Goh's POV:
"It's finally here!" Goh said, looking at his Rotom Phone. "What is?" Ash asked. "The e-mail from Project Mew!" Goh answered. "Visit our Laboratory in Sinnoh" Goh read from the e-mail on his phone. "Are you coming with me?" Goh asked Ash. "You kidding me? I said I'd cheer you on!" Ash said, smiling at Goh. "Thank you!" Goh said, as they then both went to Sinnoh. "The map says this should be the right place..." Goh said, looking at his phone. "But that doesn't really look like a lab" he added, as they looked at some weird white building. When they looked closer however, they saw Gary talking to some woman. After Gary stopped talking to her, he walked away, and saw Ash and Goh. "Oh? Who else would it be but Ash, and... uh..." Gary said, pretending not to know Goh's name. "Goh!" Goh said, agitated. "So you're trying out, too. I heard the news. Seems even an inept trainer can try his luck if he has a recommendation from a professor. But only what you do from here on counts" Gary said. "What are you implying?" Goh asked. "I'm saying Project Mew is not exactly going to be easy. Well, try your best, at the very least" Gary said, as he walked past Goh and left. "He makes me furious!" Goh yelled at Ash. "That's Gary for ya..." Ash laughed. After that, both of them went in front of the door to the empty lab. "Hello!" Both boys said in unison. No response. "Excuse me!" Goh said. Afterwards, the door was opened by a Mime Jr, and a man carrying boxes. "Oh, good timing!" The man said, as he looked at them. "Can you help me move these?" The man said. "Uh..." Goh said. "Sure!" Ash replied. After that, the man gave them a box each and had them follow him. "Th-This is heavy..." Goh said, as he was practically blushing from being unable to lift it. Afterwards, the man brought them a room within the lab, and they put the boxes down. "Everything in this room is data on Mew" he said. "Everything?" Ash was surprised. "Yes. But it's not enough" he told them. "I never did introduce myself. I'm Amaranth. The leader of Project Mew" he introduced himself. "Leader?!" Ash and Goh said in unison, both surprised. Amaranth held out his hand for a handshake. "Goh! Nice to meet you!" Goh introduced himself and shook Amaranth's hand. "Professor Oak told me about you. You can handle the rest" Amaranth said, as he turned to someone who was standing behind Ash and Goh. "Right!" That someone said. "The woman Gary was talking to!" Ash said, as he turned around to face her. "The name's Danika" She introduced herself. After that, she took them both to another room, and explained Project Mew to them. After she was done, she pressed a button, and suddenly a trapdoor opened behind Ash and Goh. They looked at it, and they were flying over a mountain of snow! "We're flying?!" Goh screamed in confusion. They realized that the lab was actually a flying vehicle. "Goh. We will have you catch an Alolan Ninetales in this area. I've given you your mission. It's up to you to decide what to do next" Danika said. "I'll catch it, no question!" Goh said. "That's what I like to hear!" Ash said to Goh, putting his hand on Goh's shoulder. "You will be given special outfits to help with the cold. Go change" Danika said, as she handed them two pairs of matching orange clothing, fit for traveling through snow. They went to a room alone, and together they took of their clothes to change. "Are you excited for your first mission, Goh?" Ash asked, as they were both in their underwear (Goh wearing panties, of course). "Sure I am! And... thank you for coming with me..." Goh said, blushing. "I'll cheer you on every step of the way Goh, just like you're doing for me!" Ash said, as they then changed into the orange outfits, as the floating lab landed in the snow. "Your time limit is six hours. Make sure you're back before then" Danika told them, as they exited. "Right!" They both said in unison, and then made their way through the snowy mountain on their own. They searched for a while, and found nothing. "Well, I wasn't expecting it to be easy to find..." Goh said, as he sat in the snow. They had sent out their Pokemon to help search too, and even they found nothing. At least that was what Goh thought, when he suddenly heard his Scizzor (his Scyther had recently evolved) call out. The two boys went to where Scizzor was, and found the Ninetales. "There it is! Good job, Scizzor!" Goh said. "It's so beautiful!" Ash said, admiring the Ninetales, who suddenly looked back at them angrily and attacked them. "Goh! Are you okay?!" Ash said, after they both leapt out of the way, dodging the attack. "Yeah! But what's going on..?!" Goh said. "It's really angry..." Ash pointed out the obvious. "Ash! What's good against an Ice/Fairy type?!" Goh asked. "Steel type!" Ash answered. "Okay! Scizzor! Use as Steel-type move! Metal Claw!" Goh said, and his Scizzor attacked Ninetales, who fired back by freezing Scizzor, and summoning a hailstorm. "Return, Scizzor!" Goh said, returning the frozen Pokemon back in its Pokeball. The hailstorm got more and more intense, making it impossible to see through. "Goh! This is crazy! We're gonna get blown away..." Ash said. "I have to come up with something!" Goh said, then got blown away by the hail. "Goh!" Ash screamed out, as he grabbed Goh's hand and tried to help him get back on the floor. After that, the hailstorm got more and more intense, and everything went black. Goh woke up in a cave, as Grookey was staring him in the face. He then heard Ash behind him wake up too. "Oh, that's right... We..." Goh said. "We were caught in the blizzard..." Ash finished Goh's sentence. They then saw a man wearing the same outfit as them, standing next to a Weavile. "Did they rescue us?" Goh asked. "Seeing weaklings annoys me. As soon as the blizzard ends, leave" the man said. "I have something important to d-" Goh tried to say, before the man cut him off. "You're disqualified. Were it not for me, you'd be dead. Both you and your Pokemon" he said. "Hold on! What do you mean disqualified?" Ash asked. "He's probably part of Project Mew. Isn't that right, Mr Quillon?" Goh said. He knew the man's name, Danika had mentioned it earlier. "You can go ahead and forget that name" Quillon told him. They then spent a while in the cave, waiting for the blizzard to die down. "Hey, Mr Quillon... Is he really disqualified?" Ash asked. No response. "Um... Can I ask you one question? Why is an Alolan Ninetails here?" Goh asked. "Pokemon hunters. They poached it for money, but their airplane crashed while carrying it. It fled up here" Quillon answered. "I get it. That's why it acted like that when it saw us... Then, if you catch it..?" Goh said. "I'll return it to Lanakila Mountain" Quillon said. They then waited, and eventually the blizzard stopped, as they left the cave. "As you promised, leave" Quillon told them. "No!" Goh refused. "What?" Quillon asked. "There's still time before the deadline. And Quillon, you're going to look for Ninetales, right?" Goh said. "What of it?" Quillon replied. "I want to get Ninetales back to its home, too!" Goh said. "Me too!" Ash added. "How will you find it with no clues?" Quillon asked them. "I thought of something earlier. If it used to live on Lanakila Mountain, then it might want to live somewhere that looks like Lanakila Mountain, yeah?" Goh said. "Looks like?" Quillon asked. "Look, over there!" Goh said, pointing at a part of the mountain that looked just like Lanakila. "Okay, come on" Quillon said, as he invited Ash and Goh to follow him. There, they found it. Goh threw a Pokeball at it, but the Ninetales dodged it. Goh then sent out his Cinderace, and engaged it in battle. Goh damaged it, and then threw another Pokeball. All of a sudden however, it was attacked midair by an Ice Beam and froze. "What?!" Goh asked. "I didn't expect to see you here..." Quillon said, as the boys looked over to see a wild Regice. "Regice is an important Pokemon for studying the origin of Pokemon as a whole" Quillon informed them, as the Regice then engaged them in battle. "Goh! Leave this to me!" Ash said, battling the Regice as Goh tried to help the Ninetales. Instead of battling it, Goh tried to reason with Ninetales. He got close, as Ninetales kept trying to push him away. Goh however pushed on, and got through to Ninetales, who realized he was just trying to help. Ninetales stopped pushing him back, and allowed Goh to catch it. He then looked back at Ash, who had fallen to the ground after an attack from Regice. "Stand back" Quillon said, as he walked past Ash and battled Regice himself, sending out a Pokemon Ash and Goh had never seen before. Ash pulled out his Pokedex, and found that its name was Urshifu. Urshifu then landed a single attack on Regice, knocking it down to the ground and rendering it unconscious. "I'll come back for you. Behave yourself until then" Quillon told the Regice. Quillon then walked away, and the boys followed. When they got back to the lab, Ash and Goh went to change again. "Congratulations on catching the Ninetales, Goh!" Ash told Goh, when they had both stripped down to their underwear again. "Thanks, Ash. I couldn't have done it without you" Goh thanked him, blushing. Ash smiled back in response, as they then both put their regular clothes on, and went to Quillon and Danika. "I verified the Ninetales. You can leave the rest to us" Danika told them. "Right. Please take care of it!" Goh replied. "Goh, Ash... Thank you for rescuing Ninetales" Danika winked at them. "It's nothing... I was just focused on getting it to Lanakila Mountain..." Goh said, slightly blushing. "Also, I should tell you this. What you cleared was not an official mission. It was a test to determine if you were fit to enter Project Mew. In other words, only now has Goh been accepted as an official challenger" Danika informed them. "Oh! So that's what Gary meant when he said it wasn't gonna be easy!" Ash said. "But Quillon told me..." Goh said. "Quiet. Are you doing it? Are you not doing it? Answer me that, and only that" Quillon interrupted him. "I will! Please accept me!" Goh said. "That's great news, Goh!" Ash said, as he put his arm around Goh's neck and placed it on his shoulder. "Even I'm getting fired up now!" Ash continued. "Yeah! But I've only just made it to the starting line!" Goh said. "Good enough! Don't let Gary beat you!" Ash told him. "Right!" Goh said, as Amaranth walked in the room. "Congrats, Goh" Amaranth said. "Th-Thank you!" Goh said. "Quillon, I hear Regice appeared" Amaranth said, turning to Quillon. "I'm analyzing the data now" Quillon said. "Diligent as always, I see. It's no coincidence that you were the Chaser with the best score!" Amaranth said. "Um, Professor Amaranth... Mr. Quillon said that Regice is an important Pokemon for studying the origin of all Pokemon..." Goh said. "Yes. That is what I believe" Amaranth replied. "Is that connected with Mew?" Goh asked. "Have you ever given it any thought? What are Pokemon? Where did they come from? That's what I want to solve: the world's biggest mystery. And I believe the key is Mew, who holds the genes of all Pokemon, and is thought to be ancestor to all Pokemon. That's why I'm meticulously studying Mew! And that's the ultimate goal of Project Mew!" Amaranth explained. "I really wanna be a member!" Goh told him. "Yeah! And I'll help you!" Ash told Goh. "Okay.. While we head back to Sinnoh, shall we look over Regice's data together?" Amaranth told them. "Yeah!" The boys said in unison, and went to research Regice with Amaranth, as Ash smiled at Goh for being accepted into Project Mew.
(Author's note: Sorry this chapter was so focused on Project Mew, and didn't have much SatoGou in it. I'll try to have more SatoGou in the next chapter!!)
