An Exercise in MAG

By: Shmeilia Rockie

A/N: This is a little prep writing exercise for my epic fic if I ever get around to it. It's based on the LiveJournal community 1sentence, where there are themes for which an author writes only one sentence narratives. There will hopefully be fifty of these little blurbs when I'm done. More if I turn out to like it. Please forgive the horrible run-on sentences; this has turned out to be a bit more difficult than I had anticipated.

I'm trying to stay as true to canon as possible while illustrating the Mary Ann/Gilligan relationship. I'm sure it's not to everyone's tastes, but I'm a die-hard MAG fan. What can I say? Oh yeah, enjoy reading them! I know I enjoyed writing them.

01 - Comfort

He sits at the edge of the lagoon and fiddles absently with the handle of a bamboo fishing pole; she's propped up against a rock ten feet away, mending his rugby shirt with a bone needle; they talk a little about everything and a lot about absolutely nothing, and when silence descends that's okay too.

02 - Kiss

"Thank you for never giving up on me," he mumbles into her dark hair, and when she pulls back she knows from the intense clarity in his eyes that he isn't afraid anymore.

03 - Soft

For a girl who grew up on a Kansas farm he vaguely wonders why her hands are so incredibly soft, but then again he doesn't really care.

04 - Pain

He flashes her a sympathetic smile as he removes the sharp shell from her foot, they both wince but for her sake he puts on a brave face and pretends that the blood doesn't bother him.

05 - Potatoes

There it is again - he wonders if she's deliberately brushing her foot against his or if he's making too much out of nothing; when she looks up at him with those big, brown, innocent eyes he coughs, "Could you please pass the potatoes?"
