Disclaimer: I don't own Gilmore Girls. I don't even own all the DVD sets, so really there's no use sewing me. I don't own the Dixie Chicks either (it's their song). I do own all their CDs, but still, I'm not worth sewing.
A/N: This was taken down a while ago because I didn't know where it was going. I have a better idea now, but if you have something you would like to see happen, a specific episode or song you would like included, let me know and I'll try to fit it in.
This chapter takes place at the end of 1.21, just after Max proposes to Lorelai and Roary gets back together with Dean. The whole story will probably be in Luke's POV.
Read and review, please!
There's Your Trouble
(Shoulda been different but it wasn't different,
Was the same old story, dear John and so long
Shoulda fit like a glove shoulda fit like a ring
Like a diamond ring token of true love
Should of all worked out but it didn't
She should be here now but she isn't.)
She had flown in here that afternoon, that glimmer of joy, of life, in her eyes that had first caught his attention. In that millisecond before she spoke he realized just how right Rachel had been.
(Flashback)
"Is there another guy?"
"No."
"Then what?"
"There's another girl."
"You telling me you're…"
"The other girl isn't for me Luke, it's for you."
"Okay, now that's crazy."
"Yeah?"
"Yeah."
"No."
"You feel you need a different excuse this time to mix things up a little, fine. But you are not leaving because of me."
"Where is she?" Lorelai's voice, somehow more cheerful and bubbly than usual, snaps him back to the present. She is waving something in his face, something bright yellow.
"Not here yet." He thinks that he should tell her now, because now he realizes that Rachel was right and he was wrong and he didn't have his heart in his relationship with Rachel, but, like that night when he went to pick up his toolbox, she won't let him get the words out.
"I need to tell her!" She is still waving the object in his face, and he finally reaches out and plucks it from her fingers.
"Why the hell are you waving a Daisy in my face?"
"The whole town gets one today," she says as though that explains everything. "I need to tell her!"
"Have some coffee while you wait," he says though it's obviously the last thing she needs. But for once she turns him down and runs out the door in search of her daughter and best friend. He sees Roary running down the street at the same time Lorelai sees her, and he watches Lorelai begin to run, too. He watches as they meet in the middle, as they throw their arms around each other, and in the sunlight he sees it. It sparkles on her left hand, and in that instant he knows he is too late.
(There's your trouble, there's your trouble
You seeing double with the wrong one.
And you can see I love you you can see she doesn't
But you just keep holding on, there's your trouble.)
A/N: I have the day off of school tomorrow and I have nothing better to do than sit and wait for reviews. And of course read and write fanfiction. Please make my day! Review my story I'll review yours, if I haven't already.
