Epilogue
"And together, they lived happily ever after."
Kairi's big smile beamed brightly towards Lucy. "I know I'm older now, but I still love when you read your books to me."
Lucy smiled back and patted Kairi's covered-up legs. "I love reading to you, too. I'm sure you'll pass that love onto your baby sister."
"Of course, I will!"
Lucy slowly stood up from the side of the bed. "Time to go to bed now, okay? That way you can dream of all the stories you want to share with us when you wake up."
"Okayyyyy." Kairi pouted. "Can I say goodnight?"
Lucy smiled softly. "Of course."
Kairi sat up and leaned towards Lucy's growing belly. "Goodnight! I can't wait to meet you." Kairi kissed Lucy's belly and lay back down.
"Oh!" Lucy felt the baby move slightly. "She says, 'Goodnight to you, too, Kairi.'"
After she finished tucking Kairi into bed, Lucy made her way to the living room of her apartment. Well, it was really their apartment anymore. She had wanted to take things slow but had found Natsu showing up more and more at her place as their initial months together flew by. In fact, no one had made any complaints about it. They had only listened and supported her.
After she had found out that Loke had lied to her, even if it was a lie of omission, she had been done. The next morning after she'd told him she couldn't marry him, he'd tried to talk to her again, get her to understand that he had only been trying to protect her back in high school, but then everything had blown out of control. He had even said, "I just figured that you had stopped loving him after a point." Oh had she lost any composure she'd had left at that point. She could never go into the details of exactly how bad that day of trying to figure things out with Loke had gone. She had stayed at Levy's for only a brief time before the baby arrived.
While she had started looking for her own place while at Levy's, she hadn't found one until a few weeks at Erza's. After her move, she'd just thrown herself into her book tours, traveling for a few articles, and then had found herself on a spring day walking to visit her mother's grave as she hadn't visited in a long time. Since then… Well, the rest was history, as she'd eventually pen it onto paper.
The pictures on the hallway wall also showed their time together over their past few years together, which Lucy paused to look at as she walked past them.
"Lucy," Natsu groaned. "Do we have to watch this show? I don't really want to…"
"And I bet you don't want to have to deal with a pregnant woman either, do you?" Lucy walked into the living room.
He smiled at her. "I'd deal with you any day over this."
She sighed. "Alright." She'd just switch to her show once he fell asleep like always.
Lucy lay down on the couch leaning against Natsu. He lay his left arm over her shoulder. She looked at his hand and smiled, acknowledging his ring. She looked down at her own ring, then kissed his cheek. "So, what are we going to watch?"
"Hmmm. How about we figure something out together that we'd both like?"
She nodded and leaned her head against him, her hand on her belly, happy to stay this way for a little bit longer until chaos ensued in their lives again. But this time, in a happy way.
A/N: Welp, that's it, folks. Of course, I'm not going to show all of the major moments. Those can be left to your imagination of how they went. I love showing the small moments that really make everything seem worth it. Plus, having been in relationships myself, the major moments are wonderful, but it's the smaller and simpler ones that get me by. I hope you enjoyed this! I know I enjoyed writing it before the hiatus and even after! I'm happy that I finally finished this in a way that past me couldn't think of. Thanks for reading! 3
