Jason waited outside the room while Lyla got her spinal. He said another quick prayer while waiting and soon was called in.

"Hey," Lyla said as she saw him.

"Hi."

"They're about to get started," Lyla told him.

"I still can't believe we'll actually end up with six kids," said Jason.

"Well, we did always want a big family," said Lyla.

"I just figured they'd come one at a time," Jason added.

"Lyla, do you feel anything?" the doctor asked.

"No."

"Okay, good. Your spinal is working then. We're about to get started."

Jason looked around the room. There were four doctors, one for each baby, four incubators, and four ventilators and four CPAP machines in case the babies needed help breathing after birth.

"All right," said the doctor, "here comes the first baby. Here we go. This is a boy."

Jason and Lyla immediately heard a cry. And the first baby was lifted over the curtain for a brief glimpse. He was tiny, but screaming.

Once the first baby was handed off to the neonatologist, the doctor continued, "Here's Baby 'B'. We have another boy." The second baby also started crying and was briefly lifted over the curtain. He was smaller than the first one, but looked good. He was soon passed off to the second neonatologist as the delivery continued.

"Here's 'C'. And we have a girl." The same drill was repeated with the third baby, who was also screaming.

"Now for the mystery baby," Lyla whispered to Jason, who smiled.

"Okay, here's 'D'. The mystery," the doctor continued. "This one's the biggest one. And we have a boy!"

"Baby 'D''s a boy!" said Jason.

"Three boys and one girl," added Lyla, as they heard the last baby crying. He was the loudest.

Lyla told Jason to go check on the babies while the doctors finished up. Jason went over to get a look at his three new sons and new daughter.

First, he went over to Baby "A". The doctor told Jason that Baby "A" was doing well, seemed to be breathing fine, and weighed three pounds, five ounces.

Baby "B" was needing some help from the CPAP, and was smaller, at two pounds, fourteen ounces, but also looked good.

Baby "C", the only girl, weighed three pounds, seven ounces, and only needed a little oxygen for breathing support.

And Baby "D" was the biggest at three pounds, eleven ounces, and was breathing very well. Jason was glad to get good reports on all the babies. He relayed the info to Lyla and then went out to the waiting room to tell the family.

"They're all here," said Jason. "Three boys and one girl." Everyone cheered.

"So the mystery baby was a boy?" Jason's father asked.

"Yes," said Jason.

Lyla's parents asked how she was doing, and Jason assured them that Lyla was fine and the delivery had gone very smoothly.

"Can we see them on their way to the NICU?" Jason's mother asked.

"Sure," said Jason. Maddie, Noah, and all four grandparents followed Jason to see the babies all going to the NICU. Maddie and Noah were very excited to see their new siblings.

"What are their names?" Noah asked.

"They don't have names yet," Jason told him. "Once Mommy and I really get to see them, we'll pick their names."

"We've discussed a lot of names, though," added Maddie. "I hope you'll pick some cool ones."

"Yeah, really cool names," said Noah.

"We sure will," said Jason.

Once Lyla was out of surgery, Jason got a nurse to wheel her bed over to the NICU so they could see the babies and finally decide on their names.

"This is Baby 'A'," Jason told her.

"Well, we need to trade their letters for names," Lyla said. "After all the months of discussion, the time has come."

"Yes, it has."

"I think this baby looks like a Caleb," said Lyla. "Caleb is a good, strong biblical name that goes well with Noah."

"Caleb," said Jason. "We agreed that the middle names would have significance. We already have a Madelyn Garrity and a Noah Buddy Mitchell, so what should Caleb's middle name be?"

Lyla thought about it and suggested Eric, after Coach Taylor.

"Caleb Eric Street," said Jason. "I like it."

"One down, three to go," said Lyla, as they headed over to Baby "B".

Once they saw Baby "B", who was a bit smaller, they figured he needed a strong name. Lyla liked Ryan, due to it meaning "little king." They felt that was a strong meaning for a little baby.

"And I know the middle name we should pick for him, too," Jason said. "Matthew. It goes well with Ryan."

Lyla knew who Matthew was likely for, and agreed. "Ryan Matthew Street. Okay, Let's see the third baby."

The middle names for the third baby, they already knew would be Pamela Joanne, after both Lyla's and Jason's mothers. Jason wanted a sports-themed name for the girl, so he suggested Shea.

"Shea. Like Shea Stadium?" Lyla asked, laughing.

"Sure," said Jason. "It's a cute name."

"Shea Pamela Joanne Street. I like it," said Lyla

They still had one last baby to name. Jason got to name this one, as he had already named Shea, and Lyla had named Caleb and Ryan.

"After seeing him, we should go with Austin," said Jason. "A Texas-theme name."

"I like that," said Lyla

"Austin Timothy Street," said Jason. "For our friend."

Once the babies were all named, Jason went back to the waiting room to tell the family, while Lyla was taken back to her room to rest.

"The babies have all been named," Jason told the grandparents, Maddie, and Noah.

"Really?" Maddie asked.

"What are they?" Noah wanted to know. The grandparents were also eager to find out.

"Baby 'A' is Caleb Eric. Baby 'B' is Ryan Matthew. Baby 'C' is Shea Pamela Joanne." The grandmothers smiled at this announcement. "And Baby 'D' is Austin Timothy," Jason finished.

"You did pick cool names," Maddie approved.

"Yes, you did," agreed Noah.

"I'm glad you think so," said Jason. "Do you want to see them?"

"Sure!" Maddie and Noah both said. So Jason brought them over to the NICU to see their new brothers and sister.

"I can't wait to hold them!" said Maddie.

"Me too!" said Noah.

Jason then realized that the babies had been born on Memorial Day. It had certainly been a memorable Memorial Day for them.

Maddie and Noah were a very proud big sister and brother to Caleb, Ryan, Shea and Austin. Once they got to see them, they immediately loved them.

"They're so tiny," said Maddie.

"And they're sleeping," Noah observed.

"I just hope they'll sleep like that when we bring them home," Jason said with a smile, as they left the NICU to go see Lyla.
