Last time:
The whole room was littered with spare machine parts and papers with complicated equations written on them. Suddenly, a big screen on one of the walls turned on, revealing the face of Gerald Robotnik. He began to talk…
Chapter 5: Family Reunion
"Greetings Shadow and Sonic. I-"
"HEY PROFESSOR! CAN YOU PLAY WITH ME?" a voice that sounded like it belonged to a seven year old suddenly yelled. Shadow and Sonic turned around in alarm, eyes searching for the source of the voice. However, they soon realized that the voice was coming from the monitor…
The professor turned his head to the left, and yelled at something that was apparently off-screen.
"No Sonic, I'm very busy right now! Go play by yourself for now!"
"Awww, you're always busy! Come on, 'fessor, you gotta have some fun!" The voice said.
"Sonic, I'm 106 years old! Don't bother me right now if you don't want to get grounded for a week!" The Professor said irritably.
"Sheesh, fine I'll go play by myself." The voice said. The Professor sighed and turned back to face Sonic and Shadow.
"As you can see Sonic, you were extremely annoying when you were seven years old." Chuckled Robotnik.
Sonic's jaw dropped, and Shadow resisted the urge to say, "Like you're not annoying now."
Gerald Robotnik straightened his goggles (or glasses, whatever you want to call the big round thingy).
"Now where was I? Ah, yes. Ahem…welcome Shadow and Sonic, to my secret base….
After Gerald Robotnik basically explained the whole Chapter 1…"Holy shit." Sonic mumbled.
I guess it wasn't the Professor's fault. Shadow thought.
"Now Sonic," Gerald continued, "You are probably wondering why you don't remember living here with me. That, I'm afraid, is my doing. You see, there's a reason why you are so afraid of water. I made you to have hydrophobia so that you'd never leave this Island. However, I also knew that you HAD to leave some day, so I made it so that once you leave this Island, most of your pervious memories would be wiped away, with only a few that will tell you who you are and where you were born. Why, you ask? I knew weren't the most…err…intellectual hedgehog, and you might accidentally give away the location of my hideout. Besides, I did not wish for you to know that you were created, well not at that young age, anyway. When I created Shadow, I realized that even though he was always happy with Maria, he was still somewhat confused as to why he was created and what his purposes were. But now Sonic, hopefully you are standing in front of this message as an adult, or at least an adolescent, so that you'll hopefully understand this situation better." Gerald sighed, rubbed his eyes, and continued, "As for you Shadow…I…hope you did not do anything too rash when you got out of Prison Island. You see, I know that being in suspended animation could possibly give someone amnesia, and I was afraid that you would not remember your promise to Maria, and would seek revenge or do anything to find out about your past. Oh, and incase you still haven't remembered, your promise to Maria was to make the people of Earth happy. Now, I'm guessing that you have already remembered."
"Heh, the Professor always did have a talent for predicting the right things." Shadow said, smiling sadly; he had to admit: he did miss his times on the ARK with the professor and Maria.
Gerald continued…
"That brings me to another reason why I created Sonic. You see, I also had wanted Sonic to find you, free you from Prison Island, and hopefully make you remember your past, all the while fighting you at the same time incase you had wanted revenge. It would be pure luck of course, but I'm guessing that you two were not exactly fighting when you two walked into my lab, so I am guessing that you, Shadow, remembers your past now and are acquaintances, if not friends, with Sonic. Shadow, I am sorry if you are still somewhat mad at me for…everything I did. Believe me, if I had been given a second chance, I would have never created you: a living, breathing being with a soul, as an experiment. However, since I had already lost…Maria, you and Sonic are the only ones that I care for now. I now wish for you two to live a normal, happy life. Of course you two will still have a 'purpose' but what your purpose is will be up to you." "That also reminds me…Sonic, while it is true that I created you from Shadow's DNA, but that does not make you a copy of Shadow. I am guessing that the first time you two met, you each though that you were copies were each other and maybe even thought of each others as 'fakes'. Sonic, you are an individual, and you're the only one that can decide who you are. That goes the same for you, Shadow. And whether you like it or not Sonic, I know how big your ego and pride can get, and I truly hope that knowing this bit of new information about yourself won't affect you too much."
"Whoa, and he came up with all these prediction all by himself?" Sonic mumbled looking at Shadow. Shadow just shrugged, and made a "shh" sound, pointing at the screen where Gerald was still taking.
"But I do have some good new for both of you. Shadow, I do not know if you remember or not, but when you were five and still lived on the ARK, there was a time when you wanted a little brother very badly." Gerald chuckled, like how a grandfather would, and Shadow's eyes went wide. Sonic only raised an eyebrow, not getting where Gerald was going with this…
"And Sonic, ever since you were able to talk, you had always complained how boring this place was, and wished to have someone to play with; a brother, perhaps? Now, some people have argued that a clone of an original creature could be considered its son or daughter…"
Sonic, who finally realized what Gerald was saying, slowly turned his head towards Shadow and looked at him fearfully. Shadow grimaced a little at the thought of Sonic being his…his…
"BUT," Gerald continued to day, a grin appearing on his face, "I personally think that you two will definitely not like that kind of relationship. So you two do NOT have to be father and son if you choose not to." Both Shadow and Sonic sighed in relief.
"However, seeing as how you two have always wanted brothers…"
That's right, CLIFFHANGER! But I assume that most of you will be able to guess what old Robtnik's going to say next. I could just make this my last chapter…but I'm not. :)
AND PLAYSTATION14 SAID: LET THERE BE LIGHT! Oops…what I meant was…LET THERE BE ONE FINAL EPILOUGE CHAPTER! (sorry if you expected more chapters, but I felt that only one more chapter was enough to finish this story. I'll try to make my final chapter fun to read!)
But, depending on how many REVEWS I get, I might either make the last chapter good and long or bad and short….so PLEASE REVIEW! EVERYBODY LIKES TO SEE REVEWS!
