"How do you draw so good, Luz?" King asked the human, who was drawing away on an easel.
"Yeah, how do you do it?" asked Strix. "All I can do is..." He showed Luz a drawing of stick man versions of himself, Luz and Eda.
"I'm glad you asked that question, my friends. Drawing can be fun once you know a few tricks. I like to break characters down into simple shapes." Luz drew triangles and circles that took the form of King and Eda. "Here's you, and Eda is made of these shapes. Hooty is really easy. He's just a circle and a tube."
"So realistic," said King.
Just then Hooty appeared. "Hi. What are you guys up to?" He took one look at the drawing of himself and hissed at it.
"Hooty?" Luz asked warily.
"WHO ARE YOU, THIS IS MY TERRITORY!" Hooty slashed at the drawing with his beak, forcing the kids and King to intervene.
"It's just a drawing, you stupid door knocker," Strix shouted.
"Thanks for calming me down back there, guys. I can get a little territorial."
The kids and King watched the bizarre scene from behind a corner. "Hooty's been talking to those drawings of us for, like, seven hours," said King.
"That's the magic of drawing with good proportions," said Luz. "It makes things look real."
"Do you think we should tell him," asked Strix.
Then Hooty saw them and shrieked, "Wait a minute, who are you?! I'M FREAKING OUT!"
They slunk away.
