Ginny sat under a large tree a little ways from her house, watching the clouds slowly drift across the vast, blue sky.She thought about Harry, the only thing she had thought about since he came to stay for the wedding. He was leaving that day, in only an hours time.
How will I live without him? She thought to herself. The tears were threatening to come, but she pushed them back. She felt a hand on her shoulder, and she quickly turned her head to see who it belonged to.
"I—came to say goodbye, Ginny. I'll miss you so much."
Ginny looked into Harry's bright green eyes. She couldn't keep the tears back any longer. With a loud sob, she threw her arms around him and held on tightly, not wanting to ever let go.
"I love you, Harry. Promise me you will come back."
She looked up at his face again. He smiled at her and wiped her tears away.
"I promise, Gin. I'll come back for you. Then we can start over, together. Don't forget me while I'm gone."
Ginny gave him a small smile. "How could I forget this adorable face? Don't you forget me, either." Harry grinned and leaned close to Ginny's face. "How could I forget you, Ginny?" Hekissedher, and shefelt her knees go weak.
Harryhugged her again. He looked at her and smiled. "Look what you did. I feel like I can't leave now."
"You don't have to, Harry. You don't have to leave." Ginny felt the tears coming again. Harry put his hands on her arms and looked straight into her brown eyes.
"I have to, Ginny. But when I come back, I promise I won't leave you." He slowly walked away, giving her one last look before he was gone. Ginny watched as his figure disappeared into the shadows of the trees. She slowly sat down on the grass, andwatched as Harry disappeared.Shesat there, hoping he would come back to her.
A few months later, Ginny went back to that tree like she had every afternoon since Harry's departure. She usually sat there watching the birds fly by, or daydreaming about Harry. Today, though, she spent her time reading the letter shegot from Harry over and over. Her heart lightened a little bit knowing he was safe.
Dear Ginny,
I'm counting the days until I come back. I've missed you and everyone else so much. Sometimes I worry how you all are doing back home, but I know that you're a strong girl and nothing will happen with you around. I lay asleep at night and dream about if I hadn't done this, if I had stayed there and let someone else take care of everything. There would be more time with you, but the sooner I finish this all, finish the evil, the sooner you and I will really be happy together. I look forward to when I see everyone again, and I think that time is coming sooner than it seems. I love you; don't forget that.
With all my love,
Harry
Ginny smiled to herself as she read it for the hundredth time. She didn't know how much longer she would have to wait to see Harry, but she knew she would see him again. She knew he would come back for her, for everyone. He was going to make everything bettering their world, and then they could have the rest of their lives together.
She read over the letter once more, and then carefully folded it back up and slid it into the pocket on her shirt, right in front of her heart. She sighed and closed her eyes. She could see herself with Harry on their wedding day, with their first child, and with family on Christmas morning. She laughed to herself as she imagined holding a tiny version of Harry in her arms.
She pictured herself there with Harry at her side, on a perfect day like this one. She opened her eyes and looked to her left, and thought she could almost see him sitting there.
She took abit of hair that was dangling over her shoulders and began twisting it between her fingers. She sighed again and felt a small tear creep down her face. As Ginny looked at the amazing sights around her, she knew that in the end, everything would be perfect, everything would be alright.
