Part 1

Comfort's POV

"Luke, Luke!" I call as I see my colleague walk away from me.

He stops and I jog to catch up with him, and I see his red swollen eyes. I whisper, "Luke, what's wrong babes?"

I pull his arm softly, "Come to the ambulance…"

He looks at me and manages a smile, "I'm fine, Comfort."

"No you're not, Luke, c'mon I known you long enough to know that…"

He pulls his arm away, "Leave it, Comfort! Just, leave it, please!"

I reel back hurt and worried, "Ok, I was only trying to help, y'know we've been mates for years."

Luke's face falls, "I know, I'm sorry, but please, I'm fine, I don't want to talk about it. I'll catch you later."

I feel untrusted, "Ok, whatever, but please Luke, y'can trust me, I am here if you want to talk y'know, we've known each other long enough for us to know that, mate."

"I know, I'm grateful. It's just my brother died on Sunday morning, of lung cancer, I'm fine, I just don't want to talk about it."

I look at Luke, concerned for one of my oldest friends, "I'm so sorry, Luke, really sorry, look I am here if you want to talk, I do know what it's like to lose someone close to you."

"I know, I'm sorry, Comfort, I'll catch you later, ok?" Luke looks really sad and I nod, "Ok, see you later."

Luke walks off and I find myself looking after him, worrying about him deeply, and then tears fill my eyelids as fast as thoughts of Fin fill my mind.
