A Shattered Life

Chapter 58: Dark and Silver

The storm raged on but with even more intensity than before which forced the train to go slower to avoid derailing. The shaking was somewhat tolerable but the high pitch sound of the wind prevented many from falling asleep so most passengers were still up like Ruby and her friends.

The young red was playing an adventure RPG game in her Scroll. At the moment she was fighting against an AI opponent, she pressed different buttons in quick succession and her character performed a flashy special move that ended the fight with her victory. "Finally! The Twin Towers of Moria bow to their new mistress! No one can match my power!" She revealed quite a smug expression. "Next, I will take over the Aldemary Empire! Hehehe!"

"You sound more like an evil conqueror than a savior." Said Wiess while she flipped to the next page of her book. Ruby looked at her and narrowed her eyes, then she stick out her tongue. "Wow! Very mature of you, I can see why Geo fell in love with someone like you." Sarcastically said the Ice Queen.

"Oh yeah? At least I have a boyfriend." Replied Ruby.

"Uhhh, she got you there." Yang commented as she continued to do some maintenance to her robotic arm.

Weiss stared at both girls and her expression showed she was annoyed. "Whatever." She flipped to another page of her book. "But I do have a question if I may ask. What are you doing here? This room is mine and Yang's, you have your own bedroom since you are the Queen right?" Weiss asked.

As Ruby was about to answer Yang pushed her little sister's head against the pillow. "Last time she and Geo shared a bedroom they got too frisky and Roary was the result." The young red raised her head free from Yang's grip, she was blushing. "It's not that I don't trust him it's just I don't trust my sister to keep her hands to herself."

"Hmmm, I see." The heiress closed her book. "For someone who has problems on how to interact with people you act quite different with him, you almost look like a normal human being."

"What can I say, it's simply easier talking with him I guess. Besides, he is a sucker for redheads so that helps me a lot, hehe." Ruby then looked to her side to check on her daughter. Roary was sleeping but on her tiny hand, she was holding her favorite toy, a Beowolf plushie that Avala had made. "Awww! When she is like this she looks so adorable." She delivered a gentle kiss to the baby's forehead. "My little Roary is the best thing that has ever happened to me. I shall always keep you a safe little gem."

Weiss smiled. "Adorable indeed."

"But you are lucky we are all here helping you sis, specially Hydrox he seems to know much stuff about babies for some reason."

"Well, he lost..." Ruby paused for a second this was a subject that wasn't hers to discuss. "Hmm, don't ask him about that it's difficult for him to talk about it and seeing me every day with Roary doesn't help either."

Yang realized what she meant. "Oh...I guess that explains why he seems sad."

"How can you tell? He wears a mask." The Ice Queen asked.

"It's in his eye, at first I thought it was rage but now I guess he was actually sad."

A sudden noise from the hallway cut the conversation short, the three girls immediately turned to the door as it seemed to become louder with each passing moment. Ruby got up and opened the door when she looked outside she noticed several knights standing guard and some passing towards another part of the train. "I apologize for the noise my Queen all of our officers have been summoned by General Avala." Said the knight. "Final preparations for our arrival have begun so in a couple of hours we will arrive at the city."

"Oh, thank you." She replied, but then noticed quite the number of knights standing guard. "There are many of you here, is something wrong?"

"No your highness, Lord Geo has ordered us to keep guard and make sure everyone is safe for the night."

"And where is 'my Lord'?" Ruby smiled.

"I believe in his bedroom."

Ruby turned to the girls. "Please watch Roary for me I am going to make a little visit. Yang gave her a thumbs up and with that she closed the door. The young red made her way through the hallway while being escorted by two knights, within a few moments she arrived at the boy's bedroom and knocked at the door. "I'm coming in." When she entered the room she found most of her friends there. "Uhhh, I didn't expect to find you all here." Ruby had the intention of being with her boyfriend alone.

"Hey red tornado!" Waved Nora. "Join us, we are sharing stories about ourselves so our new friend can know us better and in return, he will share a few things about himself."

"I never agreed to this!" Geo protested. "I have no intention in doing this ridiculous thing, I'm a Casterwill."

The red girl giggled. "Sorry, Nora but he isn't the type of person that shares his feelings so openly even with me it's sometimes hard." She went towards him and seated right at his side. "But I can tell you one thing about him, he is always there for me when I need him." Hearing those sweet words caused the young man to be embarrassed. "Hehehe! Too easy."

"Awww! ghost boy is blushing!" Nora toyed. "You look so cute when your embarrassed!"

"Pffttt! 'Ghost boy'! Hahahaha!" Oscar and Jaune laughed.

"I am so sorry." Ren apologized.

"I really hate all of you." He was somewhat annoyed. "And refrain from calling me 'ghost boy', that's the worse nickname I have ever heard."

As they continue talking a blue light began emanating from the Relic of Knowledge, Oscar noticed the light coming out from his belongings. "Something's up with the relic." He grabbed it from his backpack and called her name.

Blue smoke enveloped the room. A being with the appearance of a human female came out from the relic. Her skin is light blue, she has elongated, pointed ears and beautiful flowing dark blue hair. They all stared at her as no matter how many times they see her they are still dazzled by her beauty. "Ahhh! Thank you, young man." She turned to Oscar. "I see the old man is deep within your mind refusing to come out. I think that's for the best, he tends to make matters worse when he intervenes in the plans of the gods."

Jinn turned her attention to the young Casterwill. "My, my! So it is true, I believed you were jesting when you told me you were together with a Casterwill but I was wrong." She was amused by this revelation, she looked closer at the boy. "You do realize that Castwerwills were created by the Dark God to be tools of destruction yes?"

"He isn't like that!" Ruby replied. "Whatever the Casterwills did before it has nothing to do with him."

"She's right, he helped us fight off those Grimm attacking the train." Said Nora.

"He saved me as well." Oscar added.

Geo remained silent as he continued to look at the blue being. "Perhaps but his nature will, in the end, consume him as it did all of his kind." Jinn had extended knowledge of Geo's people. "Silver Eyes and Casterwills are natural enemies. One Light the other Darkness locked in a war that will never end. So your daughter is mixed blood between you and this Casterwill." She smiled. "My, she has quite the unique bloodline."

"Your right." Geo got up. "Casterwills are servants of the Dark God, Augus the First King told me so. Our mission is to eradicate all of the Silver Eyes and prepare the world for his return." He said with a serious tone. "You can judge me however you like but I don't care about my people of old, I am not like them and I never will be my actions have shown this."

"Really? Then you will fight against your Maker? And your own mother?"

"No." Geo answered, leaving everyone perplexed. "I do not believe in destiny or fate! But...I know very well I don't have the power to defeat him but I know someone who has" He turned to Ruby. "I believe she has the power to destroy him, she has so much potential." The red girl's eyes glowed as she heard his sweet words. "As for Salem, she's mine alone to face."

"Good answer child." Jinn smiled.

"You speak as I have to impress you but tell me what is your purpose?"

"Wait! Geo we only have one question left." Oscar warned. "She can only answer three questions every one hundred years."

"Do you truly wish to waste your last question like that?" Jinn asked.

Geo smirked. "No need, I already have my answer." He walked towards the door.

Jinn got angry. "What is that supposed to mean you brat?! I am Jinn created by the Gods to guide humanity with my knowledge."

Laughter came from the ceiling and when they looked up they saw the black spider coming down on his web. "Hehehehe! You have done a marvelous job then! War, death, suffering. I have to say I really love what you have done so far! Hehehehe!"

"Don't you dare make fun of me spawn of Darkness." The blue being replied. "So this is the type of company you have with you Ruby? I expected more from a Silver Eyes such as yourself."

"What type of being are you?" Geo asked. "You can only answer three questions every one hundred years and you are supposed to guide humanity? Don't make me laugh." He placed his hand at the hilt of his blade. "You say you can see everything right? That's how you get your precious knowledge, then let me ask you. How many have you seen die and did nothing to help? To guide them?"

Jinn's anger grew. "Who are you to say such things dark abomination! I am a higher being! I am above all of you mortals!"

"Answer." Said Ruby. Jinn looked at the girl. "I want to hear your answer."

"Fine! Let us be done with this!" Her blue light got stronger as she prepared to reveal. "Over seven hundred thousand have died!"

Everyone was shocked. "Hehehe! Well so much for guiding humanity it seems." Mocked the spider. "For countless centuries you did nothing for these mortals except watch them die. As A Grimm I am actually impressed by your cruelty."

"Be quiet you vile insect!" She ordered. "And you Salem's spawn, you are no different! You share no love for this world or its people, you would burn everything to the ground just to save two lives!" Jinn said with anger. "So what's seven hundred thousand compared to millions?!"

"True but unlike you, I don't claim to be a higher being, or that I here to guide humanity." He replied. "And I do care 'about my people' as for the other kingdoms they are not my concern but if Ruby wishes to help them then I will stay at her side."

Jinn looked at the red huntress. "Do your duty as a Silver Eyes and destroy this follower of the Dark God." She demanded. "If you let him live he will betray all of you in the end, that's what all Casterwills do. He is nothing more than a monster, he has killed many innocents for the old man and his father."

"No." Said Ruby. "He did those horrible things because he was being manipulated. Geo might not care for Remnant but I know he is trying to be a better person for me and our daughter." She placed her hand on his cheek. "I believe in him, he isn't a monster because I know him and I love him. Let me show you."

Ruby's eyes glowed with silver light, then the room was engulfed with her light. When Jinn opened her eyes she saw Geo hadn't been affected. "That's...that's impossible." She couldn't understand what just happened, but she noticed Dark Aura and Silver Aura both dancing around each other in perfect balance. "I...I have never seen such a thing before. You...you really do love her don't you? Even with Dark Aura corrupting your soul you would never hurt her...I...I am sorry."

"You and Roary are all that matter to me." Said Geo as he continued to stare at Ruby's beautiful silver eyes. "But I do promise this, after this is all over I will never fight again. All I want is to have a quiet life with you."

Ruby smiled. "Hehe! I will hold you to that my King."

A sudden knock at the door caught their attention. "My King and Queen, we are about to arrive."
