Summary:

Capture the flag can be a fun game between friends, it can also be torture when you have to face other opponents who are gunning for your top spot. At least the big 3 have our little greenette's back.

Beginning Notes:

And update! Izuku and his friends face their greatest threat yet... The U.A. Sports Festival.

Thanks for the continued support everyone, I've been a bit busy with getting everything ready for the my college transfer so sorry about not updating this. :P

"Listen Pilot, there are things you must understand about your quirk before we progress." Came the voice of Izuku's omniscient A.I. with a more serious tone than he'd heard before, what could BT possibly be referring too?

"You cannot, foresee every possible situation or event and you must understand that being prepared not only to combat with me but without me is a necessity. Your physical body must be at its absolute peak along with your mental state. We form a bond with one another, and through that bond we are able operate much faster than normal men or machines. -

And, so due to your lack of muscle mass or fighting capabilities I suggest that you begin training. More so, I suggest that you ask your parental figure to enroll you in some form of Dojo, combat ability and fighting style is a great asset to you. Please heed these words Pilot, you must strengthen not only your mind but your body as well." Izuku mentally agreed with his counterpart, he truly did need the practice and proficiency of those much older than him. He may have a quirk that can do great things, but if all he is, is his quirk. What good was he?

A few days later the boy had gone to his adoptive father and asked Nedzu to enroll him into a dojo of some sort. And, the vermin happily agreed, understanding that Izuku should have some basic if not higher-level skills in combat could be helpful considering the boy was less than gifted in his physical strength.

Time would pass as it always did, a blink of an eye and days turned into months. When Izuku wasn't training with his sensei, he was training at one of Yuuei's smaller gym facilities that Nedzu had allowed the child to use during his time off from school.

As of course, even some of the staff had occasionally helped the boy, not often nor frequently enough for most of them to care about him but enough that they knew his name and face. Ms. Midnight and Sensei Present Mic both knew the boy well and stopped by on occasion.

Izuku had only ever met Mr. Aizawa once, when Present Mic had dragged the poor man to the training room to talk and spar. And Izuku never wanted to see him again. He was a little scary if you ask the greenette.

"Forty-two of you made it through to the next round. And now onto the selection for this year." The wheel on the large projection screen began to spin as Midnight smirked up. "And, the next event is Capture The Flag!" Yelled the 18+ heroine.

"Capture the flag?" Most seemed to ask, unsure of how exactly that would work, was there a point system or?

"Participants will, on their own, form teams of two to four members each. The rules are fundamentally the same as those of an ordinary capture the flag battle- snag your opponent's flag white guarding your own. However, there is a twist. Each of you has been assigned a point value based on your ranking in the last event." The group before the Midnight all nodded in understanding, it seemed simple enough.

"Anyways, your individual point values start at five, at the bottom. So, the student who took 42nd place is worth five points, 41st is worth 10 points. Get it? But… Our first-place participants are worth five hundred thousand points each!" And all eyes immediately landed on Izuku and Hado, they were doomed.

"The Higher-ranked students are the ones to aim for. This survival game is a chance for a comeback. It's anyone's game!" Yelled the announcer one more time as the crowded stadium once again cheered for the show. Most murmured amongst themselves in the stands, wondering if the 1st and 2nd place students would work together or against one another. It seems that they would dislike each other due to the battle they'd had just beforehand.

"The match will last 15 minutes. Each team's points are determined by its members. Your flag will display your point value, and whichever team has the most flags/points at the end will win!" Cheers still followed as the students split off to form groups.

Izuku shook with fear, this was not what he wanted. Who would want to team with him, he hadn't even used his quirk in the first match and everyone else wouldn't think that he'd be of use. He was a walking target.

As teams were formed, Izuku began to make observations. He didn't think anyone would want to team with him, and those who did he truly felt sorry for. "Right. Everyone's sticking to their own classmates. I've got to figure something out but who would want to-" The boy was cut off mid-sentence.

"Izuzu! Team up with me!" Yelled the overly bubbly girl, tears well in the boy's eyes as he turned to see one of his closest friends standing before him. Her hands quickly going up to protect herself from the ensuing waterworks.

"Yo-you mean it? Everyone's gonna come after me for the 500,000 points and-" Hado let go a small laugh and shook her head. "Oh, come on silly, we tied and I'd rather work with my friends then someone I didn't know or trust." Izuku nodded, that seemed more than reasonable.

"Hey, can we join you as well?" Asked Togata, with Amajiki standing right beside him, a small smile placed on his face. Izuku nodded but was surprised to see that Amajiki had made it to the second round. Wasn't he still at the starting line?

"How'd Amajiki manage to make it into the second round?" Izuku asked, earning a small chuckle from Hado. "Well, Mirio went back for him… He did the same thing last year." Togata smiled slightly and let go of his own chuckle.

"Yea, I went back for him and carried him piggyback all the way here." Then all four let go their own laughs, of course Mirio would go back for their friend, the poor kitten was so deathly afraid of crowds.

"Alright so, we need to form a plan. What is likely best for us to do is to stay by our flag at all times. If we can just hold it then we'll win." The group nodded; they had all the points they'd likely need to win already.

"And if our flag gets taken, then we'll split up into teams. Me and Hado, and you, and Amajiki." The blonde nodded and so they all were set to start the second phase of the sports festival.

As the groups were beginning to form, Power Loader sensei walked over to Midoriya and held a small smile towards the boy. "I've brought some of the things you've requested. It's not everything but you'll get the rest if you advance." Izuku nodded, he noticed his pistol hadn't been included and the two knives he'd forged were also missing. A bummer but what could he do?

What Izuku did have were a few of the more important things that he'd made. Most importantly his smoke grenades and his beacons had been approved. Which meant if things got really dicey, he could call for help. Would it be wise to call for help at a time like this? No, not really, B.T. was his ace in the hole.

If he was captured or hurt by a villain, he could call upon his mech to save his skin. But if it meant he could transfer into the heroics course. Maybe, just maybe it was worth calling upon his metal friend.

"What are those Midory?" Hado asked, pointing to the beacons that he was strapping into his utility belt. (Thankfully that had been glanced over without need for approval.) Izuku smirked, they weren't something that he should talk about but a part of him felt she deserved to know. "If things get really bad out there, then I'll use this for a little assistance." She nodded, still rather unsure of what that could even mean.

"Alright let's get this thing started! Let the Capture the Flag Game BEGIN!" Yelled Present Mic from the booth above. Eraser Head just let out a flabbergasted sigh, it was too early for Mic's loudness even if the man was used to it.

And with the announcement of the start, all sides seemed to rush towards the group of four. Students from every class ran towards Izuku and his team. "This is really just a battle for the 1 million and everyone knows it!" Cried one team leader while others cackled calling out to the team. "We're coming for that 1 million Hado!"

"We've got two inbound, Amajiki can you get them with your tentacles?" Asked Izuku as the two group of four rushed towards the friend group. The large tentacle like arms reached out and slapped one group across the arena while the others dogged above.

"That's not quite enough Midoriya!" Yelled the group as they lunged for the flag. "Not so fast, you've got to get through me first." Yelled Mirio as his head popped out of the ground snagging one contestants foot brings two other students stumbling to the ground on top of the first student he'd snagged.

Only one student remained standing from the first wave and Hado quickly rushed to counter them. Her twirling light sped towards the girl. However, the beams bounced off as a shield of blue and yellow formed. "Ha, you thought that would work Hado? You should know better than that!" She yelled, and then as she finished laughing Amajiki's tentacle like hand slammed into her backside sending her to ground as well.

As the two teams who'd been knocked to the ground once again got up to fight, more teams seemed to form, around the 1 million points team. A few teams were still trying to snag other people's flags. But the brunt of the students were attacking Izuku's group, trying to win with one concise move.

"We can't hold them all off like this!" Yelled Izuku as he landed a punch against the stomach of one of 2-B's students. Hado and Amajiki were dealing with another team, trying to stop them from reaching the flag and Mirio was taking on two teams at once.

They all were being pushed closer to their flag, losing ground as they fought valiantly against the group. "Come on, you guys can attack each other you know!" Hado complained as her twirling light once again sped off towards another group of students who weren't as lucky as Fuwa had been.

They continued like this for some time, fighting tooth and nail to keep the groups away from them but every time they'd win against one. Another would come at them, trying and winning ground. They were only a few feet from their flag, and they couldn't stop the onslaught of teams.

"Guys, we need to think of something fast. Izuku, can you use that thing you were talking about earlier?" Called Hado as she nearly dropped to the ground, she'd used too much energy on the last group and was running low on everything. "I can't go on for much longer!"

"I-I, Are you sure we can't win this?" He asked, he couldn't use it, it wasn't time, wasn't right to use it now. It felt so, so wrong to use BT here against his peers. "You have too. I don't know what else we can do!"

Izuku thought hard about it, BT was not meant to be used for these types of situations. But if it meant he could get into the hero course then he would use him. But this felt so, so wrong.

"Alright, I've got one last trick up my sleeves guys. Hado, when I say go take the flag and run!" He yelled for all of the contestants to hear. Perfect. Nejire knew that look, the look of pure evil on Izuku's face. It truly scared her, but she knew he had a plan. Knew he'd yelled it aloud for some reason and knew that Izuku always had her back.

Grabbing the pin, he pulled with all his might and threw the round object down onto the ground in front of him. "BT are you ready?" He asked, soon he gained a response.

"As ready as one can be sir." Izuku smiled on the inside, he knew what he was about to do was borderline crazy but, he hopped that he could scare the other teams away. As Izuku starred down the team in front of him who'd looked towards the round object they all raised an eyebrow. "IS THAT A GRENADE!?"

"Oh, my folks! Izuku Midoriya has thrown what appears to be some sort of support item. Do you have any idea what it is Eraser?" The man beside him shrugged, still to early to be commentating on such unimportant events.

"I still think they're wasting all their energy." Commented the pro, sighing as he did so, God these children were so unprepared. But maybe, just maybe Nedzu's boy would be a good fit for his 1-A class next year.

The battle continued as the crowded cheered for the teams, it was truly shaping up to be a round to remembered. And as Izuku smirked at the team in front of him smoke began to flow from the grenade, fizzling loudly as more smoke poured from the object.

"Where'd they go!" Yelled one of the teams, another soon followed. "I think that's them over there!" Pointing off in a random direction, one could see a team of four trying to move through the smoke.

Multiple teams jumped on the group, drying to subdue them so they could be the ones to get the 1 million points. As the students did this, our group of four split off, each going their own separate ways. Hiding amongst the smoke. Izuku managed to wonder over to another team and take their flag without being noticed.

"Hey, there's Midoriya, he's got their flag!" Yelled one group as the smog began to clear. Izuku's green eyes deepened as he tried to dash off to another part of the stadium. "Not so fast!" Yelled Fawa's group as she and her three teammates leapt towards the boy.

Izuku was slammed against the hard dirt floor of the arena as he and the group of four resulted for the flag. "No, I won't let you take it!" He yelled, trying to convey as much worry as possible. He was a great actor in times of stress.

"It is nearly time folks. Only thirty seconds left!" The crowd began to countdown as the group battle against each other. "Hey, the 1 million points are gone! Who had them!" Yelled a 2-B group.

"Midoriya has it!" Another group yelled turning to try and catch the green-eyed boy. "No, he doesn't! You fools, that's a different teams flag!" Yelled yet another group who'd managed to focus on other foe's for once. They'd amassed 3 different flags and were likely the second-place victors.

"Then where's the million-point flag!" Yelled several groups as one, they'd been cheated!

"And, with only five seconds to go folks it seems the 1-million-point flag has been misplaced. WHERE COULD IT HAVE GONE!" Yelled Present Mic from the stadium's broadcasting room. Fan's roared as they two did not know where the flag had gone.

"Are you looking for this!" Yelled Hado as she floated back down to the ground, having been missing from the fight since the smoke had cleared. She placed the flag back into its proper place as Mic counted down at the last second.

"I can't believe it folks, Hado Nejire, has once again reclaimed the 1 million points flag! That means team Hado and Midoriya are the first-place team! Followed by team Hirano, team Fawa, and team Kenranzaki! Can you believe it folks, that was a sight to behold. We'll be back right after the one-hour long lunch break. We'll see you folks for the afternoon portion in just a short while!" Present Mic called to the fans as they cheered for the show they'd just been given. It was unbelievable!

And with that, the second round was finished, onto the third and final round.

Authors Notes:

Well, that's 2/3's of the first sports festival done! Glad to be back in the saddle and writing this again. We've got a fair ways to go until we get to Izuku's transfer into 1-A but I hope to get us there by the time I go back to school in two or three weeks. I've been writing a lot more as of recently. (Most I've written since 2019.) And, that fact still kind of amazes me.

Most of my fics can be found under the username Large_H or EagleEyedOne on A03.

Ryuujin96 - So this isn't explained, but will be in future times. Likely when Izuku is transfer into 1-A. But, Vlad, for the purposes of this fic, did not have a class. At least from my own understanding, and most people's own fics, I've found that the general consensus is that the previous crop of first years were terrible compared to usual standards. Since that is the case. Only Eraser Head had a class, but is also often blamed for the expulsion of several classes in this version of MHA

Guest - Just read my responce to Ryuujin96. :P

aliestrikehero - Yea, it needs some editing and polish. I'm dyslexic and often in a rush to write. Sorry about that, hopefully I'll find some time to reread this in the coming months. Also, yes, OP pistol is here and it'll be important at some point.

NazgulBelserion - He get's dumber before he gets better.
