Title: Enchanted
Summary: He enchanted her above all.
Word Count: 288
Rating: G
Warning: None. Except maybe extreme sappiness?
Disclaimer: The Secret Garden is not mine. It's all Frances Hodgson Burnett's. The only thing that belongs to me is this fic. I don't intend copyright infringement. If someone plans to sue me in the future though..would they be happy with a broke teenager who has pockets full of lint?
Author's Note: This was written for my friend, Emily - for those who are curious, she's known as EmilyFairy here. She requested that I write a Mary and Dickon drabble, and gave me a prompt, which was flowers. I wrote the rest. And as you can see, the drabble turned into a ficlet..heh.
And just to clarify.. "she" is Mary, "he" is Dickon.
Anyway ... this is dedicated to Emily and all the MD lovers out there. You rock.

She had always been enchanted with the seemingly simple things in life.
It was a part of her; as far as she could remember she had never gone for anything fancy and rich. After seeing her mother be adorned in all sorts of beautiful and exquisite dresses, and being attended to by servants who admired her, she had become disgusted by it.
She was not girlish at all; marriage and becoming a proper lady fit for society had no importance to her. She would rather play around in the garden, like a wild child, than to learn etiquette and the proper way to greet someone in high society.
That type of thing didn't interest her at all; she was bored and frustrated with it. Gardening, playing jump rope, living life to the fullest - that was what she loved to do.
And she wasn't impressed with sparkling diamonds and lovely frilly dresses; the simple beauty of delphiniums and campanulas was what caught her eye.
Nature itself impressed her; it could transform from something ugly to something breathtaking. It had a power that had a strong grip on her senses; she was amazed at how lovely it just was.
Nature wasn't fancy at all; it was pure and simply beautiful. In a way, it reminded her of him. The boy she considered to be an angel; her confidante, her best friend.
He was the one who listened when she confided all her troubles in him; he alone had her trust - she had given everything of herself to him. Her heart, her trust, her love - everything. He was the only one she allowed to get close to her -
- and let herself get close to.
He enchanted her above all.
