A/N Well folks once again its been 4 chapters in a row without reviews. But I'm going to continue anyways only because I know there are people that are reading this and not reviewing. Here's ch 18 for you all to enjoy.

Ch 18 On the Verge of a Breakdown

"I'm waiting," Karai said, crossing her arms. "What the Hell do you think you're doing?"

"I could ask you the same thing Karai," Donnie said. "Where do you think you're going?"

"Where ever I damn well please," Karai snapped back, glaring at her purple masked brother. With that she turned back around to leave. But Donnie grabbed his sister's arm once again.

"I know exactly where you're going," Donnie said. "You're going to confront Shredder. Am I right?" Karai's eyes went wide with surprise as she heard her brother's words. But the dark headed girl said nothing in response. "Karai I think it goes without saying that confronting Shredder alone is a really bad idea," Donnie said.

"He needs to pay for what he's done Donnie!" Karai shouted, balling up her fists. "He lied to me my entire life and stole me away from my true family! And now he nearly killed Mikey! He's not going to get away with that! He's going to pay and I'm the one that's going to make his pay!" With that Karai pulled away from Donnie. But by now Leo and Splinter had come out to see what all the shouting was about.

"What's going on?" Leo asked, rubbing the sleep out of his eyes.

"On not much," Donnie said, the sarcasm dripping. "Just stopping out dear sister here from doing something crazy and getting herself killed!" The group gasped and their eyes went wide.

"What do you mean Donatello?" Splinter asked, looking from his gap toothed son to his daughter. Then his brown eyes went wide as he realized what Karai was going to do. "You were going to confront the Shredder alone were you not?" Splinter looked directly at Karai when he said this part.

"Father he has to be stopped," Karai declared, not even bothering to deny it.

"Karai are you insane?!" Leo cried out, causing everyone to look over at him. "Or just plain stupid?!"

"Leo I..." Karai stammered, surprised that the blue masked turtle was speaking to her like that.

"Have you forgotten what Mikey said before?" Leo demanded, getting right in front of his sister and jabbing his finger at her. "About how if you confront Shredder alone then something really bad is going to happen?"

"I didn't forget that Leo," Karai said, the irritance clear in her voice.

"It sure as Hell seams like you did!" Leo cried out, his face inches from Karai's. "If you do this Karai then it'll be like this whole thing was for nothing. That Mikey nearly died for nothing. And I'm not going to let you do it! So get your ass back inside or so help me I'll drag you back in myself!" Everyone blinked in surprise. Leo wasn't one to go off the handle like this. But everyone knew the oldest turtle was stressed and running on very little sleep. So they decided to let it go for now.

"Alright Leo you win," Karai said, shutting the lair door. "I'll stay. But only because I don't want you to have a full on melt down."

"I am perfectly fine!" Leo snapped, throwing his hands in the air in frustration. "I just can't take another bad thing happening." Then as if on cue they heard April's frantic cry for help. Exchanging looks of both fear and concern the group raced into Mikey's room. To their horror they saw April on top of Mikey, doing compressions on his chest. The rest of the group raced into action. Donnie ran to help April as did Splinter. Raph and Casey came into the room to see what was happening.

"Oh God Mikey," Raph muttered, sinking down into a nearby chair.

"No," Leo whispered, taking a step back. Then he cried out in a much louder voice, "No!" Everyone turned and looked over at the oldest turtle as he raced out of the room, the tears flowing down his face.

"Leo wait!" Raph cried out, trying to get up. But a lightening bolt of pain in his shell quickly made him sit back down.

"I'll go after him," Karai said as she ran after Leo.

Moments later Karai had caught up with Leo, who had run into his room and thrown himself on his bed as he sobbed uncontrollably. "Hey Leo its alright," Karai said gently as she lowered herself on the bed and rubbed Leo's shell.

"No its not Karai," came Leo's muffled voice. "Everything's so screwed up."

"Leo I promise you everything is going to be alright," Karai said.

"Mikey's dying Karai!" Leo cried out, startling his sister. "Mikey's freaking dying and you're sitting here telling me everything is going to be alright?! That's bull shit and you know it!" By now Leo had sat up and he was in Karai's face as the angry tears flowed down his face.

"Leo I..." Karai stammered, shocked to how her blue masked brother was reacting.

"I don't want to hear any more bull shit!" Leo shouted, wiping away the tears. "Least of all from you!"

"Leo.." Karai tried again. But once again she was cut off by her oldest brother's furious shout.

"Don't even pretend you care Karai!" Leo shouted. "Because I know you don't!"

"Leo I do care," Karai said her brown eyes wide.

"No you don't!" Leo cried out, getting to his feet. "If you really cared then you wouldn't be acting all stupid and ignoring Mikey's advice when he risked his life to make sure that we wouldn't die! And now he's dying because of those feelings and its all our fault!" With that Leo broke down and dropped to his knees as he sobbed. Karai knelt beside her brother and put her hand on his shoulder. But to her surprise Leo threw his arms around her and sobbed. Moments later there was a soft knock on the door.

"Hey," Donnie said, sticking his head in the room. "I was..." Then he noticed Leo's condition. "Leo what's wrong?" the purple masked turtle, kneeling beside his oldest brother and putting his hand on Leo's shoulder.

"Everything," came Leo's muffled response as he pulled away from Karai and rubbed his hands over his face.

"Leo its going..." Donnie began.

"Donnie please don't tell me everything is going to be alright," Leo said with a sigh. "I think if hear that one more freaking time I'm gonna loose it."

"But Leo..." Donnie tried again.

"Donnie unless you're going to tell me that's Mikey is awake then I really don't wanna hear it," Leo said, getting to his feet. Then he looked over at his purple masked brother with hopeful blue eyes and said, "Is Mikey awake?"

"Well no he's not," Donnie said. "But..."

"Then I don't wanna hear it," Leo said, climbing into his bed. "I just want everyone to stop pestering me and leave me the Hell alone!"

"Leo maybe you should..." Karai began.

"Why are you even still here?" Leo growled, glaring at Karai. "I don't want or need you here!"

"Leo..." Karai tried again.

"Just go away!" Leo snarled, pulling the covers over his head. "I don't really feel like looking at or seeing you so just do yourself a favor and leave!" Karai and Donnie both blinked in surprise as they weren't used to Leo shouting like this.

"Leo..." Donnie tried.

"Just please go away!" came Leo's muffled voice. "I just want to be left alone." Karai opened her mouth to argue but Donnie put his hand on his sister's shoulder.

"We should leave him be," the genius turtle said. "He's on edge right now and needs to rest." Karai nodded in understanding and the two siblings left so Leo could get some much needed rest.
