A/N: This is the last drabble for the Severus/Emmeline 5 drabbles challenge. The prompt was 'bite the bullet'.
Emmeline wrung her hands together nervously. She knew that she just had to bite the bullet and get it over with, or she never would.
Her relationship with Severus had been on tenterhooks for a few months because of the things he was involved in with his friends, but what he said to Lily had been the last straw.
Although the incident was technically none of her business - that was between Severus and Lily - Emmeline could not stand the thought of being with someone who believed they were above others.
This had been the one thing which had held her back the most when he had asked her out. She had seen him hanging around with a number of students she knew would most likely become Death Eaters. It was only at Lily's insistence that she gave him a chance that she gave in.
"He's nicer than he seems, Em. Just get to know him a little and you will see what I mean," Lily said, encouragingly.
The past few days, however, she had been consoling her friend over their lost friendship. Even though Lily had never asked, or said that she should break up with him, she knew her friend was thinking it.
"Hello Emmeline," Severus said, as he approached their little nook.
When he went to kiss her cheek, she turned away, closed her eyes, and said, "We need to talk."
