"Good work guys!" Finn exclaims while having a light pant, monster blood and sweat covering him while he stares at his two companions: a stoic Huntress Wizard who was only smiling ever so slightly at him, and a wheezing Bronwyn. All around them the once peaceful woods clearing is now covered in the dead corpses of twisted beasts, with black blood that is slowly spreading and staining the ground, releasing a bitter smell.

The wood nymph strides up to the kid and pats her on the back, "You'll get the hang of it eventually, though I would suggest laying off the bacon pancakes a little more."

The bent-over air-grasping Bronwyn stares up at her with a fire behind her eyes, "Forget that! That's the only cool thing about grandpa." Huntress Wizard shakes her head with a smirk.

Finn struts up to them, "Hey, Hun. How long do you think it will take for this to be cleared up?"

With a flick of her finger, the green woman summons back her arrow from a monster corpse, the weapon shooting through the air and stopping inches from her face. She grabs it with her hand and stares at the thick blood that is covering the arrowhead, "... It should be fine. Scavengers and other carnivores will deal with this for us."

Finn perks up, "Oh neat! Well then," He looks down at her clothes, painted with violence just as he is, "We should probably find a river to wash or someth-"

Grumble.

"... or perhaps we should find something to eat first." He remarks with a blush.

Bronwyn, now nearly fully recovered, nods, "Yeah, I'm starving as well. Open up your bag!"

Huntress rolls her eyes as Finn whips his bag off his back, "Alright fine, a quick snack break." She steps up to him and quietly asks with subtle excitement, "Got any of my meats?"

Finn laughs, "Hold on you two, let me just-" He yanks the zip open on his bag as the group peer inside.

To find a squirrel.

It curiously chirps at them, before leaping at Finn's face with a savage hiss. He gives a yell as it runs atop his head, tugging down his bear hat to cover his eyes before it leaps over his back and sprints into the forest trees. The hero yanks his iconic clothing piece back into place as he peers back inside his bag frantically.

The food packs were all torn open. Bronwyn daintily reaches inside and pulls out a clear bag, a massive gaping hole torn in the bottom while a few crumbs tumble free. She stares for a moment longer, before yelling with her first word sounding like a yelp, "That little- gah!"

Huntress Wizard's face twists in annoyance, "I'm the protector of this forest, I have an oath to not hunt unnecessarily." She glances up at it in the trees, finding the little creature amidst the swaying branches. It blows a raspberry at her. Her eyebrows lower pointedly, "But that little rodent is pushing the limits of my oath."

The hero of OOO sighs, "Shoot. I guess we've got to go back to the RV now, we should have more supplies there." He zips his bag up and puts it back on, "It should only be a couple…" His voice lowers in spirit, becoming as dead as the creatures around them, "... hours away."

Bronwyn groans in frustration as her canine claws pull at her face, though the wood nymph among them shakes her head, "Forget that, Finn. I'm worried her rainicorn genes will kick in and you'll look tasty by then. I'll go hunt something for us real quick."

Brownywn perks up, "You will? Great! We'll come with."

The wood nymph nods before with a burst of speed she silently shoots into the sea of trees, with her much noiser teammates quick to follow.

The hunt only took five minutes. The poor deer stood no chance, its tracks were too obvious and it was too far in the open to not be found by the mightiest huntress of the woods. With a swift arrow to the midsection just behind its front legs, it fell to the ground, and the others were upon it in an instant.

They now stood around the dead creature as Finn sighs, "Well I'll get started on the fire to cook it. I'll let you two get to cutting." It was always his job to do it. Bronwyn had no idea how to do so, and Huntress for some reason doesn't like open flames near her.

The human starts collecting a bunch of sticks by the armful, making a small pile in a shallow ditch while clearing away other flammable materials away from it. When he hears a series of squelch, more than there would be when cutting up meat. He glances over his shoulder to discover Huntress lifting a piece of raw meat to her mouth and eating it. His eyes widen, "Whoa! Hey, Hun! We need to cook that first!"

The wood nymph chews while speaking muffled, "Mmph, not really Finn." She swallows and continues, "I can eat this just fine, and you know from our dates that I prefer my meat rare. Only humans need to really cook their food." She remarks with an almost smug hint to her tone, popping another small chunk inside her mouth.

The hero stands up from the small smouldering pile he has going, "What do you mean? There's a whole bunch of germs and other badonks in raw-" He glances to his right at Bronwyn as he discovers she too was lifting a piece into her mouth, "Bronwyn, don't-!" Too late she starts promptly eating it raw.

Huntress gives a cheer, "Hey, there we go! Here, let me show you the best bits!" She swiftly moves to the excited teen's side and rests her hands atop hers, guiding it to the best parts.

Finn exclaims, "Don't encourage her, hun!"

The wood nymph laughs, "Have you never seen wild wolves, Finn? Dogs can eat meat raw too, she'll be fine."

Bronwyn bites back as she uses her claws to start an incision, "Hey! Don't call me a dog!"

Finn's face scrunches in thought, "I mean, that makes sense, but how are you fine?"

She calmly explains to the hero, "I'm part plant, remember? We usually take the nutrients from decaying animals too, those germs you're worried about won't affect me. Plus magic." She gains a frown and sadly remarks, "Though I guess you only need to cook for yourself now… I wonder if your 'kiss the cook' apron is still viable?"

Finn throws his arms towards her, "Fine, maybe it isn't a health issue, but what about manners! It's kinda weird seeing you eat meat raw 'n' stuff, let alone being a pain to clean up."

Bronwyn remarks while taking another little nibble, "How's it any different from eating it cooked? And if you're worried about us getting messy," she gestures to herself, "I'm still covered in monster parts. A little more blood won't be a problem... can we have some plates though?"

Finn sighs, unable to offer any more counterpoints, and just logs it as a weird thing in the weird land of OOO. Turning around to raid his bag, he hands the two some empty tubs instead and warns them, "You better leave me a piece." Before attending to the now going fire from earlier and letting the heat wash over him and banish the slight chill in the air.

The girls promptly hand the human a fat slab of meat, and a few moments later he is watching it sizzle from the fire, its colour quickly changing from red to white. Luckily, it was still thin enough that it didn't take too long, and by the time he was plopping it onto an empty food bag and breathing in that pleasant scent of freshly cooked food, the other two join him. Huntress sat to his left and Bronwyn to his right, the duo holding neatly cut slices of raw meat in their tubs as they too bathe in the fire's heat.

He glances at them as they enjoy their meals... it was a tad strange, but even if it was a little bit weird, they were still his family. He could take weird for them. Shrugging, he happily tucked in with them as they all ate together. Though he off handly remarks, "By the way, you two are cleaning those tubs."

"Aw come on!"

"There's nothing wrong with the natural scent and signs of a successful hunt, Finn!"

"You get to keep the heart-"

"Deal."
