a woman in red walking towards "poor" Merlin.
Gwen! The she-cat thought joyously. Guinevere was Lady Morgana's serving maid, but she was always like a second owner towards Beatrice. Gwen was always caring and nice, and sometimes managed to give Beatrice some of Morgana or Arthur's food.
Gwen made her way towards Merlin, who looked at his side to see her. "I'm Guinevere." She introduced herself. "But most people call me Gwen. I'm Lady Morgana's maid."
"Right." Said Merlin, trying to find a comfortable position for his head , but of course there wasn't one. "Well, I'm Merlin…" He reached out a hand to shake Gwen's. "Although most people just call me 'Idiot'."
Gwen shook her head. "No, no, no. I saw what you did. You're so brave." Beatrice shook her head in disbelief. Did Gwen just call Merlin brave?
"It was stupid." Merlin muttered, moving his head back in its original position.
"Well," Continued Gwen. "I'm glad you walked away. You weren't going to beat him."
Beatrice let out another laugh. So much for being "brave".
"Oh," Said Merlin, hurt. "I-I could beat him."
"You think?" Asked Gwen. "Because you don't look like one of those big muscly kind of fellows."
Merlin looked at her and paused. "Thanks?"
Gwen must have realized what she just said, "No! No. I'm sure you're stronger than you look. It's just Arthur's one of these read rough, tough, save-the-world kind of men. And, well…" She paused.
"What?"
"You don't look like that."
Beatrice let out another yowl of laughter and cried BURN!. It was loud enough for a few of the adults to look at her strange look. She just stared into their souls. Keep walking.
Merlin looked around. Then looked at Gwen, who moved her head closer to hear what he wanted to tell her.
"I'm in disguise." He said simply.
Gwen burst out laughing. Even Merlin cracked a smile at his own words. Gwen started talking again. "Well, it's great you stood up to him."
Merlin smiled. "You think so?"
"Arthur's a bully and everyone thought you were a real hero."
"Oh, yeah?"
Gwen nodded. "Mm-hmm."
Their moment was broken when the children came back. This time they had more rotten foods to throw at Merlin.
"Oh, excuse me Guinevere," He stated. "My fans are waiting."
Not wanting to be hit, Gwen nodded and walked away. Merlin started to wave, but was interrupted by another tomato hitting his head.
MERLIN MEETS GWEN! I don't know why this scene is my favorite scene in the episode. Maybe it's becomes Merlin gets tomatoes yeeted at him.
Another thing: am I the only one who wanted Gwen to end up with Merlin? I know that Arthur and Gwen make a great couple, but I keep thinking about that would happen if Merlin married Gwen instead of Arthur. I might do a one-shot about that.
Beatrice wasn't a bid part of this chapter, but she will be in the next one. Please not at it will take me a little to update.
My next update will be on A Ghost's Legacy. If you haven't checked that out, please do. It's a work in progress, but I'm proud of it.
Don't forget to favorite, review, or comment.
