Rubedo had to be restrained for three days the first time he'd seen a Standard unit infected by U-DO's wavelength.
Not seen. Felt.
He'd been telepathically linked with Unit No. 227 at the time. He'd felt the malignant energy brush against the weaker model's mind, and even at a remove Rubedo had been filled with revulsion. He'd cut the contact immediately.
But not before he'd felt his older sibling's body begin twisting, bone and flesh snapping into a new shape. He would never forget the sensation of 227's blood congealing in his veins.
Rubedo learned to keep the screams inside.
