Jessie Arrives
Jessie Prescott was a newly graduated high school girl who wanted to become an actress. She thought the best way to begin her acting career was to move to New York City and start learning acting. She had a female cousin who was in her early 20's and had room to offer Jessie a place to stay.
Jessie had saved money during her high school years and her father, a US Army Lt Colonel stationed at Ft. Bliss in El Paso, Texas, matched her savings and gave his blessings to her goals. Jessie left El Paso and flew to New York City, where she was greeted by her cousin at the airport with the news that her cousin had just received a proposal of marriage from her boyfriend of several years and was not going to be able to offer Jesse a place to stay. But the cousin did have a friend who knew that there was a need for a Nanny with the Ross family, and she had arranged for Jessie to have an interview with Christina Ross that afternoon.
Jessie did not have a choice, she had to find a job and a place to stay. She took her luggage and went to the address her cousin had given her, and she was surprised to find the address was a very expensive apartment building, with a uniformed lobby attendant who directed her to the elevator to the Ross apartment where she was greeted by a very well-dressed young woman, Christina Ross. During the interview, Jesse learned that Christina had her own fashion clothing business and her husband, Morgan, was a movie producer. They had one children, Emma, a young teenager. They also had three adopted children, Luke, from a city in the midwest USA, Ravi a young boy from Mumbai, the capital city of the state of Maharashtra, India, and Zuri, a young girl from South Africa.
Jessie also learned that the children had several previous Nannies who never lasted more than two weeks. The reason for that was the children rarely saw their parents who were world-traveling businesspeople, and they were supervised only by Bertram, the only adult in the household, who provided the cooking and cleaning services, without much care for the emotional needs of the children, and the Nanny, who was respected by the children.
During the interview, Jessie was surprised that Christina had a complete background check report about Jessie. It was obvious from Christina's questions that she knew all about Jessie's life. Then her questions became more personal regarding Jessie's emotional health. What Jessie wanted to achieve in her life, what motivated Jessie, and what felt about sexuality. Jessie was overwhelmed with the very rich surroundings in which she found herself, the realization that the Ross family was very wealthy, and that Christina was very attractive. During the interview, Christina was touching Jessie's arm and hands in a friendly way that seemed to be almost flirting.
When Christina moved over to sit next to Jessie, and looked directly into Jessie's eyes, while she spoke of the children's need to be emotionally supported, while still being disciplined when they misbehaved. Christina's soft voice calmed Jessie's concerns about what Christina seemed to be doing. And she was not really surprised when Christina took her chin and kissed her. Jessie's mind tried to determine what was happening, and her mind decided to feel it was just a play in which she was an actress and playing a part. But she njoyed the kiss. In high school, Jessie was a Cheerleader and she and the other Cheerleaders often kissed and played naked games at sleepovers. But Jessie also dated some of the sports team boys and enjoyed them too.
Finally, the interview ended with one last kiss, and Jessie was informed that she was the new Nanny, with the responsibility of being very attentive to the children's emotional needs as well as guiding them to learn to become less entitled-thinking and to be more family-oriented. Jessie wasn't sure what all of that meant but being offered one-thousand dollars a week salary and a place to stay was more than she could refuse.
Christina summoned Bertram and the children and introduced Jessie to them as the new Nanny. Bertram just smirked and returned to the kitchen, while the children stared at Jessie, each trying to decide how long she would last. When Christina left them in the living room, the children immediately started to ignore Jessie, while Luke did something that caused Emma to become angry at him and everyone seemed to scream at the same time and disappear up the stairs to their rooms.
Jessie just stood there, until Bertram returned and told her how to get to her own room, and that dinner would be served at 5 pm. He did not offer or attempt to show her where her room was. He just returned to the kitchen. And Jessie took her luggage and tried to find her room.
