Hello, readers! WaterDragonMaverick here with the next chapter of "Palisman Café". After the rollercoaster of Luz's first day at Hexside, we'll need something fun for her and the others to enjoy before we get to some of my favorite Season 1 episodes. So, why not have the carnival episode with a number of twists in it, especially thanks to the wonderful episode that is "Eda's Requiem" and the introduction of Raine Whispers? You'll see what I have planned for everyone in this because of no magic shrinking potion or evil coven plot. For now, we'll be having some fun!

Step right up, folks!

The Owl House is owned by Disney and was created by Dana Terrace

It was a regular Friday afternoon for Luz at Palisman Café when she returned from Hexside. She had been enjoying her new classes and was happy to spend even more time with her growing circle of friends. Currently, she was working with Willow, Gus, and Amity while talking with a regular of the café, the fanfiction writer from her first day of work. "Hey, Katya. How's the writing going," Luz cheerfully asked.

"It's going pretty well," the woman said as she typed away at her laptop. "I've been getting so much work done with your help. The feedback works wonders."

"I'm glad to hear that," Luz replied with a smile.

Soon, Eda gave Katya her drink. "Here's another Witch's Brew," the Owl Lady said as the author looked at the bat-shaped foam.

"Thanks," Katya replied as she enjoyed the drink. "Hey, any of you busy this weekend? My band is performing at a carnival in town and I'd like for you to stop by and listen."

"A band? Cool," Gus said as he collected dishes from a nearby table.

"I guess I could set up my weekend stall around there for a little extra business," Eda remarked before facing her employees. "Not to mention all of you have been doing well here. Let's go, then."

"Do you really think it's a good idea to do this," Amity questioned.

"Even you need a break, Little Miss Perfect," Eda stated. "The four of you can go be teenagers this weekend. Go eat junk food, play games, and enjoy rides while I make a quick buck selling things I don't want in the house anymore."

Hearing about the carnival and Eda giving the okay, Luz was excited to spend her weekend having fun with her friends. "Come on! Let's all go. It'll be great," she told the others.

"Sounds like fun," Willow said as she focused on Luz.

"I get the feeling my siblings will just mess around with people there, so I'll keep an eye on them if I see them," Amity voiced.

"Hey, what about me? I wanna go," King said as Owlbert landed on his head and hooted.

"Okay, you two can come with us," Eda replied, unable to resist the look in the animals' eyes.

Katya smiled at the group as she finished her drink. "Thanks. I'll see you guys tomorrow," she said as she left the café.

When the author left, Eda turned to her employees again. "Now, let's discuss your payment so you all have some spending cash for tomorrow."

The weekend soon arrived and Luz was excited for the carnival in Bonesborough. Eda walked alongside her with King at Luz's feet and Owlbert on Eda's shoulder. "What should we do first," Luz asked as the group made their way to the fairgrounds, carrying several bags of Eda's merchandise to sell at her stand.

"As long as we do it together, I don't care," King said.

"He's been missing you when you're at school. It's kinda cute," Eda told Luz.

"Eda! No, I don't," King whined like a child, making Luz giggle as she gushed over the dog's cuteness.

When they made it to the carnival, everyone saw the number of people around and knew they were going to have fun. "Ah, just look at all the fresh meat," Eda said as she looked at the potential customers.

"Smell it, too," Luz mentioned as she pointed out a food stall just near the entrance. "Mmm, carne asada and carnitas," she hummed as she smelled the Mexican cuisine, only to accidentally snort up a fly and cough, dropping the bag she carried. "That was gross," she muttered to herself after coughing the fly out.

After Luz made sure she could breathe again, Owlbert was about ready to fly off for some of his own fun before Eda stopped him. "Not now, Owlbert. I want you to do your tricks first, then you can go play games," Eda told the owl, who was slightly upset at not being able to have fun immediately. "Just help Mama draw a crowd and you can go off later," Eda said to her pet before speaking to Luz. "You two can go have fun for now. Check the place out and meet your friends."

Luz smiled and bounced on her heels with King following her example by jumping around in place. "Bye, Eda! See you in a bit," she exclaimed as she and King ran off.

"I'm glad we don't have to help her out now," King said. "Last time we had to, I had to wear that humiliating bee costume."

As Eda set up her stand by literally kicking somebody else away, Luz and King went ahead to explore the area. "Carnivals are my kind of weird," Luz told King. "So, what do you want to do first? We could sneak you onto the roller coaster, or eat a mysterious blob of deep-fried food, or eve-" Luz's train of thought came to a screeching halt as she saw the carnival's prize booth and gasped at the sight of the plush toys being offered. "¡Aye, qué lindo!"

King looked at the toys and saw Luz's practically sparkle when she saw a life-sized plushie of a Rowlet from Pokémon. "You seriously want that," King asked. "Why not get these cool things instead," he said as he pointed to a pair of friendship bracelets.

"I'll help you get those, too. But that Rowlet is just so adorable! I want it for my room," Luz told King.

"Want what for your room," asked a familiar voice. Turning to the sound, it was revealed Gus was the one that asked the question when he and Willow arrived.

"Friends," Luz cheered as she hugged her best friends. "I want that," she said as she pointed to the owl doll.

"Awwww, I want one too," Willow cooed, having her own love of Grass-type Pokémon.

"Well, I have a couple of them in the back," the guy working the prize counter said. "If you want them and those bracelets your dog seems interested in, you'll need to win the tickets for them. Carnival rules."

"Luz, give the word and I'll aim for the groin, then you can steal whatever you can carry," King whispered.

"Or, and hear me out on this, we play the games and not run the risk of getting kicked out before we have a chance of getting those plushies or listening to Katya's band," Luz stated.

King whined, but relented. "Fine..."

"Come on, let's go play the games," Luz said.

"And then we can ride the Ferris Wheel," Willow said, excited to spend time with her friends.

"Games! Games! Games! Games! Games! Games! Games," Gus chanted before the others joined in. Heading off the four went to win tickets at whatever games they could find.

Eda's stand was going well as she was able to draw a crowd thanks to Owlbert performing tricks in the air. "That's right, step on up! I've got toys, games, and collectibles for everyone to bring home," the Owl Lady declared. "That includes outdated references," she added as she picked up and spun a fidget spinner.

While the potential customers were buying her stuff, somebody else wasn't happy about Eda's business. "Okay, show's over. This woman doesn't have a license for this stand."

As the customers ran, Eda pouted. "What are you? The Fun Police?"

"Yes," the man said in a serious voice as he squeezed a squeaky toy badge that literally said 'Fun Police', but Eda couldn't help but think the man looked too much like a clown rather than a cop the carnival hired. "You're coming with me," he said as he tapped a nightstick in his hand, causing it to make squeaking noises.

"Excuse me, sir. I'd like to talk to you ab- OWLBERT, AIM FOR THE EYES," Eda said before commanding her pet owl to attack. However, nothing happened. "Owlbert. Owlbert! Where are you," Eda called out as she didn't see her beloved bird. She soon saw the owl at a game booth playing Whack-A-Mole, hooting happily as he knocked each figure back into the holes and won tickets. "Owlbert, you're lucky I can't be mad at your adorable antics," Eda exclaimed before she jumped away from her booth and ran off. When she did, she crashed into a cotton candy machine and enough of the sugary treat covered her hair to turn it fluffy and pink, but she kept running.

"Get back here," the guard shouted as he chased Eda, only for her to duck out of sight.

When the member of the 'Fun Police' went past Eda and didn't find her, the Owl Lady chuckled to herself before shaking all the cotton candy from her hair. "Sucker," she said to herself before seeing a poster on the wall next to her. "Huh. Bards Against the Throne? Must be Katya's band," she remarked as she saw four people on the poster wearing bat masks. When she did, her attention was focused on the violinist with a single earring. "Heh. How did you get this gig," Eda chuckled as she seemed familiar with the apparent leader of the band.

Walking away, Eda soon heard music playing and made her way over toward the source. When she did, she saw the four people from the poster practicing. When the song ended, the tambourine player removed her mask to reveal herself as Katya. "That was great," she said to her bandmates.

"I still feel like we could have something else added into the set," the leader stated.

"Really? With what you were like back in the day," said Eda as she walked toward the group.

"Hey there, Owl Lady," greeted Katya. "You all know about that café I talk about, right," she said as she turned to other members of the band.

"Yeah, I know you say you keep writing your stories there," remarked a dark-skinned man with a bassoon as he lifted up his mask.

"The one with all the cats and owls and stuff," asked a girl with a recorder.

"Yeah, Amber. And I've actually been able to get a lot more done thanks to that girl that works there helping me, Derwin," Katya told the two.

"Nice to meet all of you," Eda said before turning her attention to the leader. "Are you really not going to say hello to me, Raine Whispers," she questioned before flicking off the mask of the band leader, revealing their androgynous appearance with dark skin, the single earring, a pair of glasses over green eyes, and short mint-green hair with white streaks at the bottom. Raine glared at Eda after their mask was removed.

"You know her," Derwin asked the band's leader.

"You kidding me? I met them back when we attended Hexside," Eda revealed. "But back then, the Rainestorm I knew would never go onstage because such crippling stage fright. How's that for ironic," she remarked as Raine continued to look at Eda with light reflecting off their glasses.

With the shine hiding their expression enough, Raine stepped forward and finally spoke up. "Eda! You're embarrassing me in front of my crew," the violinist whined with a blush on their cheeks. Seeing their leader acting like a nervous high school student, the three musicians were surprised. "Sorry, guys. She's an old friend," Raine told their band.

"And old flame," Eda reminded. "Still, why are you in a band now? You hated public speaking when we went to Hexside. You couldn't even give an oral report in history class."

"I was teaching a small class at a local college when I was asked to help with a party," Raine told Eda. "It was around Halloween and I thought that if I wore a mask, it would help me calm down since they weren't staring at me. It actually worked and I met everyone in the band when they attended my class at some point," they said.

"If all it took was a mask, we could have gotten you onto the talent show stage a long time ago," Eda said with a snorting laugh.

Raine chuckled at the idea as well. "If only we thought of that. Then again, we were just kids," they remarked.

"As fun as going down memory lane is, how about we start getting things set up for the performance," Katya suggested.

"You're right," Raine said.

"Mind if I help out? Mama needs to hide from the Fun Police anyways," Eda asked.

"You're not our mom," Amber exclaimed like a pouty child.

"Just let her help, Amber," Derwin said to his bandmate.

"Let's get going, BATs," Raine said as they led everyone to the performance stage.

Willow focused as she rolled a skeeball into one of the upper corners of the machine and scored yet another high amount. "YES! Hahaha," she cheered with Luz and Gus while King carefully collected the tickets.

"I didn't know you were such a skeeball wizard, Willow," Luz commented.

"It helps to know where to aim," Willow told her best friend.

"Come on, let's get some food," Gus said as he saw a booth serving candy apples and ran toward it.

"Save some for me," King shouted as he let Luz pocket the tickets the four won, then chased after Gus with Willow trailing behind.

Luz laughed happily as she was enjoying herself with her friends, but remembered that Amity was invited to the carnival as well. "Where's Amity," she asked out loud.

"Oh, she's right behind you," said a pair of familiar voices in unison.

Turning around suddenly, Luz saw Edric and Emira were smiling at the Latina as Amity stood in front of them. When Luz saw her, she noticed that she wasn't in her Hexside uniform like she normally saw her. Instead, Amity wore a black tunic-like dress with short sleeves, orchid leggings, and pointed shoes with crescent moon buckles. She also had a necklace with an orchid-colored gemstone pendant. "Amity, Edric, Emira! I'm glad to see all of you," Luz exclaimed. "That's a cute outfit, Amity," she added.

Hearing Luz say that, Amity looked away and hid the small blush on her cheeks. "It's nothing. Just my usual normal outfit for when I'm not at Hexside," the youngest Blight told her friend. "I mean, I have a different necklace and color for my leggings, but I just felt like wearing these today."

The twins saw how Amity acted around Luz and smiled to each other, wisely staying quiet. "So, what's going on, Luz," Edric asked.

"Have any plans for the carnival," Emira questioned.

"Well, I'm trying to get some prizes that I saw earlier," Luz said. "Willow, Gus, and King are helping me out, but they went to get food first."

"What prizes," Edric asked.

"Some friendship bracelets for King and the cutest Pokémon plushies I've ever seen," Luz said as she pointed to the nearby booth.

The Blight Siblings all saw the owl-like creature on the top shelf and the three couldn't help but agree it was adorable. "You need any help? I'm sure Amity would love to help you out if she doesn't want me and Ed to bother her too much," Emira told Luz.

"Hey, it'll help out if you joined us," the Latina replied.

"Then let's get to playing games," Edric declared as he went to the closest game booth.

As the twins went to help Luz and possibly get enough tickets for their own prizes, Amity was left standing next to Luz. "So... how are you liking Bonesborough after all this time," the youngest Blight asked.

Luz scratched the back of her head and thought it over before answering Amity. "Well, I've definitely gotten along with everyone more than I did back in Gravesfield, Connecticut. Probably helps that they don't know about how I was back in my old school. Aside from teens like Boscha, I've actually gotten along well with everyone I've met."

"Still, I can't imagine how you thought everything would go when you learned that you were going to work at a café in other state for the summer," Amity remarked.

"You're right," Luz said as they two walked through the carnival. "I had no idea what was going to happen when I came here, but my life has changed so much and I love it! I can't imagine having to leave this place behind for good," she stated.

"I'm sure everyone agrees with you on that," Amity replied, prompting a smile from Luz that she returned.

As the twins came back with an armful of tickets each, they saw Amity and Luz having a moment and decided to step away. "So, you want to help us get more tickets," Luz asked.

Amity was unsure of how to help, but looking at Luz's face was like looking at a puppy. Or more accurately to Amity, the various cats in the café. She couldn't turn the girl down, so she sighed. "Okay, let's go."

"Yes! Those Pokémon are ours," Luz declared as she grabbed Amity's arm and dragged her off to another game booth, unaware of Amity's blushing face while Edric and Emira silently chuckled to themselves.

Eda whistled to herself as she helped Raine and the others set up for their performance within the next few hours. After setting up the sound equipment and special effects, Raine sat down and start to tune their violin again. "How's everything so far, Raine," Eda asked.

"The stage looks great so far, but I'm still wondering about a piece to put in the set," Raine explained. "It just feels a bit short."

Eda only chuckled. "I remember when you were more concerned about testing my cooking with Lily than going on stage."

"Yeah, those were the days," Raine agreed. "Do you still play your lute?"

"I know how to play it still, but I don't exactly carry around something that makes me look like a nerdy bard when I have a café to run," Eda answered.

"I remember when you wrote that song for me all those years ago," the band leader reminisced.

Eda sighed at the memory in fondness. "Raine's Rhapsody," she said.

The two smiled at the memory, then blushed as they looked at each other. "Eda, I know we broke up all those years ago, but you know why I did it."

"Yeah," Eda sadly replied. "You wanted to focus on your education more and I... I had my health to worry about."

"How are you doing," Raine asked.

"Not good, but my sister is helping work on it," Eda stated. "But hey, I'm not here to talk about that. Maybe we can play our song together? For old time's sake," she said, changing the subject.

Thinking about it, Raine thought that it was a good idea. Getting up and heading to the spare instruments, they grabbed a lute and handed it to Eda. "Let's see if you're still in tune," Raine quipped.

Eda snorted at what was said before putting her hands in the right positions. "Does having a job as a music teacher require you to make bad puns," Eda joked in reply before playing a piece that she once made for Raine when the two were still dating.

Hearing the music that Eda wrote with them brought back happy memories for Raine. "Remember what you said when you first played this for me," Raine asked. "Something about punching fears in the face."

Chuckling at that memory herself, Eda soon ended her song and spoke to Raine. "Yeah, I remember that. Have you actually been able to do that to your stage fright with a mask on?"

"That's what I'm going to find out later," Raine stated. "Maybe you'd like to help us? We could play a duet again. For old times?"

Thinking it over, Eda sighed before replying. "Sure. Why not?"

With the Blight Siblings joining them, Luz and her friends were able to gather a larger number of tickets for the prize booth. While Willow didn't like Amity spending time with the group, she stayed quiet while Amity was able to get a perfect score on a basketball game. With the victory, Amity earned the group even more tickets before they moved onto the next game. "So, what's next? The rope ladder climb challenge sound good," Gus suggested.

"Eh, not really," King voiced. "Those ones are always scams. I know because Eda told me before."

"Takes a scammer to know a scam," Amity remarked. "I heard about what happened with Boscha's wallet."

"She deserved it," Willow muttered.

Sensing the tension between Amity and Willow, Luz changed the subject. "So, how many tickets do we have so far?"

Looking over everything, Edric and Emira counted up the tickets. "Looks like we're almost there. A few more games and we'll all be able to get something," Emira informed.

"I wanna get that puzzle cube I saw," Gus exclaimed as he was ready for getting a prize.

"Well, I'm getting a pocket mirror," Edric stated. "It'll actually be useful."

"Like checking the zit on your cheek right now," Emira joked, getting a reaction from her brother.

"Where!?"

While the twins started to argue, Luz turned to Amity. "So, what are you going to get for a prize," she asked the youngest Blight.

"Oh, uh... I'm not really sure," Amity responded while Willow got more tickets from the ring toss booth.

"We'll check over everything later," Luz told Amity. "We just to get more t-"

Suddenly, a large number of tickets fell onto Luz's head while an owl hooted. "Owlbert? Is that you," King asked as he looked at Luz and saw the bird landing on her shoulder.

"Aww, did you play some games, too? I bet you had fun, you cute widdle birdy," Luz said as she rubbed her cheek against Owlbert's head. "Let's go get those prizes!"

"And then we can go on the bumper cars," Gus exclaimed.

Everyone but Amity cheered, however the green-haired girl still smiled as they made their way over to the prize booth. As they waited for the attendant to count the tickets for himself, everyone looked at their desired prizes in glee or thought about what they wanted. "Eres un pequeño búho tan lindo," Luz said in Spanish as she looked at the Rowlet toy, then heard Willow say something to another next to it in Korean.

"How about after this, we go into the Hall of Mirrors before the bumper cars or Ferris Wheel," Edric suggested.

"It'll be fun to go through the maze," Emira added.

"Wouldn't you get lost with all the mirrors messing with you," Luz asked.

"I remember something like that in an episode of an old cartoon my dad and I like to watch together," Gus stated as he collected his prize of a Rubik's Cube. "You guys know about 'Static Shock'? There was an episode where Static had to fight a guy that could clone himself and he couldn't figure who was the real one. He was in an old theme park's hall of mirrors and he told the guy something about finding your way through the maze before he zapped the guy. The trick for a mirror maze is to watch your feet, not the walls."

"I remember that show," Luz exclaimed. "It's a fun series. Too bad it never got a crossover episode with Teen Titans before. That would have been amazing."

"At least there's always fanfiction," Amity remarked. "You could always write something up yourself."

"Not with everything I have planned for my other fics," Luz countered. "Moving on, did you choose a prize yet, Amity?"

Looking over everything, Amity soon saw a few prizes that caught her attention. A plush rabbit that reminded her of Otabin at Palisman Café, an Espeon plush from Pokémon, and a Good Witch Azura figurine. "I want those two," Amity said to the attendant as she pointed at the Espeon doll and Azura figure.

Grabbing the toys for her, the attendant handed the prizes over before checking the remaining tickets. "Great choices," Luz said. "I've actually got an Umbreon in my toy collection back home. My mom said she was mailing it over here soon."

"How is your mom doing lately? Have you told her about school," Amity asked while the attendant gave Edric his pocket mirror and Emira a makeup kit.

"Well, I told her about Viney and the others," Luz stated. "She's actually glad to know I have a new friend that wants to be a veterinarian like her."

"I thought she was a nurse," Gus remarked, remembering when he gave Luz a tour of Hexside and she helped Skara out after her failed trick shot.

"She's both. She went to medical school to become a nurse and became a vet too. It was a lot of trouble for her to learn what she could, but she's able to help out animals and people," Luz explained. "She'll probably get a job at the hospital or a vet's clinic when she's able to get here."

"I bet she'll definitely like the Owl House then," King remarked. "And of course, me!"

"Oh, she definitely would," Luz said before picking up King and scratching his belly, making the dog laugh and squirm happily.

The attendant cleared his throat to get the attention of the girl and dog. "You have enough left for the bracelets and the owls. Enjoy," he said as he dropped the friendship bracelets on King's head, then went to get the Rowlet dolls. But before he did, Owlbert flew up to them and hooted happily. "Hey! Those aren't your parents! Get down from there," he exclaimed.

"Yes! Now Luz and I will have a bond as mighty as these trinkets," King declared as Luz fit one of the bracelets into King's collar.

"Depends on what they're made of," Emira remarked.

After Owlbert flew back onto Luz's shoulder, the attendant finally managed to get the Pokémon dolls for Luz and Willow. "Here you go, girls. Enjoy the rest of your day," the man said as he sat back and read a magazine.

Cheering as she got the plush owl, Luz couldn't help but do a happy little dance. As the others chuckled at Luz's energy, they went off to have fun throughout the rest of the carnival. "Come on, let's go have some fun," Luz shouted happily as she ran ahead of everyone.

After setting everything up for the show and practicing, Raine was feeling nervous when the performance was scheduled to start soon. Seeing this, the BATs were worried for their leader as they kept poking their head out from behind the curtains. "Raine, it'll be fine. You have your mask and we've been practicing," Derwin stated.

"We don't even have to have anybody sing," Amber added.

Raine only kept pacing and they looked one second away from bolting. It was at this point that Eda arrived. "Well, the crowd's not all that big, but everyone Katya invited from the café is here," Eda said with Owlbert on her shoulder. "And they apparently have a couple of stuffed animals with them," she added when she saw Luz and her friends with their prizes. When Eda saw Raine looking ready to run, she sighed. "Just like back at Hexside. Guess you aren't 100% ready with that mask," the Owl Lady remarked.

"Just breathe, Raine," Katya said to help the band leader, but it wasn't working as Raine started to hyperventilate.

Thinking about it for a moment, Eda snapped her fingers before speaking to her ex. "Rainestorm, how about this? Try and imagine the audience in their underwear," she suggested.

Upon hearing that, Raine's frantic breathing stopped as they looked at Eda. "Gross! Why would you suggest that," they exclaimed with a blush on their cheeks.

"Hey, it got you to focus on something else, didn't it," Eda laughed. "The trick is to ignore their eyes. Think about if they were different than how they actually are. In their underwear, wearing big hats, or even if you just picture them with animal heads. Try being nervous when you see nothing but a bunch of puppies looking at you. Hahaha!"

Listening to Eda's advice, Raine looked out at the crowd and tried to picture the crowd differently than how they really looked. After doing so, they calmed down considerably and adjusted their mask. "Okay, it's working. I think I can do this now," Raine said as they picked up their violin.

"Good to know," Eda replied. "It's showtime."

Soon, the curtains were raised up and each member of the band was seen wearing their bat masks. "Citizens of Bonesborough! We are the Bards Against the Throne and we are here to spread our message through... the music of our hearts," Raine said as they introduced the band, but hesitated partway through. "Do I really have to say this," they whispered to the others.

"We all agreed on the script," Katya stated. "Let's just play."

"Right, right, right," Raine replied in a hushed voice before holding up their violin and speaking to the crowd again. "Now, let's enjoy the rest of the carnival together," the band leader exclaimed before starting the first song of the set.

With the BATs playing what sounded like folksy medieval music fit for a group of actual bards in a fantasy setting, Luz and the others enjoyed the small concert together while Edric and Emira brought food to everyone. After a few of the songs, Luz soon focused her attention on one of the band members. "Wait, is that Eda," the Latina questioned before Owlbert flew off toward the stage. With the bird landing inside the mess of gray hair and the woman wasn't bothered by it, Luz's question was answered.

After enough time had passed and most of the set was completed, Raine and Eda took to the center of the stage. Playing their violin, Raine began the final song of the performance before Eda joined in with her lute. The duo began to play an emotional piece that felt like the music itself was affecting the entire area. Luz and her friends were mesmerized by the beautiful melody that was played. When the song came to an end, the audience cheered for the band and applauded. Seeing how the crowd loved the music, Eda chuckled. "This is the sort of thing you missed out on, but I wasn't going to pressure you then. You had to come to terms with it on your own, Raine," the Owl Lady said as Owlbert flew onto her shoulder.

Raine laughed slightly as they turned to Eda. "Yeah, I guess you're right."

As the band went backstage, Eda pulled out one of her business cards and gave it to Raine. "Here. In case you want to stop by and talk more," she told her ex.

Taking the card for Palisman Café, Raine looked at it before returning their focus to Eda. "Thanks for everything today," they said.

"No problem," Eda said before seeing somebody make their way backstage.

"Eda! I knew it was you," Luz said as she and King made their way toward the Owl Lady. "What are you doing here?"

"Hey, kid. I was just meeting up with an old friend and they wanted my help," Eda explained.

Seeing how Eda was acting with Luz, Raine was surprised. "Eda, do you have kids!?"

"Well, not of my own. Luz is just my employee at the café. And lives with me until her family moves into town," Eda explained.

"Hello," Luz greeted. "I'm Luz Noceda."

"Raine Whispers," the band leader greeted back with a smile. "How did you enjoy the music?"

"It was amazing," Luz exclaimed. "I loved everything, but that last song was so beautiful! It was all like something that could fit in Dungeons and Dragons."

Hearing this, Raine laughed. "Well, I do actually enjoy playing D&D when possible," they remarked. "I've always enjoyed playing a bard character, so why not actually play that type of music for fun?"

"I know what you mean. I'd love to be able to do magic like some of my characters," Luz said.

Seeing how Luz and Raine were getting along, Eda cleared her throat to get their attention. "Well, it's been fun, but we gotta get going. Stop by the café when you can. See you around, Rainestorm. You too, BATs," Eda told the band before she left with Luz and King.

"Bye, Mama Eda," Amber said as she waved farewell to Eda.

As Eda waved to the Bards Against the Throne, Luz looked at her boss. "Your day seemed fun," she remarked.

"And judging from that new toy in your arms, so did yours," Eda replied with a smirk as Owlbert poked his head out of her hair.

"So, can you tell me more about your friend, Raine? They seemed nice," Luz asked.

"What about your friends," Eda countered as she saw Gus, Willow, and the Blight Siblings all walking away from the area.

"They all went to enjoy the rest of the carnival on their own," King explained.

Waving to her friends as they all went off, Luz returned the conversation back to the original topic. "Now how about Raine?"

Eda sighed as Owlbert flew onto her shoulder. "I'm not going to hear the end of this, but we used to date back in Hexside and before they went to college," Eda admitted. Hearing this, Luz gasped and practically had stars in her eyes. "I'll explain more when we get home and I can have myself a cup of hard cider. Or an Irish coffee," Eda said, not wanting to continue the talk without something to drink at the Owl House.

And now with this chapter finished, I've done a different version of the carnival episode. Rather than have Tibbles and a shrinking potion, I thought it would have been more fun to bring Raine Whispers into the story because of their character in Season 2's episode, "Eda's Requiem". This also gave us more bonding between Luz and her friends, including Amity. I hope you all enjoyed it as next chapter, we'll be moving onto one of my favorite episodes, "Understanding Willow".

With the events in the next chapter, we'll be seeing a different way of getting that plot into this AU that I've been thinking of for both the memory photos and how they fix Willow's head. Prepare for a sci-fi twist to the episode and references to Psychonauts. I love that game and Psychonauts 2.

Oh, side note. For Grom after that chapter, I'll need to figure out the whole Grom Royalty thing, so I'd like help from you in the comments/reviews. Would you rather have the Grom Queen announced before the dance like in canon or shall it be more of a popularity contest where there's multiple nominated girls for Grom Queen? I already have plans for who would be nominated alongside Amity, but I want to know if you're more interested in a vote for Grom Queen during the dance itself instead of the canon fear monster or if you'd rather have a different conflict for Luz to be involved with due to the AU differences.

Until next time, WaterDragonMaverick signing out!
