ON WITH THE STORY

"Ah- chu!" *Sniff* "Argh! Can we please not sit in the middle of the flower field," Catra complained to Perfuma.

"Nope. These flowers are our helpers today. Just relax and let their sweet scent carry away all your tension." The freckled blond princess smiled serenely, not bothered by Catra's outburst. She got used to the Magicat's sometimes abrasive personality years ago.

Grumbling still, Catra closed her eyes and tried to ignore the tickling in her nose, and on the russet tuft of her ears, and on her tail – actually all this fresh air kept ruffling her fur and making her twitch! At this point she couldn't tell if she wanted to run away or fall over and roll around in the green meadow to expel all the excess energy she had been feeling lately.

"Breathe," Perfuma's soft reminder evened out Catra's racing mind for a moment, long enough she could start the meditative breathing exercise they always started with.

Slowly, her tail stopped jerking around and her ears settled down. Catra felt good, less restless. So she started talking about what was running through her mind for the last week.

"So Adora has been away for over a month and I... I! Damnit, I miss her stupid face and her stupid smile and her stupid kisses!"

Perfuma bit her lip, hard, to stifle the giggles that rushed to escape. When Glimmer had reached out, pleading for her fellow princess to take the 'Horde Scum' off her hands for the week the flower princess did not need to take more than one look at her friend to recognize what was going on.

"She is scheduled to be back tomorrow," Perfuma offered.

"I know! But – ugh – I am totally restless lately and don't know if I can wait that long before I burst into a million pieces!" Flinging her arms over her head and falling backwards, Catra gave into her instincts and began rubbing her body all over the meadow flora.

Perfuma watched, smiling, and let her friend be caught up in the momentary relief. She mused silently how adorable the hybrid people of Etheria could be. Scorpia, during a certain season, would randomly burst into dance moves, shuffling back and forth snapping her claws and making conversation to keep Perfuma's attention solely on her. The Plumerian Princess loved that time of year.

And, from a combination of gossip and witnessing Adora's near constant euphoric attitude at times, Catra has her own needs that her wife takes care of.

The purring and murmurs gradually die down until Catra rolls upright again, bashfully avoiding looking at her friend and teacher. "Sorry."

Shaking her head with a smile, Perfuma resumed their lesson watching as Catra's energy levels fluctuated through intervals of rest and activity. As she was instructing Catra to take a moment to focus on the Sun's warmth, she felt a tingle of awareness flutter in the back of her mind.

'A visitor' 'powerful one' 'shines' 'hello' 'welcome'

Someone had entered the edge of the meadow, making the flowers and grasses shout out in joy at the proximity of the bearer of the Heart of Etheria, basking in her unconscious energy output.

Perfuma smiled widely and opened her eyes, making sure Catra was still breathing evenly and concentrating on her task. Wiggling her fingers in a silent hello, Perfuma was acknowledged by a sly smile and short wave but Adora's attention remained locked on the Magicat sitting cross-legged in the grass.

It was obvious the moment Catra knew there was someone behind her. Her ears swiveled all the way back and her eyes snapped open at the same time, heterochromatic irises disappearing as her pupils enlarged. Sensitive nostrils flared with the input of a familiar scent under the layer of flower pollen in the air, while her lithe body automatically shifted into a crouch at the ready to pounce or run – depending on the situation.

Then she froze as her senses registered exactly who was now behind her.

"Hey Catra." Even Perfuma flushed at the lowered timbre of Adora's voice when she greeted her wife in their usual teasing way. "Miss me? - OOF!"

The Magicat didn't even deign to reply, she simply turned around lighting fast and tackled the taller Etherian to the ground. Catra would be embarrassed to have anyone else hear her purring and growling as she nuzzled Adora, rubbing her scent all over the blond's face, neck, and hands but she was blind to Perfuma by this point.

And when the nuzzling became open mouthed kissing coupled with pelvic grinding by both women, Perfuma took her cue to leave.

"Welcome back, Adora. Catra, see you in a couple weeks."

Neither noticed their friend and that was just fine. Perfuma had other plans for the rest of her day now that she suddenly found herself with an open schedule.

'Maybe Scorpia and I can go dancing tonight.'
