The cool blankets
next to a draughty window
the fiery hot radiator burning my skin
the warm nest, so I'd wish
disappears into nightmares of my tired mind
dream after dream
the smoky, dark wisps in my mind
the ray of sun, arriving too early
awakens me, tears my eyes
opens the world before me
the warmth of my skin lingering in the blankets:
The world can hardly appreciate the sacrifice
I make every morning just by getting up
