Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of Seeing through Hate. Enjoy the 900-word chapter. I don't own Naruto, Masashi Kishimoto and a few others do.
Kaito was up and onto the rooftops instantly. The safety of his master spurred him into action faster than anything. The compound was put in high alert instantly as every single guard around the area scrambled to protect the Hyuga.
Kaito wanted to return to Hanabi's side, but if he knew the other members of her staff had it handled. His job was to protect Hanabi, and the best way to do that? Was to chase down this assassin. You'd have to be an idiot to try and take a Hyuga on in a head on fight.
But Kaito had a feeling whoever was bold enough to try and take her down was either far too arrogant for their own good… Or they had sent one of their best.
"Slave of the Hyuga." The assassin spat; their words muffled slightly by the mask they wore over their visage.
"As opposed to a honorless thug such as yourself?" Kaito hissed, surging forward, his hands raised in a combat stance. "You were here to kill someone who you barely know? Why? Someone spat enough ryo into your hand?" Kaito asked as he blocked a kick from the man, one which lacked the balance and grace of his training.
The assassin rolled, spinning to throw a kunai at Kaito who plucked it from the air. Kaito rolled his eyes at this, they hadn't the skill to match. They weren't picked to try and fight Hanabi directly, they were picked to stab in the back like a coward.
Kaito blocked a punch, but was forced back by another. He turned and knocked the man to the ground with a sweeping kick before trying to bring the kunai down. He knew he wouldn't get any information out of the man to begin with. The man's allegiances had to be to something insane.
Still? The man was good enough to block one of his stabs. The assassin backflipped onto his feet as he began to draw another from a sheath on his arm and spun to face him.
"And yet you slave yourself over her like a wounded dog." The assassin spat to which Kaito only rolled his eyes, shaking his head and looking at this assassin with pity.
"You don't have any loyalty to anyone but yourself, I don't want to hear it." Kaito stated, looking around as a squad of guards joined him. "Surrender, or we will use lethal force against you… And trust me, you're not going to take on the entire place and win in a fair fight. I know exactly this will go." Kaito added while he nodded.
The assassin growled, unsure what curious as he thought about his next move. He looked at the warrior while growling in anger. He turned and fled into the night, Kaito contemplated the idea of chasing after the assassin, curious as to if that move was worth it. He thought about it for a moment more, leaving Hanabi's side had already left her vulnerable enough as it were.
He couldn't do that to her, nor would he at all. He allowed the guards to rush past him, weapons raised towards the intruder at this moment. Kaito knew there would be another time to focus on this issue, but for now? His mind lied with Hanabi who was possibly in danger at this time, to delay now? Kaito would be putting her in further peril for no real reason.
Kaito flipped from the roof onto the ground, darting towards her section of the compound. Kaito rushed past servants and additional guards who all seemed to think about the assassin more than more constantly about their other issues. Still? Kaito questioned what the assassin were doing at the moment.
"Hanabi." Kaito muttered as he rushed further into the rest of the compound, his speed building with every second. "They wouldn't have gotten her. She's too powerful for any lone assassin and anyone stupid enough to try would know that." Kaito added, cracking his fingers as he sighed and looked over his shoulder at the guards who were busy running after the assassin.
He questioned who hired this guard, who had brought them into the conflict like this? Were they hired to do some of damage to the Hyuga? It made him curious if they had some hidden enemies they didn't know about currently. Then again? These politics were not what he regularly focused upon; it was something she would really know more than him at the end of the day.
"Hmm, she would know this person who tried to kill her. I believe it would be more prudent to ask her." Kaito stated to himself, rubbing his temples as he did so.
Still? He didn't know what happened next. If they hit next? he needed to think about the next agent. He continued to think about the next move.
