Sorry for the long delay. One word: School
...ok, maybe add lazyness to that...
anyway, the final (and longest) chapter is here! The first half of this chapter just shows what happens one month later...but the second half...PLOT TWIST! Yup, a plot twist that will lead on to MY SEQUEL! Hope you guys enjoy this last chapter!
Disclaimer: Sonic and co. are not owned by moi (WHY is is always Sonic and blah blah blah? Why can't it be...Tails...or Knuckels...or Shadow...or Big...)
One Month Later…
Sonic was surrounded by millions and millions of chilidogs all overflowing what seemed like an infinite amount of space.
"COME TO DADDY!" He cried out, and dived right in the sea of everlasting chilidogs. But just as he was about to stuff his face, the chilidogs suddenly disappeared; replaced by darkness…
...and Sonic woke up. He groggily opened his eyes as he wondered what had caused him to wake up from his chilidog-filled heaven, to find two pairs of crimson eyes staring directly at him.
"AAAAAHHHHH!" Sonic yelped, jumping up from his bed. "SHADOW, DON'T EVER SCARE ME LIKE THAT!" Sonic said, holding his heaving chest. Shadow smirked, remaining silent.
"What the hell are you doing here in my house anyway?" Sonic asked angrily, looking at the alarm clock, "And at six in the morning? Can't a guy get a decent sleep?"
"Well, it's not like I WANTED to see you in your bed mumbling 'chilidogs…my chilidogs…me love you chilidogs…come to daddy…'" Shadow said, actually imitating Sonic's voice surprisingly well (hmmm...maybe Gerald was too lazy to make a new voice, so he just created Sonic with the same voice as Shadow's but higher pitched...what? The new voices of Shadow and Sonic in Sonic X and current games ARE voiced by the same actor...).
"Anyway," Shadow said, "the reason I came to bother you beauty sleep was because...well, something's wrong with the sky. I don't know what it is, and I though you might know."
"Huh?"
Sonic walking up to his window, and opened the curtains, frowning.
"…Shadow, there's nothing wrong with the sky. All I see are the clouds and snow falling." Sonic said, turning away from the window and facing Shadow, giving him a 'do you feel ok?' look.
"Snow? So the white small things are snow?" Shadow asked confusedly. Sonic's mouth dropped open.
"You mean you don't know what snow is? You've never seen snow before?" Sonic asked, trying not to laugh.
All the time he's acted like he's the wisest guy on earth, and he doesn't even know what SNOW is?
It was Shadow's face's turn to turn red now (and yes, this sentence IS grammatically correct).
"I…I still don't know a lot of things…" He mumbled, turning away embarrassedly. "I knew asking you wasn't a good idea…you're probably going to laugh at me now…"
"Wait!" Sonic said, "I never said I was gonna laugh at you! Come on Shad, you gotta give me some credit here! I'm not THAT immature!"
Shadow let out an involuntary laugh at Sonic's last statement.
"The day you become mature Sonic, is going to be the day when I start to act like you."
"Well then," Sonic said, a grin appearing on his face, "I better start finding ways to rub off you then."
Shadow ignored Sonic's last comment.
"Well? Are you going to tell me what this 'snow' is or am I going to have to ask someone else?"
Sonic's smile turned into an evil smirk.
"I'm more observant than you think, Shadow. You know that in the past month I was the only one you came to when you didn't know something. So don't give me this whole 'I'm gonna ask someone else' crap. You're too embarrassed and proud to ask anyone else besides me!" Sonic said triumphaly.
FLASHBACK
"Sonic, what's a Mcdonalds?" Shadow asked.
"What's aHarry Potter?" Shadow asked.
"What's a video game?" Shadow asked.
"Sonic, why is it that in these 'movies' and TV shows, it always shows two lovers getting into bed and making strange noises? And why does the camera always drag away when they do that?" Shadow asked, eyes full of wisdom yet ignorance.
"You know what? I'm gonna teach you how to search using the internet if it's gonna take me all day." Sonic said, putting his head in his hands and shaking his head. Shadow looked even more confused.
END FLASHBACK
However, besides embarrassing Shadow, there was another reason whySonic felt triumph. It felt good to know that Shadow trusted him to tell him about a lot of things. Ever since the ARK, when Sonic thought that Shadow had died, he felt as if part of him had died too. He wished that he could have, somehow, saved him from falling. Sure, when he discovered that Shadow survived, he acted like he didn't really care. Inside however, he was both happy and sad at the same time; happy because Shadow was back, sad because he still couldn't remember anything. Never in his life had Sonic met anyone so…complicated, and he felt that it was his duty to help Shadow. And now, not only has he helped Shadow somewhat realize that there was more to life than fulfilling someone's wished, but he had also gained a brother.
I actually have family now. Sonic thought, smiling.
"What are you smiling at?" An annoyed Shadow asked, snapping Sonic back to reality.
"Oh, I'm just smiling at how pathetic you are."Replied Sonic smoothly.
"Yea, sure. You're calling ME pathetic when you still suck your thumb when sleeping?" Shadow asked, pointing at Sonic's right hand.
"What? I don't suck my…" Sonic looked at his ungloved right hand, and noticed that his thumb was wet with saliva, "WHOA! How did this happen?"
Shadow laughed and murmured, "Idiot."
"Yea yea, whatever. And to answer your oh-so complicated question: Snow is just frozen water. It happens when the temperature outside is too cold, and instead of raining, it snows."
Shadow blinked, and another memory surfaced,
FLASHBACK
"Maria?" little Shadow asked, pointing to the book.
"What's this white thing in this picture?"
Maria giggled.
"It's snow, silly! It's really cold, and you can make snowmen and have snow-ball fights with it!"
END FLASHBACK
Shadow blinked.
"Can you…build snowmen and have snowball fights with snow?" He asked hesitantly. He hated not knowing everything and asking stupid questions.
Sonic grinned,
"Sure you can! In fact, let me call everybody and we can all play in the snow and have a big snowball fight!"
"I don't 'play'." Shadow said, crossing his arms.
"You're just afraid that I'm gonna beat you." Sonic said smugly, also crossing his arms.
"You? Beat me? Please, don't make me laugh." Shadow immediately responded, although inside he knew that he had just been tricked by Sonic.
"CHAOS SPEAR!" Shadow hollored, hitting the thick snow on the ground with green bolts of energy, causing the snow to rise up like a tsunami—and burring Sonic's whole body.
"ey! at's heating!" Sonic's muffled voice came from below the fallen snow.
"What did you say, Sonic?" Shadow asked mockingly. Sonic spin-dashed through the snow, shaking the white powder off his body. He looked at Shadow half glaring and half smirking.
"I said: Hey! That's cheating!"
"You're just jealous because you don't know how to use Chaos Spear." Shadow said emotionlessly, although he was smirking.
"Hah! I can beat you any day using my speed and ONLY my speed!" Sonic said.
"Guys," Tails flew up to Sonic and Shadow and asked wearily, "Must everything be a competition for you two?"
"Can't you go mind your own little business, kid?" Shadow asked. Sonic gave Shadow a disapproving look, and Shadow just shrugged.
"…" Tails was still somewhat nervous and scared around Shadow seeing as how he almost destroyed the world.
"Don't mind him, Tails. You know how anti-social Shadow can be." Sonic said, punching Shadow playfully in the arm.
"What, you want be to start calling Tails 'little buddy' or something?" Shadow said. Sonic's eyes widened.
"WOW! Shadow, you actually attempted to be funny! WHAT IS THIS WORLD COMING TO?" He cried dramatically. Tails snickered, and Shadow gave a 'humph'.
"Guys, are we still having a snowball fight or not?" Tails asked.
"Eh, I guess we can quit for today. Let's go back to my place for some hot cocoa!" Sonic said, and then added as an afterthought, "BUT, that doesn't mean you win this fight, Shad."
Shadow's eyes twitched,
"Never call me 'Shad' if you want to live." Shadow whispered threatenly. Sonic shrugged,
"Hey, I wouldn't mind if you called me 'Son'."
Sonic's eyes suddenly widened, realizing what he just said.
"Uhh…I didn't mean for that to be a pun…" Sonic said nervously, rubbing the back of his neck.
Shadow snickered,
"Sure you didn't…SON."
"Oh great," Tails sighed, shaking his head, "Sonic's staring to rub off Shadow now."
Sonic grinned at this, while Shadow's snicker abruptly stopped.
"No." Shadow stated simply, yet horrifically. Tails and Sonic looked at each other, and fell down on the snow rolling with laughter. Shadow crossed his arms and said,
"So are we going back to your place or not, Sonic?"
"Yea yea sure, Mr. Grumpy."
"I have a feeling that this is the start of a very bad addiction…" Sonic whispered to Tails as they stared at Shadow finishing his fifteenth cup of hot chocolate. Shadow smacked his lips and noticed Tails and Sonic staring at him like he was some kind of museum collection.
"Uhh…do you mind?" Shadow asked, becoming self-aware (AHHH get Terminator 2 out of my HEAD!).
Sonic laughed,
"I've never seen someone drinking hot chocolate like it there was no tomorrow before!" He said.
Shadow huffed,
"Well…they didn't really feed me anything that was not nutritious on the ARK…and besides," he raised an eyebrow, "is that anyway to talk to your father?"
Sonic's laughing ceased, and he sighed,
"Shadow, that joke's REALLY starting to get old now; it's not even funny anymore. Besides, we already agreed that we would be brothers a month ago."
"Yea yea, just pulling your strings." Replied Shadow nonchalantly. Tails looked at both Sonic and Shadow, then buried his face in his hands dramatically.
"This. Cannot. Be. Happening. Sonic's staring to act serious and Shadow's starting to joke around."
"Hey that's not true!" Sonic said immediately, "Shadow's just starting to enjoy life and as for me I…I…well…uh…I….well how would you feel if you were called 'son' be your BROTHER," Sonic said, glancing at Shadow and empisizing the word 'brother', "and rival?"
Before Tails could answer however, there was a flash of light, and a purple, giant portal/vortex/swirly-thingy appeared right above the three animals (omg I just called them animals. I'm so mean. Oh, and isn't the vortex the most RANDOM thing ina non-humorus story ever?). Without any warning, something fell out of the vortex, landing directly on…
"UGH, GET OFF!" Shadow growled as he pushed whatever that landed on him off…a little too hard. It flew across the room and hit the wall, making a portion of the wall crack. But what surprised Sonic, Tails, and even Shadow was that the thing didn't slide off the wall…but was stuck on it.
"…I didn't throw it THAT hard…did I?" Shadow said, as all three walked closer to see what it was. As they got closer to it, they saw that it looked like someone in a very high-tech space suit with mixed colors of yellow, blue, and red. It looked unconscious.
"Do you think it's one of Eggman's robots, Sonic?" Tails asked timidly.
"I don't think so Tails. Look, the bottom of its face is revealed; I think it's just a guy in some weird space suit." Sonic replied, trying to pull the stranger off the wall.
"What the hell?" Sonic said, as he pulled it off the wall…only to have it stuck back to it as if it was magnetically attracted, "Shad, give me a hand here."
Shadow growled at his nickname, but walked over nevertheless. Both of them pulled the stranger off the wall, only to get the same results as last time. Shadow looked at Sonic.
"I guess we'll just have to wait until he wakes up." Shadow stated simply, turing back to Tails, who was now gazing up transfixed at the rapidly disappearing wormhole.
"Uhhh…where am I?" Came the voice from the stranger, who was still lying on the wall.
"FINALLY!" Sonic said as he, Shadow, and Tails walked over to the strangely dressed person.
His voice is sorta familiar… Sonic thought.
The mysterious person slowly got up and rubbed his helmeted head, all the while standing on the wall.
"Who are you?" Shadow asked immediately. The stranger looked up (because he's standing on the wall, remember?) in surprise (well, you can't really tell if he's surprised or not since his helmet is covering his eyes), and scanned Shadow, Sonic, and Tails briefly. Instead of answering Shadow's question however, he reached for a small, round device on his back, and stared at it. He then frantically hit it with his palm as if trying to get it to work, and murmured,
"Oh shit, Tailz is gonna kill me for breaking this thing again."
"What? How do you know my name and why are you saying that I'm gonna kill you?" a confused Tails asked. Sonic and Shadow both stared at the stranger, waiting for an answer.
"Huh? Oh, no, I said Tailz not you, Tails. Oh wait, I haven't properly introduced myself, have I?" The stranger said, storing the device back. He then turned a knob on the center of his suit, and calmly walked off the wall and onto the floor.
"The name's Zonic. I-"
"ARE YOU FROM ANOTHER PARRALEL OR ALTERNATE UNIVERSE?" Tails suddenly interrupted rudely, eyes gleaming like a mad scientist.
"Uh," Zonic said nevously, backing away from Tails a little, "Yes. Yes I am. How-"
"WOW I CAN'T BELIEVE IT PARRALEL UNIVERSES ACTUALLY EXISTS!" Tails cried happily. Shadow immediately understood what Tails was talking about, but Sonic looked confused as ever, also backing away from Tails' sudden outburst.
"What does pallaral universes mean?"
"First of all," Zonic said, "it's 'parallel', it means that I come from an alternate universe. I guess you could say I come from another reality."
"So that's why your voice sounds so familiar. You're Sonic from another reality, aren't you?" Shadow asked calmly. Both Sonic and Tails' eyes widened, and they stared at Zonic, waiting for an answer.
"Very good Shadow." Zonic said a little mockingly, as he took off his helmet to reveal a face that looked 95 percentthe same as Sonic.
"WHOA!" Sonic yelped, "YOU LOOK JUST LIKE ME!"
"Thank you Mr. Obvious." Shadow said, rolling his eyes. Zonic frowned at Shadow for a moment, and asked,
"Uh, this may seem random, Shadow, but can I ask you something? Are you on Sonic's side or Robotnik's side?"
Shadow seemed taken aback, but answered nonchalantly,
"If you're talking about good or evil, I'm not evil…at least, not anymore. I'm on nobody's 'side', especially Sonic's."
Shadow and his pride… Sonic thought, smirking.
"Oh, that's good. It's just that…in some zones- oh, and by the way we'd like to call them 'zones' instead of 'universes'. Anyway, in some zones, Shadow is kinda…really evil…so yea, I just wanted to make sure this Shadow's not evil."
Zonic noticed that Shadow looked really annoyed and pissed off,
"Uh, but there's also some universes where Sonic's evil too…" he added quickly.
"Whoa whoa, hold on a minute. Just HOW many parallel zones are there?" Sonic asked.
"In theory there should be an infinite number of zones, but my job as a zone cop is to keep watch over the main ones…hey, what are you laughing at?"
Shadow and Sonic turned to where Zonic was staring, and saw Tails snickering silently to himself. Tails suddenly noticed all three people staring at him and his face turned red in embarrassment.
"Uh…sorry, it's just that…it's so funny to hear another version of Sonic say 'in theory'…I mean, it just sounds a little too…uh, smart for someone like Sonic to say; no offence, Sonic. Uh, sorry for laughing at you Zone Cop. You don't arrest people for making fun of Zone Cops, do you?" Tails asked nervously, remembering all the movies he watched where it showed some lazy and 'bad' cops arresting people for the smallest reasons. Zonic raised an eyebrow, and chuckled lightly.
"Sheesh, don't be so nervous Tails. I may be a cop, but like almost all Sonics, my best friend is another version of you. You wouldn't think I'd arrest my alternate best buddy, would you?"
Tails' face relaxed and chuckled,
"Yea, I guess not. But your personality's just so different, yet similar to this world's Sonic." Tails said, pointing a Sonic. Zonic shrugged,
"Yea, I guess I'm one of the more mature Sonics. Being a zone cop sorta does that to you. Oh, speaking of Zones…" He took out the round device that he had when he first appeared.
"This is what makes zone travel possible. The whole reason I got transported here was because of this. You see, I…hehe, sort of spilled some juice on this, and unfortunately, this thing isn't water-proof, so it randomly transported me here."
Sonic raised an eyebrow,
"You're not a very responsible cop, are you?"
"Shut up Sonic." Zonic said. "Anyway, now I'm sorta stuck here until someone from my zone notices that I'm gone and tries to find me."
"Can't you contact them?" Tails asked.
"Nope, this device also acted as a communication device, so it unfortunately malfunctioned also."
"Great," Shadow mumbled barely loud enough for the others to hear, "Now I have to deal with two Sonics."
"Don't worry Shad, I won't be as dumb as this Soni-"
Before he had time to finish his sentence though, sparks of electricity suddenly flew out of Zonic's device, making him cry out loud and drop the device, which in turn glowed a brilliantly white glow. Without any warning, the white light expanded covering Sonic, Zonic, and Shadow before any of them could react (Tails was standing further away). The light was so bright that Tails had to cover his eyes.
"Sonic? Shadow? Zonic?" Tails yelled while shielding his eyes. No response came.
After what seemed like an hour to Tails, the light abruptly disappeared…along with the three hedgehogs….
Is it, or is it not….
THE END?
DUH, of coures it isn't the end.
Ok so I'm planning to write a sequel, obviously. However, the sequel will be quite different from this story, but it IS an official sequel nevertheless. It will be MUCH longer...like...twenty chapters or something...
I really hope you guys liked this story, cause this is only my second and I've sort of stopped wirting my first story and am thinking of discontiuning it. Would you believe that I'v never written anything that wasn't part of a school assignment befor I started writing Sonic fanfics?
Also, thanks to all of you who have reviewed this crappy attempt at a story and for those of you who had not, please REVIEW!
If you're interested in the sequel, please feel free to put me on author alert.
And now, a few wise words from yours truly...I'VE ACTUALLY COMPLETED A FANFIC WITH NO FLAMES! YAY! LET'S CELEBRATE! WOOHOO! I LIKE TVs! WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!
Oh, and if you want to know more about Zonic, http/
