Chapter Three

Training Camp

Kenma was upset to find out that Hinata had shown up late of all people. He might as well be the reason Karasano was there at all. In his opinion. He did realize that this also benifted them but to him Hinata and maybe Kageayama were the only ones that mattered. His energy level went up instantly as soon as he saw a tiny red head walk in for the last match Karasano had that day. Kenma made sure to watch the match closely. The pace definitely picked up for them after they joined. Hinata's fast and unpredictable movements fascinated him. His yellow eyes followed him like a cat staring at a bird in the sky.

At dinner Kenma went over to talk to Hinata and congratulate him on his teams win in the last match."It was only one match" Hinata stuttered. Kenma then asked why he was so late "oh well I failed one of my exams so I needed to take extra classes, I was lucky to make it here." Kenma told him how he was glad he made it there. "Maybe you could come practice with my team after dinner." Kenma asked. Hinata looked surprised and was ecstatic to tell him he would be there. Kenma just nodded in excitement as he walked the other way towards his team. Hinata didn't think to tell the team about his after dinner practice with Nekoma.

After dinner Hinata saw Kenma walking to one of the courts with Lev Nekoma's new bee spiker. "Hey Kenma!" Hinata shouted over to Kenma as he ran over to him. "Oh, Shoyo you ready?" Kenma asked. "Yep!"

After practicing for a few hours they thought they should head to bed since they were the only group not in there rooms. Kurro decided ask Hinata if he wanted to hang out with Nekoma until lights out. "I don't know if my team mates would appreciate that." Hinata answered being surprised by the offer. "come on it'll be fun." Kurro declared trying to convince Hinata to come. He wanted to know why Kenma was so interested in him other than the fact that he had unordinary reflexes. Kurro had never seen Kenma ask someone to do something with him or to be the one to start the conversation but for some reason with him he was itching to see him since he got here. "Well you guys really helped me practice so if you want me to join you guys..." Hinata started to agree. " all right!" Kurro shouted in victory and Kenma shed a small smile.

"Shoyo how did you get into volleyball?" Kenma asked after they started chatting in Nekoma's room."I would see the tiny giant on TV and think how I wanted to do that so thats why I came to Karasano." Hinata replied with a sense of absolute joy. " How long have you to known each other?" Kurro asked. "We met at the bench when we got lost." Hinata answered. He must not know much about him so why is he so interested I've known him for years! Kurro thought to himself. I guess you can say he was jealous but more surprised than anything he never would have thought Kenma would be this open with someone he met not to long ago. A loud knock at the door drowned out all Kurro's thought's as a angry boy from Karasano came storming in. "Hinata what are you doing here, you dumbass!?" Hinata looked started and mortified all he could stutter up was "They invited me to come so..." "that doesn't mean you say yes idiot!" Kageayama screamed. "But whats so wrong with hanging out with Kenma and his friend?" Hinata asked almost as if it were a plea for His life. "We'll talk about it later, just come back to our room." Kageayama demanded. Hinata then got up to leave and Kenma's heart sank. "You don't have to listen to him you know just because were opposing teams doesn't means we can't hang out." Kenma spoke up and Kurro's face was of complete and utter shock. "Excuse me? This may be all fun and games for you guys but we came here to play volleyball not to have a little slumber party so if you want to say that crap to me again you shouldn't even get to be here since you don't seem to take it seriously!" Kageayama shouted in anger, steaming. "Now let's go Hinata!" Kageayama ordered. "You still don't have to listen to him if you don't want to, Shoyo." Kenma told him as he left. All Hinata did was wave back in embarrassment like his Mom just yelled him in front of his friends. It was practically the same situation bit it was almost worse coming from a peer. He took one last glance at Kenma and Kurro before the door shut behind him.

Shoyo: it's fine, he's just starting to get better about his controlling habits.

Kenma: i see your helping him with an old habit.
