2. Update!

I wanted to update everyone who is following or waiting for an update to this story.

First off, I just want to say that I uploaded this to see what kind of response I would get. I had no intentions to actually work on it when I uploaded it since I was still working on A Shadow Has Returned. I know I mentioned it multiple times that I would start working on this story and update it after I had finish A Shadow Has Returned, and that was truly my intent. Unfortunately life got in the way with a new job and I had to put this idea on the back burner.

But fear not! I have slowly been working on a few chapters in a few different places in the story. I have an idea on how I want the first 3-5 chapters to go, including an updated prologue, and I already have the ideas written out, I just have to put the words behind the story.

I also wanted to mention that I will be changing my writing style from First Person POV that I used in A Shadow Has Returned to a Third Person POV like in most stories. This is going to be a whole new writing style for me, so I am still trying to adjust on how to write sentences in Third Person. I feel like this type of writing will allow me to bounce between characters in a scene instead of writing it from one perspective throughout the whole chapter. I am hoping that this will improve my writing and flow of stories from here on and into the future.

I also wanted to touch on the fact that "A Brighter Future" was just a placeholder that took me no time to think up when I wrote this idea down. I think the name might have indicated the direction that this story will take without even trying to. Of course, I want this story to start out as an Arranged Marriage AU between Hiccup and Astrid (of course), which eventually turns into a Runaway Story with Hiccup and a 'Pursuit' Story (if that makes sense?) with Astrid. The main start of the story is that the contract between Hiccstrid happens before Astrid finds out about Toothless. This eventually leads into Hiccup leaving Berk and Astrid following behind him. The way I want this story to go might be a bit confusing at first, and I still have to figure out on how I am going to work around Astrid actually following (and how fast she catches up?) before I continue uploading. What I don't think I want this story to turn into is Hiccstrid leaving Berk and creating their own tribe of Dragon Riders, but I haven't really decided on what will happen after they run away. I like the stories where Hiccup creates his own tribe, but I just don't feel like that would be what Astrid wants to do, since she is pledged to be a shieldmaiden of Berk way before the contract happens.

In terms of the name of the story, I don't think I will be using "A Brighter Future." What does this mean? It means that when I do plan on updating this story to FF, I will be creating a new story under a different name and different description while expanding more on the prologue of this story. Of course, for everyone who is following this story, I will update here when the new story goes live and will wait a week or two before deleting this one.
