Lex watches on from his office high above the city, as the destruction downtown continues. His phone rings. He looks at it. It's Amanda Waller. He answers it.

"Waller." Lex says calmly.

"Luthor! What is going on up there?" Waller demands.

"We've ran into a little problem." Lex says.

"Please tell me this isn't Cadmus related." Waller says.

"It would seem one of your scientists administered the wrong dosage to Project Doomsday. And now, Doomsday is here." Lex says.

"This is bad Lex. The body count is already too high." Waller says.

"Well right now, our only hope is Big Blue." Lex says.

Superman stands there looking at the behemoth that is Doomsday. Doomsday yells as he charges towards Superman.

"Everyone clear the area. NOW!" Superman commands to the few people around still looking on.

Superman flies towards Doomsday as Doomsday charges towards Superman. Superman grabs Doomsday around the waist and flies straight up.

Gotta get him out of the city, away from people. Superman thinks to himself.

But it's a challenge. Doomsday continues to squirm in Superman's arms. High above the city, Doomsday breaks free of Superman's grip.

"NO!" Superman shouts.

Doomsday drops back to the city. He lands on top of a building and Superman is forced to watch it collapse to the ground. Doomsday emerges from the rubble unharmed.

What is this thing? Superman wonders.

Superman flies back down towards Doomsday. Doomsday picks up a concrete block in the rubble. He chucks it at Superman. Superman catches the block, and gently puts it on the ground. He turns around just as Doomsday charges him and punches him straight in the face. It sends Superman flying through a window in the building across the street.

Lois scrambles through the crowd that is fleeing the scene. It was like nothing she had ever seen before. She had grown up in a military family, but had never seen combat like this before. Especially in the middle of a metropolitan area. There was rubble and broken glass all around. Then she bumped into someone.

"Jimmy?" Lois says.

"Miss Lane?" Jimmy says back.

"Come on." Lois says.

"Where are we going?" Jimmy asks.

"Back to the Planet." Lois says.

Superman comes out the front of the building. That hit from Doomsday hurt, a lot. He shakes it off only to see Doomsday charging at him again. This time Superman blocks Doomsday's punch and hits the monster with an uppercut of his own. Doomsday is rattled as he staggers back. Superman lunges forward and goes on the offense. He hits Doomsday with a fury of right hands and left hands. Although Superman is hitting with everything he's got, Doomsday stays on his feet. Doomsday swings his left elbow around, smacking Superman in the face. He then swings with his right arm knocking Superman off his feet. Superman rises to his knees, but Doomsday punches him down. Doomsday pounds Superman into the pavement until it breaks apart and both Doomsday and Superman fall into the subway below the city.

Superman is relieved to see that the subway is mostly empty. Most of the citizens have cleared out of the downtown area. Doomsday punches Superman forward onto the railroad tracks. Superman looks forward, and sees the third rail. As Doomsday jumps on top of him, Superman grabs Doomsday and spins around, bringing Doomsday in contact with the rail. The jolt of electricity shocks them both. But Superman lays on it as long as he can. Eventually an explosion sends them both flying. Superman is down, but so is Doomsday. Superman believes that he has taken the monster out. Until a moment later, he hears Doomsday growl.

No, Superman thinks to himself. Unsure of how to stop this beast.

Lois and Jimmy arrive at the Planet.

"Lois, what are you doing?" Perry asks.

"Someone has to cover this story chief." Lois says.

"You can't, it's too dangerous." Perry says.

Lois is in no mood. She swings a fist at Perry knocking him to the ground. Cat Grant, Steve Lombard, and Ron Troupe all look on.

"Anyone else want some?" Lois asks.

Everyone looks down.

"Come on Jimmy." Lois says.

"Where are we going?" Jimmy asks.

Lois takes Jimmy to the helicopter on the roof.

"Since when can you fly these things?" Jimmy asks.

"I'm a military brat, remember. I've been flying these since I was five." Lois responds.

Lois and Jimmy get in and head off to find Superman. They fly over the city, but there is no sign of Superman or the monster. It seems quiet. But from up here they can see Doomsday's trail of destruction. Eventually they hear a loud smack. They look down but still don't see anything. Jimmy looks through the lens of his camera, and he sees the entrance to a subway terminal break apart as Superman flies backwards through the air. Jimmy can't believe what he's seeing.

Superman hits the pavement again. He looks up at the street sign. Superman is on Fifth Street. The most beloved street in Metropolis. He has to defend this particular street with all his might. But today Superman is feeling a sensation he's not used to. Doubt.

Doomsday emerges from the subway entrance and charges again at Superman. Superman blocks Doomsday's advances. Knowing that he is on Fifth Street, Superman feels a surge of adrenaline. He swings again and again at Doomsday. This time knocking the creature off of its feet.

Lois and Jimmy watch on. Lois feels a swell of excitement. Superman is about to do it. He's about to stop the monster. She can tell how tired he is. She had never seen him take such a beating. His suit was torn, his cape as well. She thought he even might be bleeding, which she wasn't even sure if that was possible.

Superman punches again and again and the downed beast. He is tired. He takes a moment to pause and catch his breath. But in that moment, Doomsday punches at Superman and sends him flying back through the phone booth on the corner of Fifth Street. Superman gets back to his feet, but Doomsday grabs what is left of his cape and throws him through the front window of Tiffany's. The very shop where Clark had purchased Lois's ring. Superman punches back at Doomsday and sends him through the building across the street. Eighty years of tradition on Fifth Street was destroyed in minutes as building after building was destroyed by the clash of these two.

When they reach the end of the street, with a wake of destruction behind them, Doomsday grabs Superman by the throat. He punches again and again at his face. Blood really begins to flow from Superman's forehead.

Lois brings the helicopter down, closer to the action.

"Aren't you getting a bit close?" Jimmy asks.

"Camera on the action Jimmy." Lois says.

Jimmy lines up his camera for a shot. Doomsday turns around and sees the helicopter. Doomsday lunges up at the chopper.

"Oh shit! It can jump!" Jimmy exclaims.

Lois tries to tip the helicopter away from Doomsday. Doomsday grabs on to the bottom of the chopper. Sirens and warnings begin to beep and the chopper begins to tilt down. Doomsday grabs at the passenger side door and rips it off.

"AHHHHH!" Jimmy screams.

Before Doomsday can grab Jimmy, Superman flies through and pulls both Jimmy and Lois out of the chopper. He sets them gently on the ground as the chopper and Doomsday crash in a fiery explosion.

"Get out of here!" Superman demands.

Lois tries to hold on for and extra second as Superman heads towards the wreckage. Jimmy is already far in the opposite direction.

Superman sees Doomsday walk out of the flames, just like he expected. The two meet with another round of punches.

Got to try to fly him out of here again. Superman thinks to himself.

Superman ducks a punch from Doomsday and swings around to the back of the beast. This time Superman grabs him from behind and flies straight up.

Lois watches on. She can see something fall from Superman. She approaches the item to look. Lois sees that Superman just dropped a ring, her engagement ring. Lois gasps.

Superman flies Doomsday high above the city. This time Doomsday can't grab at him, since Superman has him from behind. Doomsday continues to squirm and Superman realizes he can't keep this grip to get Doomsday to space. So Superman turns around and pulls Doomsday back to earth. The two crash into the pavement. Doomsday head first. The crash not only smashes the pavement, but create such a quake that Lois falls off her feet. The crash was so devastating the Superman actually bounced a few times down the street.

Lois rushes to him.

"Superman, Superman!" Lois yells.

"Clark." She whispers into his ear.

From the latest pothole created, Doomsday rises again.

Lois turns around and sees the monster. She walks towards it.

"You want to come in here and ruin my city. Well now you have to deal with me." Lois says.

In that moment she truly believes she has the powers of Superman.

Doomsday runs forward at Lois. Just then, Superman's eyes open. He gets up and flies towards Doomsday. He punches at the beast with all his might. A punch so hard it turns Doomsday's head around, snapping his neck. The life goes out of Doomsday's eyes as the monster falls one final time. Superman falls beside it. Lois rushes over to him.

"Superman." Lois says softly.

"Lo-is." Superman says weakly.

He puts his hand on her face. This covers her cheek in blood. His body then goes limp.

"No." Lois says.

Lois sits there and cries. Cradling the lifeless body of Superman in her arms. People begin to emerge on the streets and gather in the area. Jimmy stands and snaps a photo of a lifeless Superman. Everyone watches on and cries as they witness the death of Superman.

Angela Chen is on the air at Metropolis News Five.

"And now I have the very unfortunate duty of announcing to you that Superman has been confirmed dead." Angela says.

Bibbo Bibbowski looks at his wall of Superman photos in his diner. He then locks the door and turns off the lights. He drops to his knees to pray.

"Hail Mary full of grace, the lord is with the." He begins.

Bruce looks on from the Batcave. He truly never believed anything could stop Superman. The Flash takes pause in Central City and just stands there in stunned silence, wondering what he could have done, what he should have done.

"Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed the fruit of thy womb Jesus."

Billy watches on too. He can't believe it. Superman was his idol. How was he ever supposed to be a hero without him? And then there's Raven. Superman meant everything to her. Just hearing the news gave her a headache and forced her to fight her own demon.

"Holy Mary mother of God, pray for us sinners."

Earnest Walker and the Cartwright's watched on. Superman had meant so much to them. News spread quickly everywhere. Even to Atlantis, where Arthur mourned his fallen friend.

"Now and at the hour of our death."

And hit worst of all was Smallville Kansas. At the Kent Family Farm, Martha Kent and Lana cried in each other's arms.

"Amen."
