I am so misunderstood.
Everyone blames me for tearing off Chrno's horns. I tell you, I had a good reason! I knew that he and Magdalene were meant to get together, and may I remind you, I was the one who gave him the means to meet her in the first place! I was the one who sent him to fetch her! Granted, perhaps it wasn't for the purest reason, but they would never have met if not for me. Besides, they sealed a contract, didn't they? I didn't know Magdalene had that little life force left! How was I to know that Chrno would go insane and almost die? Not my fault, I tell you.
This is what was supposed to happen. He and Magdalene were supposed to stay together for as long as they could, and wedding bells were supposed to fill the air. I, naturally, was supposed to be Chrno's best man. Magdalene would have looked so pretty in a wedding gown, and Chrno would have looked so handsome in a formal tuxedo.
And all of Chrno's fangirls blame me for giving his horns to Joshua and not returning them. Hey, look at it this way – if Joshua didn't receive the horns and go crazy, would Rosette have sealed the contract with Chrno? Like, obviously not. How stupid can you get? Rosette, Joshua and Chrno would have gone their separate ways sooner or later, and then you would have no more manga to read and no more anime to watch. What would you do then, huh?
You blame me for what happened to Florette, also known as Fiole. Well, it would be near impossible to explain Satella's appearance, right? C'mon, people… there had to be a reason for her to attack Chrno in the first place. Plus, Fiole was happy. She loved Joshua, didn't she? They were reasonably okay together, it's not as though I kept her in a torture chamber or something like that.
Let's see… what else am I blamed for? I can't remember for the life of me…
Ah, yes. The Apostles. Well, I didn't do anything unnecessarily cruel to them. The Angel of Fatima, Azmaria… she was fine at the end, wasn't she? Yes, I forced her to sing with the rest of them and fulfill my wish, but she survived. It's not like she died.
You know, I did like Magdalene quite a bit. She was a pretty nice girl, as far as humans go, anyway. Tolerable, at any rate. Quite a looker, too. But I knew Chrno liked her, so I gave way to him. I even made an effort to get them together, although it backfired rather spectacularly.
I can't imagine why everyone hates me. Don't you see? I'm just an innocent demon who's interested in matchmaking… I originally wanted to set up Jenai and Rizel… but Rizel died anyway.
Can you even imagine what Chrno Crusade would be like without me? Rosette and Chrno would never have met. Magdalene would not have died. How utterly boring… I shall go and make an appointment with my manicurist now – it's terribly hard to maintain proper demon talons. You know, we have this reputation of ripping peoples' heads off – blood gets onto your skin and nails. I see the manicurist at least once every three days.
Well, now you know how crucial a 'villain' with good intentions is to the story!
