A Shattered Life
Chapter 53: A Hero
Brilliant gold and orange hues bled like fire in the east over the mountains of snow and even beyond the land. The first slither of the sun peeked over the skyline in a radiant, white form. Gradually it raised, a defined circle in a vibrant backdrop. The rivers were liquid gold and silver, and soon the same rivers began to shake as a train past near them with full speed. "I've missed this feeling of warmth." Said Geo as he stretched up his hand to the sky. As the sun fully revealed itself it seemed to swell, loosing its focus and spreading in contrast to Geo's contracting pupil. "Bright as ever."
When the sunlight reached Roary's crib, she began to move a little until it finally awoke her from her sleep. It didn't take long before she started crying. "Shhh! Its alright little strawberry, I'm here." The young boy smiled at his daughter trying to comfort her. Unfortunately, the baby still cried so he walked around the room and moved her up and down a little. "Don't cry my sweet, everything is alright." It still didn't work. "Is it normal for her to be crying like this?"
Ruby giggled. "She must be hungry, give her to me please." The boy went to her and delivered the baby with care. Ruby wasn't fully dressed so it was easy to push her top to the side and start breastfeeding her daughter. "Hehe! See, she was just hungry." She said with her sweet tone. "Anyway, you are up early I hope you had a good night's sleep."
Geo blushed. "Hmm yes, but we did more than sleep." He scratched the back of his head due to embarrassment, but seeing his soon to be wife happy and daughter together reminded him of what happiness felt like, for a moment all the pain life had thrown at him he was gone. "Anyway, I think..." He looked at Ruby and noticed she was blushing for some unknown reason. "Are you alright? You seem a bit red."
"My panties..." She pointed at his shoulder. When Geo looked at his side he saw a pair of black panties. "It's cold in here and since I have my hands full could you maybe...you know." Her face was beyond red but a small smile was spread across her lips. "Help me dress them." She winked.
"You are doing this on purpose but I can play your game, my lady." Without delay and much embarrassment, Geo grabbed her panties and got down on his knees. He slides the panties on his girlfriend and began to go up to her legs. Geo stopped for a second to deliver a few soft kisses on her left leg, making her giggle a little. "I love the way you giggle its cute." Within moments he had finally finished his task and Roary was full.
Ruby got up. "Back to bed little girl." She placed her in her crib and after a few minutes, the baby fell asleep again. "She looks like an angel when she sleeps, but only when she sleeps. When she's awake and crying Roary can be mean with kicking and punching everything and everyone, I sometimes think she's more dangerous than a Grimm." Said Ruby as she knew the reality of raising a child, it was far more difficult than she could ever imagine.
"I understand." Geo placed his hand on her shoulder. "But you are no longer alone my love, I am here for both of you."
Ruby touched Geo's hand. "I know you are." After the events that took place at Beacon one year ago, Ruby hasn't felt safe. In fact was tired of always being locked in combat for her life or her friends and family, there was always something after them and she didn't have the one she loved by her side to give her the confidence she desperately needed but now that had changed. "Promise me this time you won't leave me." She whispered to him. "I need to hear you say it, please."
"I don't have to." He turned Ruby around facing him. "Even in death I fought for you, my promise was never broken and it will never be." His expression showed determination. Ruby hugged him and pressed her face against his chest to feel his warmth. The boy wrapped his arms around her beautiful figure and they stayed in that position. "I sometimes wonder...How can someone like me be loved by a pure Rose like you? After everything I have done."
"When you look at yourself you see all the terrible things your dad and Ozpin forced you to do, you see only a monster. But when I look at you, I see someone who fights to protect those he loves no matter what. You saved a village from being destroyed by Grimm, you fought against the White Fang to protect your kingdom, you sacrificed yourself to save your people." Answered Ruby. "You are neither a Huntsman nor a Warrior, you are a hero, my hero."
"Ruby..."
"If you doubt yourself, then believe in me because I believe in you."
"I..." Geo was then suddenly interrupted as the train hit the brakes for some unknown, sending Geo and Ruby towards the wall with quite some violence. Ruby hit her head against a painting causing a small wound to appear and drip some blood across her face. "Ruby! You are bleeding." He ripped part of the red girl's cape and wrapped it around her forehead. "Are you alright?" Geo lifted Ruby's face and noticed her silver eyes were moving quite fast as if they were looking for something. "Can you hear me? Focus, look at me, Ruby."
Within moments her eyes stopped and focused on the young Prince. "Y-Yeah don't worry." She replied. "I'm just a bit dizzy, damn my head hurts." Ruby groaned. "Help me sit down please." With that said her lover guided her to their bed where she could rest for a moment. "C-Check Roary, see if she's alright."
Geo approached the crib and looked at his daughter. "Don't worry, our little strawberry is fine, it kinda looks like she liked that."
Ruby let out a sigh of relief. "Good, that's good." She struggled a little to get up but she managed nonetheless. "I have no idea why we stopped but it can't be good we better gather our things and check with others outside." Ruby quickly grabbed her weapon but noticed that Geo hadn't moved from his spot. "Geo? What is it?"
"We can't leave our daughter here alone, besides if I walk out of here I am pretty everyone will call me a demon."
"Roary won't be alone will she?" She looked at her shoulder and the black spider crawled up to her line of sight. "And as for you, here." Ruby removed her red cape and she put it on Geo and covered his face with the hood. "There, now no one will see your face. I still say that you don't need to hide it, I mean everyone here is from Gwain. They won't care about how you look, they will be happy to see you again."
"I...I don't know about that." He replied. "As for you, keep my daughter safe otherwise not even the Dark God will save you from me."
"Hehehe! I shall keep her safe." Said the spider. "You look cute with that cape, it brings out your eye."
"I swear someday I will flush you down a toilet." Said Geo as he and Ruby left the cabin.
All the passengers were in a state of panic as they had no idea what was happening. Both warriors pushed through the crowd as they made their way towards the exit, though it was protected by two Mirage Knights that were trying to keep everyone calm. "Please go back into your cabins everything is alright people, please calm down. General Avala and her knights are taking care of the problem so we should be ready to move at any moment now." One of them then saw the red girl approaching. "My Queen you shouldn't be here, you are safer in your cabin please go back."
"I'm afraid I can't do that." She replied. "I want to speak with Avala, I need to know what's going on, so please let me out."
"U-Understood my Queen." The knight opened the door and right after Ruby jumped down to the snow, the red hooded figure was stopped by the knight. "Where do you think you are going, young man? Only the Queen as permission to leave the train, not you." He tried to push Geo back but the boy didn't move. "Listen, I will use force if I have to, you are not going out there."
Geo placed his hand on the knight's wrist. "Don't worry, I will keep our Queen safe, I won't let anything happen to her you have my word." The knight couldn't see the stranger's face but he saw his purple eye. "You once believed in me so don't doubt me now knight, trust that no matter what happens I will protect you all with my life." Geo then jumped onto the snow, and the knight had a good look at the boy's weapon, it was Stormcaller Malice. "...It can't be...that was...Lord Geo?"
Both Ruby and Geo walked towards the front of the train. When they finally reached it they found General Avala with a large amount of Mirage knights trying to clear the path, it seemed a recent storm had caused a rockslide that ended up blocking their way. "Come on knights! Lets clear this pile of rubble faster we don't want to stay here for long otherwise the Grimm will come to us." Said Avala as she helped her soldiers throw a big rock down the mountain. "Knight Colm! Tell the engineer to bring the weapons on the train online just to be safe, we don't want to be caught with our pants down."
"Yes sir!" The knight saluted before leaving in a rush.
Ruby and the hooded figure approached the General. "So this is why we stopped." Ruby pointed. "How long will it take to clear the path?" She asked.
"Not sure, but you shouldn't be here Ruby, it's too dangerous for you to be out here in the open." Said Avala but before Ruby could say anything she continued. "I know you can take care of yourself but you have to remember that it's my duty to protect my Queen and the heir to the throne." Then she noticed the injury on the girl's head. "What happened to your forehead? Don't tell me you hit your head when we pushed the brakes?"
Ruby nodded. "Unfortunately, yes."
"I'm sorry Ruby but everything happened so fast that we didn't have the time to warn anyone."
"It's alright, don't worry about it." She replied.
"On a different note, who is this small fry with you?" General Avala looked at him from top to bottom, sizing him up. "He is even wearing your cape, please don't tell me he is your new bodyguard. I have told you that you don't need one, you already have me, my Queen." She said. "Besides, this little boy doesn't seem like a fighter and...and..." At that moment Avala noticed the blade, Stormcaller Malice on the young man's waist. "How the hell did you get that weapon?!" She grabbed him. "Tell me! Where did you get that blade?! NOW!"
Geo lowered his gaze and answered. "I got it from my mother."
General Avala gritted her teeth as her expression changed to one of anger. "You LIE!" She shouted. "That sword belonged to my Lord Geo Casterwill, how dare you use it?!"
"Avala calm down, I can explain."
"Don't touch me, Ruby! You allowed some unknown bastard to take my Geo's weapon like it was nothing." Avala's anger grew. "You listen to me you piece of crap, you are going to give me that blade now! Only my Lord Geo can use that sword no one else!" She threw him to the snow. "I don't know who you are and I honestly don't care but you will give that blade to me, one way or another."
"General! General!" Shouted the knight as he ran towards Avala. "G-Grimm...we got hundreds coming towards us at great speed, they outnumber us five to one."
"We are fucked." Said another knight.
"What can we do?!"
"There's nothing we can do. We can't stop them."
With this event, all the knights stopped working and began to approach forming a circle with General Avala and the red hooded figure at the center. Geo slowly got up and looked at the General. "You said I am not worthy of using it, and maybe you are right but I will change that." He replied. "I've got so much to make up for and I intend to do so! I don't care about the power, I don't care about the fame, but I will give my all to save my people and live up to my name!" Geo released his blade and with his Aura the sword glowed purple as did the rest of his body.
"I-Impossible." Gasped Avala.
"Geo..." Whispered Ruby.
All the knights were amazed by the warrior's power, Geo jumped on top of the train with Ruby following him. "Don't give in to despair because you are not alone, we are all brothers and sisters fighting for the right to exist in this world, for our families and those we love so they can leave in peace without being afraid of monsters!" Geo pulled is hood, revealing his face then he raised his blade. "I don't fight for good or for evil, I just FIGHT! To protect everything that I love! I AM GEO CASTERWILL! KING OF GWAIN AND I SHALL FIGHT FOR MY PEOPLE! WILL YOU STAND WITH ME?!" His purple light glowed like a beacon of hope.
"I WILL!"
"SO WILL I!"
"LONG LIVE KING GEO! SAVIOUR OF OUR PEOPLE!"
"Geo..." Whispered Avala. "My King...I STAND WITH YOU!"
Ruby stared at him with a smile. "I told you...you are a hero, Geo."
