Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of Seeing through Hate. Enjoy the 1200-word chapter. I don't own Naruto, Masashi Kishimoto and a few others do.
Kaito sighed and hummed before he looked at Hanabi. The family doctor gave the boy some medicine and sent him off.
"I really don't want to deal with having my body messed up." Kaito stated to Hanabi who hummed, knowing the wounds weren't that bad.
The doors opened which caused Hanabi, Kaito, and the rest of her staff to bow as Hiashi entered the room. Kaito waited until he was allowed to rise.
The elder Hyuga allowed it a few seconds later. He watched as his youngest daughter and her staff rose from their positions.
Kaito was surprised to see the elder Hyuga. After the war? The man had grown cold and reclusive. Kaito couldn't blame him after what happened to Neji. It didn't stop the man from leading the clan.
Leader of the clan
"Father." Hanabi said as professionally as she could. Hiashi looked over Kaito and her other servants.
They stood at attention, waiting for a command from the clan leader.
"Did you inform your staff of the newest bit of information?" Hiashi questioned Hanabi who nodded and gave a wry smile.
"Yes, father." Hanabi stated before turning to Kaito. "Kaito just decided to question why it's important since he's under my command anyway." Hanabi stated which called the small inch of a smile to emerge from the features of his face.
"Only because you are my charge no matter what, Lady Hyuga." Kaito stated to Hanabi who only rolled his eyes.
"Then it doesn't matter that she will be the leader of the clan?" Hiashi questioned and got a head shake from Kaito.
"You assigned me to serve your daughter as if she were you, Lord Hyuga." Kaito put in before taking a breath. "If Lady Hyuga were to take charge of the clan? I do not see it as a major development to my duties… As said duties revolved around serving Lady Hyuga as if she was master of the Hyuga Clan." Kaito stated which caused Hiashi to sigh.
Hanabi turned to her friend with a roll of her eyes. Kaito fell silent, being respectful to the master of the Hyuga clan.
"Just because she is your master doesn't mean that things will stay the same." Hiashi stated to which Kaito bowed respectfully.
"Hanabi is my charge." Kaito stated and turned to her. "If she is master of the clan? I will serve her as if she was a goddess." Kaito stated to which Hiashi turned to Hanabi.
"Hanabi, come with me. We have more things to discuss." Hiashi put in as he walked out of the room.
Hanabi followed after her father who hummed. Kaito hummed and blinked before one of the other servants turned to Kaito.
"Do you have to kiss up to the master?" The servant asked while Kaito shook his head back and forth.
"I don't kiss up to the master at all." Kaito put in and clicked his tongue against the roof of his mouth.
"You follow her around like a lovesick dog." The servant responded which made Kaito sigh and roll his eyes.
Kaito hummed and shook his head before he turned to the side then back to the guard.
"She is my mistress." Kaito stated to the servant in question. "And it is part of my duties to tend to said mistress… Or did you forget that it is part of the oath we swore." Kaito stated to which he crossed his arms.
(With Hanabi and Hitachi)
"You are aware of the duties?" Hitachi asked as he looked at his daughter.
"Yes, father." Hanabi stated to which her father nodded and looked at his daughter. "May I ask a question?" Hanabi asked to which she was given a nod by her father.
"Why ask me to be present today?" Hanabi questioned her father. "My servants aren't usually the ones reporting to you… You gave them orders to follow me." Hanabi stated to which her father hummed and nodded.
"Yes, that is true…" Hiashi stated and turned to the side. "But you should know that I'm not long for this world." Hiashi stated to which Hanabi sighed.
Hanabi knew her father's time on this planet was drawing to an end. Even the mightiest warrior of the clan wouldn't be long for this world.
Still? Hanabi didn't want her father dead, nobody wanted their father to die… It wasn't far considering that Neji was no longer upon this world.
"I'm also aware of your bond with Kaito." Hiashi stated to the younger Hyuga. "You and him have a very close link, do you not?" Hiashi questioned his daughter.
Hanabi nodded to which her father smiled at. If he was much younger? He knew he would have hated the boy. He disliked anything that stood in the way of the clan.
But losing Neji had humbled him enough for him to wonder why he was like this. Plus, he knew Kaito cared for Hanabi and their bond went far beyond a servant and their master.
"He is my most valuable servant." Hanabi stated as Hiashi nodded and smiled.
"He is more than that and you know it." Hiashi responded and brushed off his arms while looking at his daughter. "I'm glad you have a friend… I was wrong to try and keep you from having friends." Hiashi stated to which his daughter could only blink.
Hiashi allowed himself a mental chuckle at this. His daughter didn't seem to know what had happened. Hiashi was not stupid enough to believe his daughter didn't have feelings or care about someone like Kaito.
Hanabi blinked as Hiashi turned and brushed off his coat.
"Get your friend and bring him here." Hiashi ordered and got a nod and bow from his daughter.
Hiashi wondered if he should give his daughter a push in the direction she wanted to go.
Still? Hiashi knew that within a week or so? He would have to retire from his duties as head of the clan. The clan doctor had made it clear that he was no longer going to be able to do much more then advise Hanabi.
He had made sure he'd finish Hanabi's training to be the head of the clan in the meantime.
And he also planned to make sure that Hanabi knew she'd have his full support if she chose to be with Kaito or anyone else.
"That girl thinks I'm a senile old man." Hiashi stated to himself and hummed with amusement.
Hiashi could only wonder if Kaito was smart enough to realize that his daughter held feelings for him.
He cracked his fingers and looked to the side. Hiashi would await his daughter's return.
Author Notes
