Note: This story takes place in a universe where instead of dying Wally was sent to the future. He ends of joining the legion of superhero's and had serious memory loss. Also the mirror that is mentioned is heavily inspired by the Mirror of Erised from Harry Potter.

The redhead wandered down the steps of the hollow chamber. Dim lit embers cast red light on the empty crumbling walls. The floors were covered in centuries old dust that flaked into the air. Old relics scattered to and fro, and along with them history's mysteries untold.
Wally navigated the room slowly, intrigued by such a place. He knew coming here was probably forbidden, but for once he was alone. Left to an overdue solitude. He tired of being watched and distrusted, sought after like a rare fossil. He was tired of telling everyone the same story, of trying so desperately to remember.
Was he someone important?
Did he have a job?
Was he loved?
Wally traced the edges of an old silver lined music box, he wondered who's it had been.
Perhaps royalty, or perhaps a lonely farmer.
Wally turned away, eyes wondering from object to object. But out of all the forbidden treasures, it was a dusty blanket that caught his eye. The worn blanket was draped over a tall object in the corner of the room.
Wally made his over, wonder filling his heart like a child on Christmas morning.
He reached towards the fabric numbly. When he touched It, it felt soft and caressed against his fingers.
Wally curled his fingers around it and pulled.
The old blanket fell away like a snowflake on the ground. Dust rose into the air, and all the redhead could make out was the lining of a mirror.
The dust dissipated and Wally was left there, staring at himself in the mirror. It was cracked and weathered on the edges, faint smudges covering areas.
But the mirror itself was elegant, tall, and beautiful for a fossil.
Wally squinted when his image seemed to waver. A faint laugh echoed his mind as the two more people appeared in the mirror. One, a beautiful woman with blond hair and dark brown eyes, who was leaning into him and resting her head on his shoulder. And two, a little boy with almost the same complexion as himself wrapped around his legs and them snow fell, blending into the cold winter night.
The redhead turned back to an empty room. Baffled in wonder, he turned back, eyes resting on the woman.
He could have sworn he could hear her laughing just as much as he could feel her touch.
He breathed quietly, tilting his head just slightly. Who… who were these people? Were they his family?
He had never longed for something more than at that moment.
"Please, do not get too comfortable."
Wally startled at the voice and turned around to see Querl standing a few feet away, holding a box of parts.
"What you see is not real." the android continued, eyes glancing ever so slightly at the mirror.
Wally looked back at it for a second, "But who are those people?"
The android looked at him, "I cannot know, only you can see what the mirror reflects of you."
Wally's eyes rested on the mirror, the people there were still laughing silently. A sadness filled his empty heart. "But... I don't understand."
Querl sighed and set down the box, "The mirror shows one's greatest desires. You mustn't linger in what is not real, for many have lost their minds doing so."
He walked over and picked up the discarded blanket from the floor. Wally watched him in denial, eyes straining on the picture of the perfect little family.
He wanted to know, he wanted to remember.
The android slowly pulled the blanket over the mirror, casting a barrier between Wally and his desires. The redhead looked down, sadness overtaking him.
What he'd give to know.
He swallowed and looked up at the android, who was watching him curiously. A question came to his mind, "What did you see?"
Querl's expression stayed the same, "Lies."
Wally's heart sunk further. What he saw was probably a lie as well, after all he wanted nothing more than to know who he was. Maybe that's what the mirror was trying to give him, an identity.
"Come now," The android spoke softly, breaking him from his thoughts, "You should be in bed."
Wally did as he was told, following Querl up the steps and far away from the mirror. From the chamber that held his greatest desire.
For the first time he realized he may never know who he was.
His life might have just been a lie.
