"So in conclusion, we have located the exact Shie Hassaikai hideout that we will be raiding. The base is located here in Osaka. We also have had informants tell us that several shipments of dangerous and exotic animals have been delivered to this facility. We'll be adding animal trafficking to their many list of crimes. Be aware that their ranks may include wild animals now." Nighteye said. "With that, we will be concluding the meeting. Be ready. Our raid is in two days." He said before turning to the screen. "I hope to see all of you there."
Then he ended the call. "Eraserhead. A moment?"
Shouta nodded and followed Nighteye out of the room. "What did you need, Sir?"
"It's about the vigilantes. Nezu tells me that you have experience with them."
Shouta nodded. "That's correct. I've fought them a number of times."
"And they are competent fighters?"
"They know how to fight both with and without their quirks. Well enough that I'm essentially fighting without my quirk against them with theirs." Shouta said.
Nighteye was quiet for a few seconds before he spoke again. "Do you know the specifics of my quirk?"
"Vaguely. You're able to see the future of someone whose eyes you look into." Shouta said.
"The day I first met the leader of those vigilantes, Snake Eyes, I used my quirk on him." He said solemnly.
"And?"
"He dies in this raid." Nighteye said. "I see him dying at the hands of Overhaul himself." He leaned up against the wall of the hallway.
"Surely there's something that doesn't have that happen!" Shouta exclaimed. "He's a kid. If we let that happen on our watch, then…" he trailed off. "There has to be something."
"My quirk has never been wrong, Eraserhead." Nighteye said. "What I see always comes to pass. Always. And he's not the only one that dies."
"What." Shouta said. It wasn't a question. More of a demand to elaborate.
"Out of the seven that are there, only three of them survive." Nighteye said. "I… there's a reason why I never look at the futures of those I will work with, but Nezu insisted. I'm going to try everything that I can to change this outcome, but it's never been wrong before."
"So what do we do?" Shouta asked.
"We move forward." He said. "We still have a job to do, after all. I hope Nezu is right about them. I would hate to have their blood on our hands." He sighed. "You're dismissed. You can go home for the day. You can't tell them about this. Just look after them tomorrow. They'll surely want to be part of the vanguard force, so I will look after them as well. See you the day after tomorrow, Eraserhead." Sir Nighteye pushed off of the wall and left down the hallway.
"Yeah…" Shouta said to himself. "We move forward…"
"So they mentioned animals. That means it's a good time to use that Koda kid's quirk." Izuku said after the call ended.
"I'll get started on it right away." Mei said, rolling her chair over slightly so that she was righted with her desk instead of off to the side like she was for the call.
"You're exempt from training today and tomorrow as long as you work on making more babies." Izuku said. "Except for tonight. Remember what's happening tonight."
"Yes! Baby making! My favorite!" Mei quickly spun around in her chair and got to work.
"Now, Shouto." Izuku turned to his newest teammate.
"Yes, sir." Shouto stood up quickly.
"We're going to have two sparring matches. One today, and one tomorrow."
"Alright?" Shouto said, unsure of where this was going.
"Today will be a quirkless spar, and tomorrow will be a spar where you will augment your fighting capabilities with your quirk." Izuku said.
"When do we start?"
Izuku smirked.
Shouto's back hit the ground for the fourth time this session. Izuku wiped the sweat off of his face. He reached his hand out, and Shouto took it quickly.
"That was rough…" Shouto said.
"You did a lot better than the last few times." Izuku replied. "So keep your chin up. Don't forget that I've been studying martial arts for years now. You really started training… two weeks ago? You're making great progress."
"Thank you, Izuku." Shouto said.
"Of course." Izuku said. "Now." He moved to the dining table and sat down. "Let's talk, you and I."
"Alright." Shouto agreed and sat down across the table from him.
"The day after tomorrow is going to be a big operation. Are you ready for it?"
"I think so."
"You think so?" Izuku asked with a raised eyebrow.
"I am. I am ready." Shouto nodded with determination.
"Good." Izuku nodded. "Tonight, I want to go out to have dinner as a group. You're more than welcome to join since you are one of us. Just as a preemptive thing to destress before this. We've never done something so big before."
"I'd love to." Shouto nodded.
"Great! Then get cleaned up and get dressed." Izuku said. "I'll be getting ready too. Once everyone's ready, we'll be heading out. How does a high end noodle shop sound?" He asked.
"I would like some cold soba." Shouto nodded.
"Great. I'll see you in a bit." Izuku smiled, retreating back to his room only to see Kyouka sitting with crossed legs on his bed in a purple slit dress. "O-Oh… Uh… Hi there."
"Hi there yourself." Kyouka said with a smirk. "Like something you see?" She uncrossed her legs and then recrossed them with her other leg on top. Izuku, of course, became a stuttering mess as Kyouka stood up and walked past him. "Easy there, champ. I was only teasing. I'll be out in the kitchen. I already helped Eri get dressed. Mei needs to be reminded that she needs to get ready. I'll likely be helping her with her makeup." Izuku felt a light tap on his ass as she passed.
"I-I… I-I-I-I…" Izuku said. Kyouka just giggled as she exited the room.
After a few seconds, Izuku finally calmed down to the point where he could think straight. Shaking his head, he proceeded to grab the clothes that he had planned for tonight. Once heard the shower turn off and subsequently, Shouto walking back to his room, Izuku then took to the shower. After a few minutes of soaking under the showerhead, he finally cleaned himself off. After drying off, he carefully put his clothes on: a pair of black slacks, a green button up shirt, and a black suit jacket.
After returning for his socks and shoes, he made his way into the kitchen. Fumikage and Himiko were sitting on the couch wearing an all black ensemble and a deep crimson dress respectively. Eri was sitting at the kitchen table in a cute little white dress. Izuku couldn't help but smile at that. She was kicking her legs as she sat on the chair.
Mei was at the losing end of an argument with Kyouka about getting ready. After about thirty seconds of Izuku standing and watching the argument, Mei acquiesced and went to her room to change. Soon, Hitoshi came out dressed in a similar outfit to Izuku, but with a lilac undershirt. Shouto soon came out wearing a gray suit with a white undershirt.
"Hmmm…" Hitoshi said. "I expected red." He shrugged and sat down at the kitchen table. "Mei might be a bit."
"What do you mean?" Mei asked as she came out of the hallway wearing a somewhat poofy pink dress.
"I-uh…" Hitoshi started. "Wow…"
"Close your jaw there, Hitoshi." Izuku teased.
"You're telling me you didn't do the same thing when you saw Kyouka?" Hitoshi countered.
"No he was not." Kyouka said.
"Thank you!" Izuku said.
"He was way worse." She said again.
"Hey fuck you!" Izuku countered. Kyouka just smirked in a way that made Izuku blush. "A-Anyway… We should get going…"
Everyone nodded and got into the van with Fumikage driving. Mei had said something about it being hard to drive in heels, so Fumikage was set to drive with the caveat that he didn't pick the music, especially with Eri in the van. Izuku gave him the address, and they were on their way.
"Are you excited, Eri?" Izuku asked the young girl.
"Yeah." She said quietly as she nodded.
"You'll be able to eat whatever you want on the menu." Kyouka said.
"Are there apples on the menu?" Eri asked shyly.
"Do you like apples?" Izuku asked, to which Eri nodded. "Well then we can ask, right?" He asked Kyouka.
"Of course we can ask." Kyouka smiled.
The two of them could see the faintest curl of Eri's lips.
"I would also enjoy that." Fumikage nodded. "They are my favorite food as well, Eri." She nodded excitedly after hearing that.
Soon enough, the eight of them got to the restaurant: a fairly high end noodle shop. They were seated quickly, and they ordered. Shouto, true to his word, ordered cold soba. Izuku ordered Katsudon, and Kyouka the same. Mei ordered shrimp tempura udon, and Hitoshi ordered yaki udon. Fumikage and Eri both asked if there were apples. When told that it was in curry, Fumikage still ordered it, as did Eri with as much excitement as a non-smiling face could show. Himiko ordered a beef bowl but with the beef rare.
The group waited for a bit for their food. As they waited, several families came into the restaurant. Izuku could see Kyouka watching them every now and then. "Hey Kyo, we don't have to be on guard." He whispered.
"Oh… sorry. I'm not paranoid, I was just thinking about some stuff." She responded.
"Am I stuff?" Izuku asked.
Kyouka giggled. "You're part of it. Don't worry, I'll tell you later." She gave him a warm smile.
Izuku was about to respond when the group of them heard a shocked voice pierce through the somewhat quiet air of the restaurant.
"Todoroki? What are you doing here?" A familiar voice asked. Izuku didn't even have to turn around to know that it was Momo Yaoyorozu. He sighed to himself, but braced himself. At least he wasn't interacting with her as Snake Eyes right now. He wasn't Izuku either, technically. Now, he was Nakada Oda.
"Oh, Yaoyorozu. I wasn't expecting to see you here." Shouto turned around.
"Aizawa-sensei said that you were with your family." She said, confused.
"I was until tonight. I actually ran into some people I knew, and we went out for dinner." Shouto said.
"Wearing this?" She asked, gesturing to how dressed up everyone was.
"We saw him yesterday and invited him out for tonight." Izuku interrupted.
"I'm sorry, who are you?" The raven haired woman asked.
"Do excuse me. I am Nakada Oda." He offered his hand for her to shake. "We are all friends from Todoroki's junior high. We're so proud that he got Into UA." Izuku said with a smile.
"He is quite the skilled combatant, yes." Yaoyorozu agreed. After a few seconds of silence, she spoke again. "Okay, well, my parents are waiting for me. I had best get back over to them." And with that, she turned around and walked away.
Once she was a good distance away, Shouto turned to Izuku. "You lie really easily. You make it seem like it's nothing."
"I've been doing this for a few months now. It comes with the job." Izuku shrugged. "I'm just glad that she only recognized you."
"That is very true." Shouto said.
"Granted, I would have preferred that she not come over here at all." Izuku said. "She's been nosy and has pushed back against us a number of times. I'm not the biggest fan."
"I understand, although I do not share the same opinion." Shouto said.
"Oh, does this mean that you might… like her?" Himiko asked from across the table suddenly.
"No, I do not like her. She's just smart and a hard worker. I respect that." Shouto said.
"Could've fooled me." Mei shrugged.
Shortly after, their food all arrived. The rest of the meal went by well. They enjoyed each other's company and the food, which was excellent. The katsudon still didn't beat his mother's, but he might be just slightly a little biased. Maybe. After Izuku paid their bill, they all left the establishment and made their way back to the warehouse. After tucking Eri in on the couch, everyone went back to their own rooms.
Kyouka entered first, beckoning Izuku to follow her, and when he did she yelled. "Oh no, get out of here you pervert." It was, of course, a joke, but Izuku's face turned beet red, and he left her to change out of her dress.
Finally, after a few minutes, Kyouka came out and told Izuku that he could change. She stayed outside while he did so. When she finally came back into the room, Izuku pulled her onto the bed with him, spooning her from behind. "So, what were you thinking about earlier?" He asked.
"Oh… right, that." She said sheepishly. "Well, I saw all these happy families tonight. And I just thought to myself that I want that with you, y'know? I want to come home to you every day in our house and… be happy."
"Well, I will tell you this much, with how much money we've gotten from stopping those arms deals, we could afford a better house than this." Izuku chuckled.
"I don't care where the house is. Wherever I'm in your arms is home to me." She said.
"That's poetic." Izuku nodded.
"And true! So you better believe it!" Kyouka said sternly.
Izuku simply pulled her in closer. "I do. I feel the same way." He smiled and smelled her hair. The smell of lavender was much stronger now. "Goodnight, Kyouka. I love you."
"I love you too." Kyouka said softly, followed by a yawn. Just a minute later, Izuku could hear the faint sound of her breathing.
"Adorable." Izuku smiled. Then he closed his eyes. Today was good. They needed that. The next two days were important. Try as he might to think about the next few days, sleep took him as well.
For the first time in a while, Izuku had to tumble out of the way of an attack during training. A flaming fist missed its mark. Izuku righted himself before standing up.
"That was a close one, Shouto." Izuku said. "You're doing well." He smiled.
"Thank you." Shouto said. He quickly left his fighting stance to bow at Izuku, who did the same thing in return. Once they had both resumed their stances, Shouto dashed at Izuku and threw out a few punches. Jab. Jab. Cross. Jab. Uppercut. Shouto didn't use his quirk until the last attack, where he formed a casing of ice around his right hand. Izuku managed to avoid the first three punches, but the last two caught him off guard. The jab hit his face and disoriented him enough so that the uppercut connected with his gut. He felt the cold from the ice on contact.
He braced himself as he slid backwards a few inches from the blow. He responded with his own punches. Shouto blocked both of them. Izuku knelt down for a round kick to Shouto's head, but it was a feint. As soon as Shouto ducked to avoid the kick, Izuku changed the kick into a leg sweep, knocking Shouto to the ground.
Shouto spun his legs around, igniting fire around his left side as he rotated onto his feet. He took up a stance once again.
Shouto rushed towards Izuku again, but this time, Izuku activated his quirk. The sweat that the two of them had been secreting had been accumulating in puddles on the mat. So when he saw that Shouto had a chance to slip on one of those puddles and fall, he upped the probability to 100% before running towards his ally, himself.
True to his quirk, Shouto took a few steps forward and slipped on one of the puddles. Izuku took the opportunity and pounced on him, wrapping his legs around him and putting him into a triangle choke.
Shouto struggled for a few seconds before he tapped out.
Izuku got off of him and stood up, offering his hand. "Great spar, Shouto. You did great. In a real fight, I'll expect you to use your quirk when you're in a choke like that, but I understand why you didn't just now." Izuku pulled Shouto up so that he was standing. "In fact, I'm very thankful that you didn't do so just now. Kyouka would have killed you."
"I figured it would be something along those lines." Shouto said. "Did you use your quirk?"
"Yeah, you slipped." Izuku said. "That was me. Anyway, I think you're ready for tomorrow. Good job, good work." Izuku complimented.
"Thank you. That means a lot." Shouto bowed. "Thank you for teaching me. It's a bit embarrassing to be affected by such a subtle quirk."
"Don't worry about it. You're a natural. You just needed a push towards it." Izuku said.
"I'm glad you think so." Shouto said, walking towards the edge of their mats.
"Give it a few months, and you'll be a monster." Izuku said. "I'm gonna clean up, and we can finish our final prep for tomorrow." He turned away from Shouto towards the main portion of the warehouse. "Mei!" He shouted. "ETA on the animal quirk devices."
Mei spun around in her chair. "I have one done!" She yelled back. "Tested and works properly! Tested on some of the squirrels in the neighborhood." She continued. "Gonna have one made for everyone and put it into everyone's masks before tomorrow."
"Fantastic. You deserve a raise." Izuku said.
"I'm the main account holder anyway." Mei rolled her eyes. "Plus, all the things I would spend money on, I can make thanks to Yaoyorozu's quirk."
"Crazy woman, giving the inventor access to a fabricator straight out of a sci-fi movie." Hitoshi said from next to her.
"Regardless, good job, Mei." Izuku said.
"Thank you! We're gonna be ready for tomorrow!" Mei said.
The night passed quickly. Too quickly for all of them. They made their way to Osaka early in the morning, unaware of the small girl that had hitched a ride by hiding in the back of the van where none of them could see or hear her.
The group, clad in their costumes, made it to an alleyway nearby where everyone was meeting. They all got out of the van and made their way over to the agreed upon meeting place.
"There they are." Rock Lock said whenever they turned the corner.
"We're still early." Izuku said, walking past him and to Sir Nighteye. "It's good to see you in person again." He greeted.
"Likewise. Are your people ready?" Nighteye asked.
"Of course. I wouldn't have brought them if they weren't." Izuku chuckled.
"I hope you're right." Nighteye said before turning around. "For your sake." He said under his breath. He walked to the front of the gathering of people. "Thank you all for coming today. I truly appreciate all of your help with this endeavor. I will not lie to you all. This will be dangerous. But even still, we have to do our best. The sooner this threat is taken care of, the better. And we'll do that today." He finished his speech and stepped away. The crowd cheered. As soon as the cheering stopped, the air immediately grew tense.
Shouta moved over to the group. "It's good to see that you lot are here." He said. Shouto shrank back slightly, to which Shouta noticed. "Dragon is your name here, is that correct?" Shouto simply nodded. "I know your real name, but we're on the job. Do well today, and you'll be looking at full credit for the internships that your classmates are receiving."
"Thank you." Shouto said. He stood there contemplatively for a few seconds. Before he could speak, Shouta did.
"You don't have to say anything. Nezu made it clear that there's a reason for this. Just don't die today." He turned to look at the rest of the group. "That goes for all of you. Nighteye assigned me to watch you all as we're moving through." A chorus of nods in response. "Look alive. We're heading in soon."
Everyone felt tense as the gates to the Shie Hassaikai compound opened and they made their way to the doors.
Before they could open them themselves, the doors burst open as soldiers began to rush the heroes, police, and the small band of vigilantes. Izuku tensed himself. He was ready for a fight. And he was going to get one. Several, actually.
The Shie Hassaikai raid had begun.
Author's Note: What's this? A Note at the end? Crazy, I know. Some of you may be wondering why it's been like 3 weeks, and to that, I say this: I was working on my game demo! I've given it out to a few friends and have gotten some bug feedback, which is great. No writer server shills today, but instead, I would like to shill the server I have made for my game's production! Feel free to join! I'd like to get a good amount of people in the server for some feedback and things of the like. Plus, if you join, I can get you the demo! Have a great week or however long until I update again!
