Blaize of Glory
By Misha
Disclaimer- I don't own anything to do with "Veronica Mars", I really wish I did, but I don't. It belongs to Rob Thomas and the UPN. I'm not making any money off of this, so please don't sue me.
Author's Notes- This is just a short piece that just sort of came to me. I love pre-show fics dealing with "the fab four" mostly because I love them. "Wrath of Con" is my favorite episode strictly because of the Homecoming-flashbacks. The foursomes was just so, well, fabulous. That's all for now, enjoy!
Pairing- Logan/Lilly, Duncan/Veronica.
Summery- "I'm going to die first in some blaze of glory while at the height of my fame and beauty. It'll be tragic, the whole world'll mourn me."
Spoilers- Nothing, really.
Rating- PG
"I'm going to be the first to die." Lilly announced sunnily.
Her three companions all looked at her in surprise since that particular announcement had come out of nowhere.
"Why do you say that?" Logan asked cautiously, playing with Lilly's hair.
They were all hanging around the Kane pool, Lilly and Logan were cuddled in a lawn chair while Veronica and Duncan were sitting in the shallow end, on the steps.
"Because, it's obvious." Lilly said with an eye-roll. "Duncan and Veronica are going to grow really old and become one of those sweet old couples in the nursing home, still devoted after like 60 years of marriage."
Duncan squeezed Veronica's hand at the words and they shared a sweet smile. Both of them believing Lilly's words, knowing that they'd be together forever.
"You," she said talking to Logan, "are going to live until at least middle age and be one of those sexy older men who can still get sixteen year olds into bed."
Veronica giggled at the pronouncement.
"Sounds good to me." Logan said with a cocky grin. "Sixteen year olds, huh?"
Lilly just smiled. "You've got good genes. I don't know how you'll die, but it'll be dramatic--maybe you'll have a heart attack during sex."
Duncan and Veronica both laughed, while Logan just smirked. "Oh, what a way to go."
More laughter.
"That leaves me," Lilly continued, "and let's face it, I'm totally not the old age type. No, I'm going to die first in some blaze of glory while at the height of my fame and beauty. It'll be tragic, the whole world'll mourn me."
They all laughed at that, thinking how typically Lilly it was.
"And, of course, you three will mourn me for the rest of your lives." Lilly informed them grandly.
"Of, course." Duncan agreed, rolling his eyes.
Logan and Veronica both laughed and the subject was changed to something else on Lilly's whim, thoughts of death and old age leaving them.
Later, after Lilly was gone, the others would remember that conversation.
Lilly had been right, she had been the first to die and she'd died young and tragically. Of, course she'd never gotten a chance to be famous and she hadn't reached her peak yet, she couldn't have, but her death made headlines everywhere. Just like she would have wanted.
The three of them would also all mourn for the rest of their lives, no truth could really change that. They think that she would have wanted that, too.
They all wonder later how she could have known, how she could have guessed what her tragic fate would be and would individually decide that they'd never know for sure.
Still, at least Lilly had gotten her blaize of glory, just like she wanted.
- The End
