So were you?
A/N haha, it breaks the 4th wall but just a little
"Rose Tyler." The Doctor started. Greyn wasn't going to cry. "I was gonna take you to so many places. Barcelona! Not the city Barcelona, the planet Barcelona. You'd love it, both of you. Fantastic place, they've got dogs with no noses." It was a stupid joke. He really needed new material. The corners of Greyn's world blurred.
"Then why can't we go?" Rose asked from the floor.
"Maybe you will. And maybe I will but not like this."
The Doctor kept rambling in attempt to cheer Rose up. But it wasn't going to work on Greyn. She wiped her tears from her eyes harshly.
The Doctor suddenly jerked back from the console, bending over in pain. In a moment Greyn was at his side, holding him tightly. "Please." She whispered into his shoulder. "Please don't go."
He pressed a kiss on the top of her head. "You've got to let me go now."
"I- right." She took a step back.
"Doctor, tell me what's going on." Rose reached out to Greyn.
"I absorbed all the energy of the time vortex, and no one's meant to do that." He looked to Rose. "Every cell in my body's dying."
"Well can't you do something?"
"Yeah. I'm doing it now. Time Lords have this trick - it's sort of a way of cheating death. Except… It means I'm gonna change. And I'm not gonna see you again. Not like this. Not with this daft old face!"
Greyn covered her mouth
"And before I go-"
"Don't say that!" Greyn pleaded.
"Greyn." She shut her mouth. "Before I go, I just wanna tell you, you were fantastic. Absolutely fantastic," Her eyes softened. Rose tightened her grip on Greyn's shoulders.
"And you know what?"
"So were you?"
"Really just took my line there."
She closed her eyes.
