A/N: this was for the prompt 'watch' and is for the 5 drabbles comp. its also for the 'more than a name' challenge for charlie weasley.
Charlie looked down at the watch his fianceé had bought him for his birthday and almost cried.
"It's lovely, Lavender. Thank you," he said, voice thick with emotion.
"I know you loved your old one, and I tried to get it fixed but the jeweller said he couldn't do it. I saw that one on my way out and thought you would like it," she said softly.
She had been right on both accounts. The watch he had been given at seventeen by his parents, had once belonged to his grandfather, Ignatious Prewett, and he had loved it because of that. This new one, however, was perfect for him. It had a dragonhide strap made from an Antipodean Opaleye dragon, and the colours of the face were made to match it. The craftsmanship was amazing and he couldn't believe it was his.
"Thank you so much, love. I-I can't believe you found this for me. It's perfect," Charlie said, drawing his gaze to her face.
"I asked the jeweller where the hide came from, to make sure it came from a reputable supplier. He said that it had come from one which had died recently at your old reserve and showed me the paperwork for it. I also contacted Stefan and he told me it was legit," Lavender informed him.
He was so grateful that she had gone to all that trouble to verify the source of the hide. She knew that he was passionate about dragons being treated fairly and not hunted or used for ingredients whilst still alive.
"I love it, and will wear it always," he said, closing the gap between them and kissing her gently on the lips.
