The Missing
Chapter 2
"So what's the problem?" Greg Sanders asked when he, Catherine Willows, Nick Stokes, Jim Brass and Grissom walked into Sara's unkempt apartment. It looked like she hadn't cleaned for weeks. There were papers and documents all over the floor.
"Come with me," Warrick said as they made there way to Sara's up-turned desk.
"Does that look like blood to you?" Warrick asked as he pointed to a very conspicuous, very large, red spot on the ivory colored carpet covering the hardwood floors.
"I'll swab it," Catherine said, pulling the swabs out of her kit.
…Hours Later…
"I'm going back to the lab and taking these to DNA. Does anyone have anything I can take back with me?" Catherine asked while packing up his kit.
"Uh, yeah, here, take these fingerprints and the hair," Nick said, handing Catherine the evidence.
…Later…
Grissom sat behind his desk, staring at the crime scene photos scattered about on the desk before him.
But the photos weren't the only things running through his mind. She was. And everything that didn't happen between them. Things that now may never happen between them. He knew he should have said yes to her dinner invitation.
"Grissom?" Catherine asked when she walked into his office.
"GRISSOM!" She said again, this time raising her voice causing anyone who walked by to look in their direction.
"What is it? Did you get the results?"
Catherine looked down at the paper, "The-the blood-it's-the blood belongs to Sara."
Grissom dropped the crime scene photos he had just picked up, letting them scatter all over the linoleum floor.
