A Shattered Life
Chapter 52: Proposal
With the battle over everyone could finally take a moment to gather their bearings. Both Geo and Ruby were tired after joining their Auras to defeat the Nuckelavee beast, an abomination created from the bowels of the Dark Realm. Ruby fell to her knees with severe pain in her chest, she could barely breathe and sweat was all over the face. "T-That was awesome..." She gasped for air. "But I don't think I want to do this again." Ruby looked at Geo and noticed that he seemed completely fine. "H-How are you not in pain?"
Geo glanced at her as he had his mouth covered but he couldn't contain it any longer. He vomited blood and almost lost his balance but he managed to remain standing. "Ahh! It feels like my insides are burning like hell itself." Groaned the young boy in pain. "I would prefer to be stabbed in the chest than to deal with this!" He fell to the ground clutching his chest. "But you know what? I don't care about this pain at least our daughter is safe now." A smile spread across his face.
Ruby smiled as well, thankfully the intense pain didn't last long and within moments she gathered enough strength to get back up. But even though she was happy her daughter was safe it didn't felt like a victory because Geo's father was gone forever, his soul erased from existence by Cerviel's blade. "A-About your dad..." Ruby knew that her boyfriend had no problem showing his love for her but when it came about talking about his feelings, well, the boy always preferred to say nothing. "I'm sorry. I wished we could have done something to help him."
"He got what he deserved in the end." Replied Geo, then he sighed. "I am not happy that he is gone but I am not sad either. He was like a stranger to me really, we barely talked to each other all he cared about was sending me to battle, to make me an 'effective killer' like he used to say." He got up and approached his girlfriend. "But even after all of that crap I forgave him, not because it is the right thing to do, you know I don't care about that but because I want to be a better person for you and our daughter."
The young girl placed her hand on his face and guided him to her pure silver eyes. "I know if there was a chance to save him you would have taken it. You always say things like that but I know you don't really mean that your actions show that." She said with her sweet tone. "And I'm glad you are trying to improve yourself but remember you don't have to walk alone, I am here for you. I believe there's a bright future for you Geo, even if you don't believe in yourself I will always believe in you no matter what."
Geo's face turned red. "A bright future..." He thought for a moment in those words. "Hmm, if we happen to have a future together then I would want to spend it being with you and raising our daughter in a little farm where it would be just us." His arm wrapped around the red warrior while his Grimm hand caressed her cheek. "But before that can happen we have a Dark God to kill and that won't be easy but you give me hope that we can actually win this. And I have been meaning to ask you a question its something I have been thinking for a whole year."
Ruby stared at the boy and noticed he was sweating a lot and his hands were shaking as well. "W-What is it? You look nervous." She asked. "Is everything alright?"
"I...will...god dammit. I can fight Grimm and people with no problem but when it comes to matters of the heart I always feel nervous." He whispered to himself, he did his best to remain calm but it was a losing battle as he getting more nervous by the second. Then, Geo kneeled and looked at her girlfriend's glimmering silver eyes, her beauty could even make the sun itself blush. "Will you, Ruby Rose marry me?" In that precise moment, it seemed like the universe itself stopped as he waited for the young girl's answer.
"I...uhhh, I..." Her face was beyond red and she struggled to find the right words. This question caught her completely off guard and because of that her brain was a mess. "...I...I want...uhhhh..." has stopped working. She was about to fall backwards but Geo caught her and brought her close to him, she now could feel his heart racing and for a moment all the memories she had with her lover came flooding. "Y-Yes!" Ruby answered. "I want us to be one." She hid her face on his chest.
Hearing that made Geo smile and his heart was filled with happiness. With some difficulty, he managed to pull Ruby from his chest and tried to look at her red face. Ruby hesitantly looked up at him, the swirls of emotion made her gasp a bit. Then his lips touched hers, the kiss obliterated every thought she had, for the first time in a year her mind was locked into the present. All the worries she had evaporated like a summer shower onto a hot car. Nothing around them mattered except the warmth of their lips, they moved in perfect sync, his hand feeling her waist pulled her closer, the kiss deeper, more passionate.
They then pulled away from each other's lips. Ruby stared at him with a tear-stained face. "T-This time I won't leave without you, you hear me? I want you to come with me. I don't care about the rules of the God of Light, I...I think that after everything I have done and the horrible things that have happened. I-I deserve to be a bit selfish for once." She hugged him with all her strength.
"...Alright." He replied. "I don't know if the Light God will go after me but since he won't even show up to protect his lands maybe we have a chance without him knowing. But if he does show up eventually then I shall fight him with everything I've got." Geo clenched his hand into a fist. "No matter what I won't lose."
"Yes, yes, yes. That's all very sweet and cute but if we are really doing this then without a doubt we will be considered enemies in the eyes of the Light God of that I am sure." Said the spider, who crawled onto the top of the boy's shoulder.
"Oh? Since when it's 'we'?" Asked Geo with a smirk.
"Hahaha!" The spider laughed. "To be honest I am tired of seeing how things will play out so this time I will help you, mortals. It will be almost impossible to stop the Dark God but we might have a small chance if we destroy the Well of Souls. That's his link to Remnant and the reason for his growing power."
"Really? But how does he draw power from it?" Ruby was puzzled.
"The Well of Souls was created during the Great War, because of the violence and the millions dead the world was in chaos and from that a source of raw Dark Aura was brought into existence. It absorbs all the evil souls from mankind so about a large amount of your race ends up there every year and the Dark God has found a way to use it to power himself up even more." Explained the spider. "Not even Salem knew of its existence, in fact, only two beings know where it resides."
"The Dark God and you." Pointed Geo.
"Hahaha! Precisely." He replied. "Good boy, you deserve a treat."
"Bite me."
"Then we have a plan." Ruby said. "We will take care of Salem back on Remnant and we will destroy the Well of Souls, after that, we go after the Dark God to finish this once and for all." With this plan she was confident they could win this war. "By the way how did you know its location?" She asked. "Unless, you were born from that place that would explain your powers. And how about you finally give us your name? We are friends after all."
"...She's a keeper boy."
"Call me boy again and I will rip out your legs."
The spider then jumped to Ruby's shoulder. "Hmm...I am Grimm since I was born from the darkness but unlike many of my kind, I am actually smart. As for my name its really not important little girl you have more serious things to worry about. In a matter as fact how about you place that ring on her finger already bo-I mean Geo."
Geo and Ruby blushed. "It feels like you want to change the subject but you are right." The young man grabbed the girl's hand and placed the silver ring with a ruby gem on Ruby's finger. "With this you are my fiancee and I am yours. My soul belongs to you my love and I will follow you to wherever you go." Ruby then gave him a small kiss on his lips. "I love you, Ruby Rose."
"I love you too." Her happiness was beyond words right now. She looked at him with glimmering eyes, even if many described Geo's appearance to the one of a demon because of his pale skin like Salem's and his Grimm arm. She knew that his heart was good and that he would never give up on her no matter what. "We should go back to Remnant our train must be arriving at Argus station any moment now."
"True but when we get there we must hide Geo's identity otherwise we will have more problems to deal with and I hate problems." Said the spider. "I will give you a mask and a cloak, you shall act as Ruby's bodyguard."
"Understood." He nodded.
"And one word of advice, I would keep my eye on that Oscar fellow he might seem harmless but he has Ozpin's soul inside so be careful." Warned the spider. "Keep your family safe Geo Casterwill, don't let anyone hurt them. It is rare to find a girl like Ruby so make sure to keep her happy."
"I know." He smiled. Then, he turned to his older brother. "You can come with us, you don't have to be alone brother we can fight together."
"No." Cerviel refused. "My place is here, I will hold on the forces of the Dark God for as long as I can. Even if my soul is erased remember that I will be with you, always." He hugged his brother. "You are the true King of Gwain, the last King Casterwill, please don't let our home be forgotten brother its the only home we have."
"I promise you! When I get back I will restore Gwain." His determination grew. "I will no longer run away from my duty as King, I shall accept the crown and bring peace to our land. After that, I will live my own life without the crown, only me and my Ruby and daughter."
"That's the Geo, I remember." Cerviel smiled. "But do try to keep it on your pants both of you or at least use protection, you two are so young and already have a daughter. If you are not careful in five years you will have four kids."
They blushed. "That's none of your business!" With a flash, they vanished back to Remnant.
