Chapter 8: Knife-Edge Death Match (filler)

Chu had brought up the proposal of a knife-edge death match since they were both running on empty when it came to actual spirit/demonic energy. He even supplied the knives and both fighters got into position, their heels on the edge of the sharp blades that were stuck into the ground. However, Koto had refused to allow such a thing until they heard from the committee. And so the wait began.

The foxy referee pulled out a cellphone and started texting, bored out of her mind though her ears twitched every so often due to the rising tension. She didn't understand what was taking the committee so long to decide, after all it wasn't like the knife-edge death match wouldn't have blood and bruises and, as implied by the name, death. But rules were rules.

Her green eyes turned to her idol, Kagome. She was so pretty...so cute swaddled in that over-large kimono like a pup playing dress up. It looked masculine but it lacked the of scent of a man to claim her so it was fine. She snuck a quick picture and looked at it before frowning. 'Too many boys around her...' She then cropped the picture to only show Kagome and her brilliant smile, her lovely exotic blue orbs. The fox's smile returned. 'Perfect~"

Now don't get her wrong-- Koto liked boys as much as girls-- she was a kitsune after all. But the miko was different. The only way she wanted to even think about Kagome being near a man for any reason besides friendship was if Koto was right there beside her, giving her the pleasure that kitsune had perfected. Truthfully, she would prefer to have another fox demon in their little threesome to compete for the innocent priestess' attention. Kitsune did make the best lovers and no other species could compare to them in acts of the bedroom.

Koto's eyes roamed over the men surrounding Kagome and she couldn't resist the surge of superiority. Rinku was just a boy-- no competition but it certainly showcased the human female's excellent mothering skills. Kuwabara was instantly ignored. Hiei hovered over her but his attitude and scathing remarks only did one thing, piss Kagome off. (Boy, she looked hot when angry~) She heard Yusuke's girlfriend in the audience and thus dismissed the human fighter as well as Chu, who was SO not her type. That left Kurama, who presented the biggest (only) threat for the miko's affection. His calm exterior and lovely red hair, his overwhelming charm... too bad he wasn't a fox demon but she could feel some sort of demonic auras encased in that han shell... maybe he could be the third in their threesome. But only if Kagome required a man. It wouldn't hurt her feelings if Koto was enough for the raven-haired human woman.

Since the committee was taking so long to make the right decision, she rushed over to Kagome, bushy tail waving happily. "Can I get a picture with you? All of grandfather's stories about you have given me a major hero-crush and my brothers, sisters, and cousins would just die from jealousy if I had proof that I met the real Kagome~"

Blue eyes blinked in surprise but she smiled that friendly smile and gave her consent. Koto was over the moon with her happiness. She handed her phone to Kuwabara after getting the camera app back on then went to get right beside Kagome, Rinku moving away from the crazed kitsune. Hiei didn't move from her so Koto wrapped her arms around Kagome and nuzzled her cheek with hers. The miko was tense but slowly relaxed for the camera. A click later, Kuwabara handed back the phone so the two women could review his photo-snapping skills. Apparently it was good enough if the announcer's squeal was an indication.

"Oh, oh! We should have a slumber party! It would be so much fun, just close girl friends hanging out in their sleepwear, watching movies, eating snacks, and sharing secrets~ it's so hard to find demon friends to do anything other than fight or flirt. Makai is nothing like the feudal era when humans and demons shared the same world..."

Kagome tilted her head at the sudden change in topic. A slumber party could be fun as long as they didn't stay up too late. She still wanted to cheer the guys on. "I'm sharing a suite with Botan..." She looked over at the reaper who shrugged. "And I have a feeling that Keiko and Kuwabara's sister came here without thinking of a hotel reservation so they'll probably be rooming with us. So... what do you think, Botan?"

The bubbly blue-haired team 'trainer' was all for it and despite her happiness, Koto was a bit disappointed that it wouldn't just be the two of them. Oh well, with so many people, they were sure to have a blast and be able to do their jobs in the morning. And she could learn more about the infamous miko who was practically her family's savior. With a grandfather like hers, she was raised to show humans a decent amount of respect so she wasn't nearly as prejudiced as other demons. However, she was prone to say what she was thinking as far as the weakness of the human bodies and delight in the pain of all creatures as long as they weren't her loved ones-- it was just a demon thing.

Kagome grinned and was already planning which snacks and drinks to get. Her thoughts were interrupted by the female announcer voice over the intercom. The knife-edge death match had been accepted ad a flash of lightning illuminated the fighters in the ring. It seemed that even nature had a flair for the dramatic in this fight. The miko just hoped this would be a dry storm.
