A/N: I know it's been a while since I updated this story. But Honestly I had forgotten about it and had no idea where to go as the story itself was almost over. But now I know where I'm going and I hope you'll all like it. The Story mention's Albinism. Personally I'm not Albino nor do I know anyone who is. I'm only writing what I looked up. If I offend anyone because of it, PLEASE PM me instead of writing in the reviews so we can talk. Thank you. Enjoy the Chapter. I own nothing but my OC.
VI: Confessions Towards Ramandu's Island
I felt the sun on my face and slowly sat up. Blinking, I looked to see Caspian's arm slip down my waist. I smiled at his sleeping face and looked around at the others. I watched Gael awaken as she yawned sitting up and looked around. "Good Morning, Gael."
She looked over and smiled. "Good Morning Miss Anna." She yawned again and looked over the ocean. She gasped and I looked to see what she was looking at and my jaw dropped before I shook Caspian. "Caspian! The Blue Star!"
Lucy had been woken by Gael and I watched her follow the younger girls' line of sight and smiled at what she saw.
"The Blue Star!' She exclaimed happily. 'Everybody! Everybody, wake up!' Caspian sat up as I shook him again and Edmund quickly sat up, expecting the worst, as did Reepicheep and Rhince. 'It's the Blue Star!"
I scrambled up to my feet, went over to Eustace and gently scratched behind his ears. "Eustace, wake up." He groaned in the 'five-more-minutes' way.
Reepicheep noticed Eustace wasn't waking and smacked the side of his face.
"Come on, old boy,' He said, not seeing Eustace's unhappy face from being awoken with a slap, 'Wake up." Eustace sat up, stretched and yawned like a cat. Smacking his lips in the sleepy way, he lifted his head to see what the hubbub was about only for his jaw to drop at the sight of the Blue Star shining in the early morning sky.
Later, with Eustace flying beside the ship, Reepicheep on his back, I stood in the mouth of the dragon head and looked at the Blue Star. The Star winked at me and I smiled. Hearing a splash in the water below, I looked to see a mermaid trying to get my attention. Now that she had it, she kept mouthing 'Don't go! Not that way!'
I gulped and backed away before heading down to the map room. Inside I found Caspian and Drinian placing Dragon Island on the map as well as marking all the new islands we had come across. "Um...' the two looked up at me. 'I can come back later..."
"No need Ma'am. I was just leaving.' Drinian said before inclining his head to Caspian and whispering to him. 'We'll talk later, your majesty."
He walked past me and out the door. I turned back to Caspian. "The Mermaids that have been following us since the Lone Islands aren't going any further. It looked like they were trying to tell us not to head this way."
Caspian looked up at me. "We are heading into danger. The closer we get to Ramandu's Island, the closer we also get to Dark Island."
I nodded my head. "That also means we're close to finishing this journey..."
"Yes…" Caspian mumbled in agreement, not really paying attention to my words. I frowned when I heard Caspian's voice and walked over. I grabbed his hand and dragged him to the window seat, sat him down, placed both hands on his face and looked him in the eye. "What's wrong?"
"Nothing." He tried turning away from me.
"Alright.' I stepped back for a minute before bending down, so we were face to face. 'Now, be honest.' When he didn't reply I sighed and asked, 'Caspian, should we make an oath not to lie to one another?"
He sighed. "It's just...' Caspian began, turning to me, 'This journey is coming to an end. Do you really think you'll be able to stay once it's over?"
I frowned. "I know what Aslan told me. I'm most certain that I won't be leaving. Even if I was, I would beg Aslan to allow me to come back just to see you."
He sighed again, stood up and began to pace. "But what if you aren't able to come back? Peter and Susan were not much older than you when they were told they couldn't return. And Edmund has said that time flows differently in the worlds.' He ran his fingers through his hair. 'I… I don't know if I can—"
"Caspian.' I placed a hand on his shoulder, stopping him. 'If I don't come back... then we'll just have to go on with our lives and meet each other in Aslan's Country. That's all we can do if, and mind you it's a BIG IF, I return to my old home. I live my life there and you return to Narnia and your people as King Caspian the Seafarer. The Man who Conquered the Great Darkness. Ruling Narnia into a new Golden Age with a Queen by your side."
"You think it'll be that easy? To move on from you?' he snapped at me, I flinched and backed away. He sucked in a breath seeing my flinch before sighing. 'I'm sorry. I didn't mean for it to come out like that."
I shook my head. "No, it's fine. I get it. Letting go is never easy. It's always going to be an uphill battle... Especially when it comes to love. Even more so with me because you…" I blushed deeply and trailed off.
"I am what?" Caspian asked, curious now.
"You're... Caspian, you have no idea what it was like before the two most important men in my life were killed."
I felt the corner of my mouth twitch as I crossed my arms and looked away. 'I have a... most would call it a disease or a punishment for something my ancestors did. Albinism. It's certainly not contagious or anything like that. It affects my hair and skin color. Until Dad paid for a surgery that allowed me new eyes, they were a dark pink, almost red." I looked back at him.
I felt my mouth twitch again as I turned my back to Caspian. 'I was severely bullied. A schoolyard fight ended with me being pushed out a window, luckily on the ground floor, and having my eyes replaced in the first place. Even after I got my new eyes, I was no longer called a demon, but a fallen angel. For years, my school life was tormented by others my age and some older. My brother did his best to protect me, he really did, but there was only so much one could do without getting into trouble.'
I turned back to him and looked him in the eye. 'You're the first man my age or closer in my life who hasn't bullied me, verbally or otherwise. The first man since my father and brother to call me beautiful and meaning it. And the first man I've ever loved..." I mumbled quietly. I kept my head down but looked up when my cheek was kissed. Before I could say anything, he kissed me again.
"You're adorable. You know that?" I blushed again before kissing his lips softly.
Suddenly I heard commotion clamoring on deck. We both rushed up and stopped when we realized one important thing: the ship had come to a standstill.
No wind was blowing.
The waves weren't moving.
We were stuck.
Soon, Drinian had the ship sailing by the sheer force of the men rowing below deck. I could hear their groans and grunts from moving such a huge craft across the sea. "The wind has left us." He said, looking to where the sail had been rolled up.
"So how do we get to Ramandu's island, then?" Edmund asked, looking around at the wide ocean. Drinian walked around Edmund over to the stairs that led up to the helm. I walked with him.
"My guess... something doesn't want us to get there." He said. I frowned but followed him up to the helm and looked at Eustace flying next to the ship.
"If I get any hungrier…' One of the crew muttered as they passed by Edmund and looked up at where Eustace flew over their heads, 'I'm gonna eat that dragon!" Eustace let out an angry growl at his words.
"Don't worry, Eustace!' Reepicheep shouted over the wind from Eustace's wings, 'They'll have to deal with me, first.' Eustace let out a soft roar and flew away, Reepicheep grabbing tightly to his horns at the sudden movement, 'Ah! Careful!"
"Don't worry Eustace.' I shouted to the Dragon as it flew by. 'Anyone who thinks of eating you will have The Valiant Queen and The Just King to deal with. As well as me and Caspian."
Drinian nodded. "Aye, Milady. But I still fear if we don't find land by soon, they may very well eat tha-" The ship suddenly lurched, cutting off what he was going to say, as if something had hit it. I yelped as I fell forward, having lost my balance. Throwing my hands in front of me so I don't introduce my face to the deck, I landed on my stomach and looked up at the others to see Caspian holding on to the railing, Lucy and Edmund were holding onto the stairs railing and Drinian was gripping the helm.
Caspian pushed himself back up and went to where Drinian had stood up.
"What did we hit?" He asked urgently as they ran to the side of the ship to see what they had hit to cause the sudden lurch. I pushed myself up and ran over to the railing as well. My eyes widened seeing the ship was moving along the water even though the oars weren't moving. Edmund came up beside me and looked down before looking up to the front of the ship and smiled widely from what he saw. I follow his gaze and gave a laughing cheer.
"Eustace! That's brilliant!" "Go Eustace!"
Eustace had his tail wrapped around the head of the dragon at the front of the boat, pulling it forward in the direction of the Blue Star. Reepicheep scurried off Eustace's head and onto the head of the wooden dragon's head, holding onto the horn on its nose, holding out his sword. I ran over and stood in the Dragon's mouth.
"Onward ho!" The mouse exclaimed, the crew cheered, pulling their oars back inside. I looked up and saw Eustace looking back at me and grinned when I saw a smile on Eustace's face at the sound of their cheers.
Hours later, the sun had set, and I headed to my cabin. I changed into my nightgown, only realizing it had shrunk a few sizes in the wash. It was showing more cleavage then I would like, and it fell barely halfway to my knees. I sighed shaking my head and turned around only to find Caspian standing there staring. Well specifically, he was staring at my chest and legs.
Poor guy. Probably never been exposed to so much legs and chest before.
I gulped. After a minute, I crossed my arms over my chest and said. "Caspian? My eyes are up here." I circled my face with my pointer finger. He gulped and lifted his eyes to meet mine.
"Are you wearing Gael's nightgown?" he asked swallowing hard.
"No. This is mine. It somehow shrunk in the wash." I tugged at the bottom of it.
He cleared his throat and distracted himself by picking up the sword he gave me. He sat on the bed as he examined it. "We can't be sure the lords even made it to Ramandu's island."
I walked over and placed my hands on his shoulders, massaging them a bit. "I don't remember, Caspian... But I think we'll find a surprise when we get there. Though, I get the feeling Eustace will fly through the night and we'll arrive there tomorrow before sunset."
"Another thing,' He moaned as I started getting rid of one particular knot in his left shoulder blade. 'How do we know they weren't tempted, too?" He placed the sword back against the wall.
"Did you forget what Coriakin said: 'Look for the Blue Star, stay true to its course. Don't yield, and don't falter.' He told them the same thing.' I paused and gave his shoulders a squeeze. 'They were tempted. They faltered. But that doesn't mean that the last four fell."
"I almost did." Caspian said, leaning forward, placing his elbows on his knees and entwining his fingers. His forehead laid upon them and he glared at the opposite wall.
I wrapped my arms around him, laid my hands on his chest and leaned on his back. "That's the difference between you and Lord Restimar: you didn't. You stopped yourself. No one is perfect. We all make mistakes. You didn't let that pool on Dragon Island hold a grip on you. You returned to the ship, resisting greed."
"But it was you and Lucy who stopped me and Edmund.' He sat up and clasped his hands over the ones wrapped around him. 'I would have succumbed to the Midas Curse. Ended up forever dead as a Statue of Gold."
"Don't say things like that.' I leaned into him more and felt him stiffen a bit as my chest pressed into his back. 'You are a Strong Man, Caspian. You suffered from your Uncle's lies and came up a better man. You survived that and all this. You were just fine before I came along and you'll be the same if I leave."
He didn't speak. I slowly released his hands and pulled away only to find myself lying on my back with Caspian hovering over me. His face was serious and determined but his eyes were dilated and dark with a tiny bit of lust.
"I don't want to be 'just fine' if it means not being with you.' My eyes widened and my breath caught in my throat as he kissed my forehead gently, 'I don't want to know what life would be like if you weren't here by my side, Anna.' He kissed my nose and cheeks. 'To know that you wouldn't return to me someday.' He kissed my ear then down my neck to my collarbone. 'To know that I could never hold you in my embrace again."
He tugged at the collar of my nightgown with his teeth and I was trying my best not to let my speeding heart fly out of my chest. "I always want you beside me. Always in my arms.' He looked up at me, his hand cupping my cheek, 'I always want to touch your snow-white skin, to run my fingers through your blonde-white hair, to feel your warmth and hear your heartbeat. To wake every morning to see you beside me, gazing at me with love in your starlight eyes. I want you with me until the day I die."
I looked at him with wide eyes for a minute before I smiled. "I want that too. I would stay with you always if I could."
He smashed his lips onto mine and kissed me passionately until we were out of breath. At one point it seemed I had wrapped my arms around his neck, and he had cupped the back of my neck with one hand and the other rested on my thigh.
"You have... no idea, Bella... how long I've been waiting to hear that." He panted before his mouth found mine again. I felt his tongue poke at my lips, but I denied him entrance. I heard him growl before I felt the hand on my thigh travel up to the edge of my nightgown. I gasped and felt his smirk as his tongue dove into my mouth, fought and won against mine, before mapping every part of my mouth.
A minute later, he pulled away and I saw the fire of lust burning in his dark eyes. He lowered his head next to my ear. "I love you, mia Bella Ángel de Estrellas. So, so much." He said as he kissed it before trailing kisses down my neck and moving his hand underneath the silk of the gown to grip my hip.
"I love you, too.' I muttered. I ran my fingers through his hair and bit my lip when I felt the hand on my hip rub circles and random patterns upon the skin. 'Caspian!" I gasped breathlessly as he bit the junction connecting my neck to my shoulders.
After a minute, Caspian pulled away, reluctantly, and looked down at my flustered form. "I'm not going any further.' He muttered. 'Not until I'm certain you're ready for it."
I sighed and straitened my nightgown. "I guess I can only hope Lucy and Gael don't see the hickey you gave me."
"I'm sorry." He said sitting up and pulling away.
I sat up and shook my head. "It's fine. This shows you care about me."
Caspian smiled at me and I smiled back before leaning up to kiss him again.
The next twenty-four hours seemed to pass slowly as Eustace continued pulling the ship, but soon we saw the Island.
The island itself was lush and covered with hundreds of green plants, cliff tops with waterfalls cascading down most all of them. The sky above was clear, no rain cloud in site. The Blue Star looked definitely bigger and brighter now we were at Ramandu's Island.
"Drinian,' Caspian said looking over the Island in awe, 'Make anchor and prepare the longboats."
"Aye, your majesty.' The man said, nodding once and turning to the crew, 'Furl the sails and drop anchor! Prepare the longboats to go ashore!" The crew bustled about, doing as the captain ordered them and getting everything ready.
As we rowed, Eustace landed on a large rock, wings and tail drooped, panting hard. "Well done, Eustace!" I shouted to him and he gave me the dragon version of thumbs up.
We landed on shore and slowly made our way up through a stone path that seemed to lead higher up one of the cliffs, to what could be temple ruins of some type. On the way up, no one spoke and that made the entire journey very quiet and creepy. The fact that the sun was setting, and dusk was upon us didn't particularly help that notion, only adding an air of darkness to the large, overgrown vines that covered the trees and their thick branches.
Edmund brought out his torch and led us up a path. First, we climbed stone steps, past a waterfall, and through a willow tree lined path. We crossed the stone bridge over a river that obviously led to the waterfall we passed the bridge had large gargoyles lining it, their beaks opened partially as if ready to snap at the next person to disturb them.
They Creeped. Me. Out!
Caspian noticed this and grabbed my hand, squeezing it softly. I smiled at him in thanks and squeezed back. We paused as we saw, ahead of us, two trees that had grown so large and so tall that they grew together and formed an arch over a walkway. We walked slowly under it and I knew I wasn't the only one feeling a warmth run through me. I turned forward when I heard someone gasp and I couldn't help but do the same.
Before us was a table of stone with benches along the sides, all cushioned with moss-like pillows. On the table were unlit candelabras and what only could be described as a Feast! Food of all kinds were lined along the table looking just cooked and out of the oven, yet in some type of stasis. Fine-looking meats, fresh fruits and vegetables, soups, and tempting deserts all across it. Plates, forks, knives, spoons and goblets of gold lined the table along with napkins and pitchers of what I guessed was wine and water.
"Mm... Food." I heard Tavros mutter but kept from reaching for it. I however grabbed a few grapes and popped one in my mouth when no-one was looking. It was sweet and seedless, my favorite. After swallowing one, I ran into Caspian's back as he had stopped. I looked around him to see why and my eyes widened when I saw three figures slumped over, covered in vines and moss, at the table's head.
Edmund shined his light on them to get a better look, and found they were three bearded men, with their eyes wide open. He and the others jumped and pulled out their swords, but the three didn't move to attack them at all. Edmund and Caspian moved closer to them, swords out and at the ready if they needed it. Edmund looked curiously at one of the men, while Caspian looked down at their hands, seeing they bore rings. He moved some of the vines aside with his sword and recognized the symbol of the one at the head of the table.
"Lord Revilian,' He said, he moved to the lord next to him and Edmund shined his flashlight on them to help him see the ring on his finger, 'Lord Mavramorn,' Caspian looked over at the third lord, recognizing the pendant on his neck, 'Lord Argoz."
The crew put their swords away when they realized the bodies were three of the seven lords, some even began inspecting the freshness of the food on the table, seeing as how rations had been pretty low and they were hungry. I sat down close to where Caspian stood but far away enough from the Lords.
Lucy moved some of the hair out of Lord Mavramorn's face and jumped back when she felt his breath on her hand. Caspian leaned in closer to look at the lord and saw his long beard gently sway with his inhale and exhale.
"He's breathing…' He murmured in surprise looking at the others seeing their long beards moving as they breathe. 'They all are."
"They're under a spell. Like the Sleeping Beauty." I muttered popping another grape into my mouth.
Caspian was thinking about what could have caused the spell. His head suddenly snapped up and he held out his hand to the crew and yelled, "It's the food!"
"Huh?" Tavros turned towards him and dropped the apple in his hand as the crew stepped away from the table.
"It's not the food! Otherwise I would have been under the spell when I ate the first grape." I said getting more comfortable in the seat and ignoring Caspian's 'Be more careful!' look.
Edmund shook his head at me before seeing something on the table. Moving closer and shinning his Flashlight on it, Lucy gasped seeing it. "It's the Stone Knife!" I looked at it and shivered at the thought that, that knife was used by the White Witch to kill Aslan.
"That means this is Aslan's Table!" Edmund exclaimed.
"Which means the food is safe to eat." I placed the napkin in my lap and the candelabra in front of me lit. As I poured what I found to be a butterscotch flavored milk-like drink in my goblet and cut a small slice of beef for my plate, Caspian saw the three other blades we've been looking for at their waists.
"Their swords.' He pulled out Lord Revilian's while Lucy and Ed pulled out the other Lords. 'On the table."
They lay down the swords, creating a small circle with them. Edmund and Lucy laid their swords down and I reached behind me and pulled out my sword and laid it down.
"That's six." Edmund said.
"Still missing one." Caspian said.
I leaned away from the table when I saw the six swords began to glow a blue light. The others did the same but then looked up when a brighter blue light, the Blue Star itself, started coming closer to us. I stood up and Caspian drew his sword, stepping in front of me as I had given up mine. The Star came down and changed before our eyes into a woman with white-blonde hair like mine, dressed in a bluish-white dress. The bluish glow the star gave off reflected on her skin making her glow.
"Travelers of Narnia,' she said in a soft, musical voice. 'Welcome.' The Elegance and Grace in her aura was like that of Royalty, so all of us bowed. 'Arise.' She motioned and we all straitened. 'Are you not hungry?" She asked with an amused smile on her lips.
While I stepped around Caspian, I walked forward a bit. She was familiar somehow... I knew that voice... I knew her face. "Lily?"
