Whose idea is it to release a second season after what? 7 years? But still I'm so damn hyped, can't wait to see Alas Ramus in there. So anyways, here's my celebratory gift for the announcement of season 2. Enjoy!

"Papa look at this!"

"Hmm?"

"Owl!"

Maou looked to the smidgen of light on the wall, and there really was an owl. At least a small and 2-dimensional one. "Not bad, but how about….This!"

"Doggy! Papa teach me teach me!"

"Nope, wait til you get older and I'll teach you!"

"Hmph!" she pouted in classic Alas Ramus style. Out of nowhere, she moved the owl closer and closer to Maou's dog, eventually covering it with its own shadow. "HAHA! My owl eat doggy, nyam!"

"Oh, so you're challenging me? Maou intertwined his fingers carefully and created a shadow of an Indian. (Context: Referring to the American indigenous people)

"It got horns? I know! A demon!"

Maou laughed nervously, glad that Alas Ramus had said it behind closed doors. "Anyways, mine is a human, so I can easily beat your tiny little owl!"

Maou prepared for his finishing move, opening his fingers and creating a gap between the shadow's mouth, Alas Ramus meanwhile, tries her very best to block the attack.

"Ahem"

In the blink of an eye, it all vanished. The epic battle of the Indian and the owl had finished before it had even begun. The room was suddenly filled with light as the pair looked at the culprit in disgust.

"Ah yes, studying is it?"

"Papa, can I say a bad word?" asked Alas Ramus apologetically.

Emi was taken aback by that statement, "Wait wha-

"Just this one time only, promise?"

"Promise"

Before Emi was able to retaliate, they both stood up and shouted in unison,

"YOU WASHBOARD HERO!"

Maou was grinning hard. He knew that because Alas Ramus was part of the whole ordeal. She wouldn't do anything. She wouldn't dare to lay a finger on her little daughter surely."

In contrast to Maou's prediction, Emi just smiled calmly. She picked up Alas Ramus and put her on the carpet with some toys.

"Hey Maou, you were supposed to teach her about math right?"

"Yeah, why?"

"How about a simple question, what if I have 1, and I time it with -1

"You'll end up with minus 1"

"So what if I have a sweet, innocent, and kind girl, and she meets this dumb and incomprehensible man"

Maou gulped down for one last time. "Fuck"

The 3 of them were sitting down for dinner. Turns out, the fried rice (which Maou called Despai-rice) is actually very good. Since Alas Ramus started teething, Emi started cooking whole foods. She insisted that it's to aid Alas Ramus' growth but Maou suspects that there's something else to it. But hey, he won't complain after only eating soba for a year.

"So Alas Ramus' class is performing a drama next week," said Emi.

"Oh really? What're you performing as?" Maou asked the silver-haired girl.

But rather unusually, Alas Ramus just stared at her plate and frowned.

"Hey…is something wrong? Some kid mocked your hair again?"

Emi sighed, "She's mad because of the role she got."

"Huh? What is it then?" Maou asked in a sympathetic tone.

Emi was just about to answer when Alas Ramus blurted out, "Ms. Yui said that I'm the sun because I smile like sunshine."

"Aww, but she's right. When you smile, it's so bright that it resembles the sun," said Maou apologetically.

Alas Ramus continued to pout, "But I don't like sun. It's not important. I wanna be princess!"

Emi held Alas Ramus' hand, "Do you remember the story about the traveler who became king?"

"Yeah"

"The traveler married the princess and ruled a kingdom. But what did he do after that?"

Alas Ramus looked at her puzzled, "He left his kingdom and invaded other lands because he's greedy."

"Exactly, but only did so because he had not yet found the true meaning of his life."

"What do you mean Mama?" Alas Ramus asked. This time, her eyes were filled with curiosity.

"He heard a voice from the sky and looked up. He was greeted with a blinding light from the heavens. There he learned that the most important thing in life is not to have but to be. Only then, will he achieve true happiness."

Alas Ramus glowed in excitement. She started smiling like her usual self.

Emi continued, "Which means that the most important part of the story, the catalyst of his redemption, is this revelation from the benevolent and radiant goddess watching over from the sky, the sun."

"Yay!" Alas Ramus exclaimed. With that the gloomy atmosphere in the room disappeared, replaced with radiant energy. "Wow, I never thought that you would actually create a good ending for that story," Maou grinned. "And the role fits you perfectly Alas Ramus! You're like our very own personal sun. Bringing joy and happiness everywhere you go."

Emi leaned her head on her hand, I never thought that a family with him of all people, would actually be…nice.

The sun's shining bright today. Alas Ramus is currently preparing backstage.

"Alriiiight, this should be complete, what do you think?" asked Ms. Yui.

"Waaah, I look so real!"

"I'd say you look better," she replied.

"Hehe…Sankyu!"

"Okay class, we're gonna perform in 5 minutes, let's line up and make 2 rows okay!"

"Okeh!" said the class in unison.

They marched onto the stage and got into their designated position. They were diverse and colorful, to say the least. Aside from Alas Ramus, there was the princess, the king, the bard, the knight, the clerk, the horse, and even one as the grass (poor kid).

Alas Ramus excitedly scanned the audience. Hoping that Papa and Mama are present. Not in the first row, not the second, not the third either. She felt tears welling up inside her eyes but remembered what Papa had told her the other day. "Remember Alas Ramus, as the sun, you need to always shine the brightest out of everyone. Because everyone relies on you, without your light, everyone would be lost. Just like the traveler."

She took a deep breath as the play began. Like the Sun, her role is to guide the knight to the villain's castle. So, it's only natural for her to move around the stage. But every time she moved forward to see the fourth row, Mama and Papa were always nowhere to be seen. For the first time in her existence, she felt disappointed in her adopted parents.

Slowly, her shine began to fade, her smile gone, and she moved slower and slower. She forgot some of her lines. She just couldn't concentrate. When it's the turn for her big speech to the traveler. She limped forward and glanced over to the audience one last time. "Please" she whispered.

"You degenerate, incapable, excuse of a man! Come over here and sit your ass down or I will personally cut off your balls!"

"E-Emi, we're in public, there's a ton of people staring at us you know," Maou retaliated.

The crowd's heads were turned, only to witness a helpless young man being dragged on the floor by the scruff of his neck by a very angry redhead.

The other parents murmured amongst each other. Asking questions about the family's attitude. But Alas Ramus, now with the stage light shined on her, looked at them with excitement. "That's Papa and Mama for sure!"

The performance was a total success! Alas Ramus, still on her suit, jumped excitedly to her parents.

Emi hugged Alas Ramus spontaneously, "See? The sun is important after all. You were practically the center of attention back there. Mama is so proud of you."

Maou just looked at her as the proud father that he is.

Looks like the sun is shining brighter than usual today
