Chapter 2.5: Hide and Seek With the Devil

***Trigger Warning***

The first bit has some non-con vibes, if that is triggering for you please skip this part

Elliott couldn't recall the last time she had a peaceful, nightmare free sleep. Actually, that wasn't quite true, if you counted the one blissfully deep and dreamless 'night' spent in the supernatural djinn dream like comma. She hadn't realized it at the time but it was probably the best sleep she had had in over a week. If she could be honest with herself, she'd admit it was the best sleep she's gotten since even before the final seal was broken. Her time under the djinn's influence was such a whirl wind of an emotional rollercoaster that she hadn't noticed it was her first time sleeping for more than four hours in weeks. This blissful sleep unfortunately didn't transfer over to reality.

Sam's lips were at her throat, stirring her from her sleep. His lips laying sloppy rough kisses that were all tongue and teeth. Elliott moaned as he worked his way down her throat to her collarbone, sucking her flesh. Teeth nipping and sucking teasingly at her skin as he drew away.

"Sam," Elliott moaned with a heavy breath. "What's gotten into you?" She giggled, enjoying the hazy moment.

"What? Can't I show my girl a good time?" He chuckled as he moved down to give attention to her exposed sensitive nipples. His callused thumb flicking and rolling one of them, the other already being lightly grazed by his teeth.

She moaned again, arching her back into the rough pleasure. Only the thin cotton fabric of his boxers letting her feel just how hard he was. He smirked pleased with himself, and rutted against her thigh, the soft bed beneath her not even creaking at the movement.

"Wait..." Elliott placed her hand on his shoulder brows knit together. "Where are we…? How did we…? When did you get here? Where did Dean go?" She shook her head trying to remember when Sam had arrived at the motel or if she even knew he was meeting them here. "How?" Last thing she remembered Dean had saved her from the djinn and she was crashing with the older Winchester for the night before driving back out to Sam.

"Sammm!" She gasped out as he pulled off of her nipple sharply and blew cold air at the wet sensitive bud. He was at her other one before she could say anymore, giving it the same attention. His hand smoothing over her hips and gliding down. Another moan escaped her throat before one of his hands slipped to her inner thigh and over her rippled burn scar, pulling her out of the moment enough to push Sam off of her.

"Stop- stop, I don't… What is going- Where are we? You weren't here. I was on the road with Dean… You were…"

Sam's expression dark and the heat in his eyes now extinguished and cold, sending a visible shiver up her spine.

"I was where?" He questioned eyeing her with dark curiosity. "Where were you headed? Where are you?"

Elliott frowned and blinked slowly trying to push past the haze. "What?" She mumbled pulling the sheet up to cover herself. "Sam?"

"Tell me pet, where are we?" He inched closer with a hungry neediness in his stormy hazel eyes.

Her breathe hitched in her throat and eyes widened fearfully. "You're not Sam." She breathed and struggled backward. Falling off the motel bed in a heap of tangled sheets to get away from him.

A frustrated sigh left Sam's lips. Then with a pout he started to blur and shimmer like a mirage until it was no longer Sam Winchester standing there. Instead, the cloudy blue eyed blonde man stood in his place fully clothed and unhappy.

"What gave me away this time?" He squinted at her frowning in an annoyed glare.

Scrambling to her feet holding the sheet up and around her nude body she felt too vulnerable. Wide fearful eyes just staring with a dumbfounded panic, at the devil.

"Speak." Lucifer ordered in a deep demanding tone. When she still didn't answer he took a step closer and she took a larger step back. Lucifer tilted his head like a bird, watching her actions closely almost amused by her fear. "Maybe we should start to work on those manners now?"

A spike terror thrummed through her like icy water at the memories of Alastair 'teaching her manners'. Fear forced her to speak without her consent. "You called me pet." She squeaked.

"What was that?"

"I- I said, you called me pet. S-Sam doesn't call me that." She watched him closely and took another step back but he took two encroaching steps for everyone of hers.

"Hmm," He pursed his lips and nodded. "Noted." Then began closing the distance between them. His steps were too casual, yet purposefully closing in on her. Elliott tried to control her breathing as it became shallow and panicked.

"No." Elliott held out one hand to keep him as far from her as possible, backing up away from the sinisterly approaching devil. "No. This isn't real, it's just a dream... Stay away from me!"

He chuckled as she backed herself into a wall, and jumped when her shoulders touched it. "Oh, my little pet. This may be a dream but it's as real as the devil." He smirked at his own joke, placing his hands on the wall at either side of her. Effectively caging her in.

"What do you want?" Elliott hissed trying to appear brave despite the fact that all that was between her and the devil was a thin motel sheet.

"You." He lifted a hand from the wall, and she flinched as his index finger reached out and lightly booped her on the nose like a child. "You are what I want of course."

"Well, I'm right here." She muttered through her teeth, sounding much braver than she felt.

Lucifer rolled his eyes. "No. We're here." He tapped a cold callused finger against her temple. "I need to know where you and that man of yours actually are."

"I don't know." She answered too quickly. He lifted a brow and closed what little space there was between them, until he was fully pressed up against her threateningly. Swallowing the hard lump in her throat she panted for air panic squeezing her lungs.

"Want to try that again?"

Her heart was racing and breathing was shallow, the threat obvious and terrifying. "I- I don't! I swear, I know where I was but I- I fell asleep while Dean was driving. I swear, I don't know."

His icy hand was on her throat the moment the words left her lips. "I don't appreciate being lied to little one." His fingers flexed around her throat threating her without total restriction letting her wheeze in and out. His other hand began sliding low on her hip. "Now be a good little bitch and tell me where you two are."

"Nno-" Elliott choked out between his fingers. Her body trembling held up only by his cold body pressing hers into the wall.

"Come on, neither of us want our first time together to be like this. Just tell me where you are pet and you can wake up and I'll even let you forget all of this." He soothed thumb rubbing circles on her inner hip.

A tear escaped as she closed her eyes tightly trying to block out everything around her. She kept her lips sealed tightly. Mentally telling herself over and over that this wasn't real, that this was a dream. Not real, just a dream. Then gathering any courage, she had left she opened her eyes to glare at the devil. "Sam is going to destroy you." She gritted out as harshly as she could with her throat restricted.

Lucifer smirked down at her, his fingers letting go of his grip but stayed resting around her throat. "Now, if you aren't going to be a good little bitch and tell me where you are I can always visit that Winchester of yours, in his dreams instead." Lucifer's smugly smirked at the new wave of panic that came over of her. "I mean, I should drop by for a visit and thank him. After all he is the one that freed me. That deserves a bit more than a thank you note."

"Leave him alone!" Elliott growled.

"Aw, I won't hurt him if you just tell me one thing. Don't you want to protect him? I don't want to hurt him, really I don't, but I will do what I have to. So…? Where are you?"

Elliott hung her head letting out shaky breath and whispered. "Little Rock." She swallowed hard when he didn't respond and saw his expectant face waiting for more detail. "I swear. There was a case, a djinn draining people, at a lake house. Please just- just don't hurt him."

"Hmm." Lucifer hummed cocking his head to the side like he was deciding if he should believe her stuttering or not. He inched in even closer until Elliott was nearly attempting to meld into the wall at her back. Doing anything she could to get further away. Ice cold lips landed on her forehead making Elliott hold her breath. "I'll believe you this time, but fair warning-" His cold breath making her hair stand on end. "-if you lied, you won't be shown mercy."

Elliott woke gasping and shivering. Dean who was usually gracious enough to ignore her when she woke forcefully from nightmares had apparently been too concerned this time.

"I'm okay." She panted heavily trying to regulate her rapid breathing.

"That had to be one Hell of a nightmare Elle. You were spazing out." Dean's tired eyes watched her carefully. "You sure you're okay…? Do, you -uh, uh, want to talk about it?"

She huffed quietly. It was clear in his awkward tone he didn't want to talk about it, which was fine because- her brows furrowed and she huffed a little perplexed at herself. "I, uh I don't remember it." The more she tried to recall the nightmare the faster it seemed to vanish from her thoughts. The nightmare slipping away like sand through her fingers.

Dean didn't appear to fully believe her but left it alone as they got ready for the day so he could drop her off at her truck. Which was fine with her. She was dying to get back to Sam. As cheesy and caliche as it sounded her chest actually ached not seeing him for just the short amount of time she was away.

After a well needed shower that she couldn't seem the get hot enough, she managed to call Sam and give him a heads up, on who she had worked with on her hunt. He didn't need to know that Dean wasn't there the whole time or that she originally was just working alone. He didn't need to know that.

"Wait Dean?" Sam asked his bewildered voice had a perfect picturing his puppy dog eyes wide and comically confused.

"Yeah, it's crazy. Guess that's why Bobby said I could trust this hunter on the case. Ended up taking the bastard out together." Making sure to avoid calling it a vampire, and refusing to tell him it was a djinn. "It was a milk run like I said it would be." Elliott lied smoothly getting a sour look from Dean as he packed his bag on the other bed.

"Wow." She listened to Sam huff and avoided Deans judgmental glare. "What are the chances of that?"

"Yeah, I know. I didn't believe it myself at first… but the thing is dead and he's-"

Dean snatched the phone out of her hands and held it to his ear. "Sam."

"Dean!" Elliott hissed worry and anger lacing her tone. She went to try and snatch it back but he turned away from her. "Don't you dare-"

"Yeah, uh, okay." Dean answered his brother's voice that only he could hear. Ignoring Elliott's attempts at stealing her phone back. One hand held out not letting her get close enough. "Yeah, she's okay. Just about to drop her off at her truck and she'll-" Dean visibly cringed at whatever Sam had said, making Elliott halt her attempts at getting the phone to try and read his face.

"-because she needed to rest. I swear she-" Dean sighed and rubbed his temple. "Well, kinda-" He paused. "No, not badly." He looked down at her mind racing trying to decide if he should or even could lie for her at this point, before giving up with a sigh. "It was a djinn."

Now she could hear Sam's worried shouting although still unable to make it out. "Dammit Dean! What the Hell?" She hissed at him trying to grab the phone again.

He was able to avoid her hands although gave her an apologetic grimace. "Sam. Sam!" Dean snapped trying to get his little brother to calm down. "She's fine! I swear. I drove her back to the motel because she lost some blood and I didn't want her driving the truck." He rolled his eyes at her pointed glare before answering Sam's unheard question. "Yeah, yeah. She's standing right next to me giving me a death glare. She's safe I promise." Dean sighed again and gave a 'yeah' to whatever Sam had said and handed the phone over to her.

"Were you going to tell me any of this, Ellie? A damn djinn had you. You got hurt." Sam's voice was gentle but accusing. "Are you okay? What happened?"

"I didn't- I-" She turned to give Dean a bitch face that could rival his brother's and sighed.

"What motel are you in? I can be there in… damnit fourteen hours?" Sam cursed on the other end of the phone and she could hear russleing that she was sure was him packing up his stuff.

"Wait, wait, stop." Elliott forced him to halt and listen. "Sam, I'm really okay. I promise. I am sorry I didn't tell you. I just didn't want you to worry, because really I am fine." She comforted him although the memory of the djinn dream had her heart aching. The last image she had saying goodbye to that life and her brother for a third time.

"Ellie, please. I can meet you there, I'm so sorry I wasn't there. Damnit I should have been there."

"Hey. Stop it. I was the one who went out on my own. I didn't want to mess with what we started, and unless you have changed your mind about wanting to be a team again…?" Elliott waited a moment but continued. "Then I will meet you back- home- and we can continue out apple pie life. Okay?" She hesitated saying home but meant it a little more than before she left. For the first time since she was a kid the image of having a home and a normal apple pie life didn't sound too ridiculous. All it took was being captured and drained by a djinn, she thought sarcastically.

"Ellie…" Sam's voice sounded so sad it hurt.

"Giant, you know I love you right?" Elliott sighed her heart aching and needing to be close to him as well. "I just didn't want you to worry over something that was said and done."

"I love you too, Ellie." He sighed loudly giving in to her yet again. "Fine, I'll wait for you here but I want to hear everything when you get back. Deal?"

Elliott frowned at the compromise but knew it was fair and agreed. They said goodbye and planned to see each other in just fourteen hours. "Love you too Giant." She smiled feeling a little warmer and more like herself after just talking to him.

That warm and fuzzy feeling stayed with her until they pulled up to her pickup. Or, what was left of her pickup. It was demolished and literally on fire. As well as the lake house behind it. A fire truck looked like it had just arrived and firefighters were pulling out a long hose.

"Shit." Dean cursed inhaling deep and eyes going even wider.

"What the fuck?!" Elliott gasped. "No, no, no, no." She dove for the door handle of the Impala about to sprint out and run to The Beast, her truck.

"Elliot, no." Dean ordered grabbing her wrist and holding her there before she could get out of the Impala.

"Damnit Dean let me go!" Elliott swiveled in her seat giving him a frantic confused glare. "What the Hell are you doing? That's my truck, that's Max's truck! I have to-"

"Elle." Dean's gravely tone and the painful sympathetic look on his face made her hesitate and stop attempting to yank her wrist from his grasp.

"Elle, think. What do you smell?" Dean looked into her eyes trying to get her to see reason. She balked thrown off by his question, it took her a moment to comply and smell the smokey sulfur tainted air.

"Sulfur…" She mumbled mind moving slowly.

"Demons. I don't know how they found out we were here, but we gotta get you out of here before they see us."

Elliott blinked slowly her jaw slack and eyes wide and hurt. "Leave? Leave The Beast? We can't- I can't- I can't just leave him."

"Elliott use your head!" Dean barked his grip on her wrist tightened almost painfully. "This is a trap. They are trying to get you. A truck is not worth your life. They will hand you over to Lucifer with a damn bow. I promised you I wouldn't let that happen and I am keeping that promise, you hear me?"

"But-" Elliott shuttered starting to understand his point, but hating it. "That's- that's Max's truck. Dean it's…"

Pain flash across his face followed by sympathy. "I know sweetheart, I know." It hurt him knowing just how much The Beast meant to her, to Max. But he also knew Max, he wouldn't want her to risk her life just for his truck. Nothing was worth his baby sister getting hurt and captured again. That was another thing he and Max had in common.

Her eyes filled up but nothing escaped. "Dee… it's all I have left of him…"

The statement was both very true and very painful.

"I'm so sorry Elle." Dean's insides crumbled the more he continued to look into her broken hazel eyes, but he didn't look away. Needing to let her know that he did indeed understand, exactly how much he was asking of her.

She felt like her breath was suck out of her and her gut was hollowed out, but she closed the door from the inch she had gotten open before she was stopped.

"Can we just go?" Elliott asked flatly. She was so very tired of crying. Tired of being sad and tired of the way her heart ripped itself to pieces so often.

"Yeah, yeah." Dean cleared his throat and slowly pulled away. Glancing over at her as she watched the last piece of her brother smolder and fade into the distance.

There was a painful hole in her chest that ached as she could do nothing but stare out the windshield of the Impala. Watching the very last thing she had of Max burn. As Dean turned the Impala around, she turned to watch through the back window as Max's truck fire began to escalate. Nothing to do but watch the fire fighters ignore The Beast's flames to attend to the bigger fire at the lake house. She watched until the fire was a blur, and then kept watching until she was no longer able to make out the smoke in the sky.

It was a silent drive with only the low thrum of the radio to add to the rumbling Impala. Neither of them spoke until almost five hours into the drive, and Dean only spoke up because he was pulling off into an exit. Their day may not have started early but it was a long and exhausting few days, and he was ready for a break. He wanted both of them to get a good night's rest for once, instead of driving through the night to get Elliott back to Sam.

"Where are we?" Elliott questioned confused as Dean pulled up to another cheap motel at the edge of the city. It was much more populated than the small towns they would normally stay at to solve cases. So many people and cars were still out and about as the last rays of the sun beyond the horizon were masking the sky into a dark purple. "We can't be there yet."

"Eh, halfway there." Dean shrugged and got out of the Impala. "If I go any further without a few hours of sleep, I'm going to crash Baby." He sighed, it wasn't totally a lie, he was exhausted after racing to save Elliott from the djinn, he was kept awake by her nightmares. Not to mention having to race out of town to avoid any demons finding her. So yeah, he was exhausted, but he could also see the dark rings appearing under Elliott's eyes as well. They both needed to get some real sleep, that wasn't across the Impala's leather bench seats.

Getting out of the Impala and going around to meet him at the trunk she could only nod, not able to deny her own exhaustion. Just yesterday she had lost a great deal of blood, and with the emotional rollercoaster today had been she could probably sleep where she stood. She took her old ratty duffel from Dean glad that he had the thought to snag it from the truck when he saved her.

Once Dean had the room keys in hand they made their way past a couple on the sidewalk to their room, but a man stepped in their way blocking them from their room door. "Excuse me, friend. Have you thought about God's plans for you?"

Elliott avoided eye contact making sure not to look at all interested and side stepped around him without a response. Dean on the other hand couldn't help but huff a laugh and make a snarky comment.

Literally the second they walked into the room Dean's phone went off. Castiel was in need of his assistance apparently, but Dean refused to right away. Telling the angel that he was human and required sleep, that maybe when he had dropped her off with Sam, he could assist him. Elliott didn't hear how the angel responded because she was in desperate need of a shower. When she dried off and dressed in sleep shorts and a tee shirt Dean was still on the phone. Only this time she realized was been talking to Sam.

Because Elliott was having such a shitty time Dean took mercy on her and called Sam for her. Knowing she wasn't in the mood to talk to anyone, he took it upon himself to call his brother letting him know what had happened and that he would be driving her back to him. Also updating Sam that they only made it half way before he felt they need to pull over to find a motel and let her rest. Dean was worried about her and Sam could pick up on that too easily.

She didn't even try to ease drop on the phone call, just flipped mindlessly through the channels on the television. Eventually settling on a random sitcom and spacing out. Dean interrupted her numbness to hand her his phone. She slowly unwrapped her arms from around herself to take the it.

Hearing from Sam helped, much more than she thought possible. He even planned to talking to Bobby about towing what was left of the pickup to his salvage yard when it was able to be released. Which might be awhile as police had apparently found her hidden compartment of weapons and had started an investigation. They still had to be careful just in case demons were waiting for her to come get the pickup anyway but it was a small comfort that she might be able to see it again. Sam always knew how to make her feel better, even in impossible situations. She missed him so much, and wanted it to be tomorrow already, so she could see him again. Saying goodnight and promising to see one another tomorrow they hung up. She fell asleep with a much lighter heart than she had thought was possible earlier that day.
