Weiss had to process what Ironwood told her as the two approached a bullhead headed for mantle. "You think my predecessor, Toa Nuju, is in mantle." She asked for clarification. "Krayix told me of the fighting style Nuju used. Also, Krayix told me that your father would try to prevent you from doing your duties as a toa." The general said. "you're welcome to stay at the atlas military barracks." "Thank you general. That's much appreciated." Weiss said
Weiss watched as the citizens of mantle sneered at the atlas personnel as they patrolled the streets. "General, why are you using drones to patrol the streets." Weiss asked. "well, toa Weiss I sent them to make sure peace is kept whenever you're in atlas. I'm sure your duties extend to mantle correct." Ironwood said. "Yes, but while I appreciate the help. I don't think it helps the people of mantle's opinion of you. Nor my master's." Weiss said.
"Why?" the general asked with a raised eyebrow. "He's not fond of mechanical enforcers." The Toa Vale of ice said. "like the so called Vahki you spoke of?" ironwood asked. Weiss nodded. "I see, I'll try to phase them out of defending mantle with normal troops toa Weiss." He said
"Thank you." Weiss said as some civilians ran from a store carrying some goods. "Stop thieves!" the store owner yelled. "Perfect timing for your first intervention as a toa." Ironwood said before Weiss dashed forward Myrtenaster still attached to her hip. 'She's that fast without using glyphs?!' Ironwood thought in shock. 'just what training did she do with Krayix?"
Weiss shot past thieves with a gust of wind making them stumble. "What was that?." One said before turning to face the point of a rapier. "I suggest you return the goods you stole or this will hurt really bad." The toa Vale of Ice said sheathing her weapon dropping into her ice stance.
"What's a teenage girl like you going to…" the robber said before getting kicked in the gut. The rest looked at him before back at the one who kicked him. "Well, anyone else want to fight me?" the toa asked. The bandits shook their heads no and proceeded to return the stolen goods while dragging their unconscious associate. "I better not catch you stealing again." Weiss yelled.
Unaware to her, the altercation had drawn a crowd. One civilian began to clap catching Weiss' attention. Soon the rest began to clap. This brought a smile to Weiss' face. "People of Mantle, I am Toa Weiss Schnee, I am well aware that you don't like the atlas military presence, but I can assure you that they WILL depart after they find the vigilante." Weiss said glaring at ironwood who nodded.
"Why do you want him?" a fox faunas asked defensively as murmurs were heard. "I can assure you that he won't be imprisoned." A civilian stepped up. "Why should we trust you 'Toa'?" Weiss closed her eyes. "I'm well aware that you don't trust me." she opened her eyes revealing them to be glowing an ice blue. However, that vigilante is an ice user like me and is thus my predecessor." Weiss' eyes widened when she felt a presence to her right. Turning her head, she caught a glimpse of what appeared to be a white golem. 'Got you.' She thought. "Toa Weiss," a young voice asked. The Schnee heiress looked down at a faunas child. "Yes kid." She said kneeling. "He's not in trouble is he?" Weiss shook her head.
"No, he isn't." she said. "I just want to help him get used to his new surroundings and explain the situation." Weiss looked at the crowd hoping to stem their worries. However, a civilian refused to believe her. "How do we know that she's telling the truth!? She's a Schnee. What good has her family done for us? Nothing." Weiss sighed. "I'm trying to forge my own path. Yes I once followed my father, but ever since I met Krayix…" Weiss sighed.
"I refuse to let my father drag my family's name in the mud anymore. I swear to you on my honor I WILL defend not just atlas, but Mantle as well." The gathered civilians pondered this. However, the same civilian opened his mouth to argue when a wise voice spoke.
"That's quite enough Leslie." The group turned to an alley where a cloaked white golem emerged from. "Nuju, she…" the civilian began. "I heard plenty." Nuju said as soldiers began to surround him. "Stand down. This is a matter between toa." Ironwood ordered.
The soldiers looked at each other but refused to lower their rifles. "Sorry general, but the atlas council has ordered the vigilante's arrest and execution." The soldier went to reach for handcuffs when ice covered his gun and hand.
"the general gave you an order soldier." Everyone turned to see Weiss with a hand outstretched ice blue aura covering her hand. The soldiers, clearly not wanting to face the wrath of one ice toa, wisely lowered their rifles. "Good choice." She said
Suddenly there was clapping. Weiss looked at the origin and saw the entire crowd had begun to cheer. Weiss smiled and bowed. "So, about Krayix." Nuju said. "Of course… where are you most comfortable to speak?"
Nuju looked around the atlas military barracks. "Sorry for the hostilities Toa Nuju." Ironwood said. "I honestly didn't know the council had ordered your arrest behind my back." Nuju looked at him. "I believe you." The Toa Metru of Ice said "Krayix always told us to never assume only question." Weiss chuckled. "That's my master for you." She said. "Master?" Nuju asked looking at her with a figurative raised eyebrow.
"Oh." Weiss said. "Krayix taught my friends and I how to wield our elemental semblances or in your case elemental powers." Nuju gave a questioning glance. "The term elemental semblance came from Krayix himself. It acts as a cover for the true nature of Weiss' elemental power." Ironwood said.
"So, what do your fellow toa call your team?" Nuju asked. "Our headmaster at Beacon coined the name Toa Vale. It kind of stuck with Krayix's approval." Weiss said. "So, where is Krayix now?" Nuju asked. "From what I've heard, he's in menagerie with Toa Blake." Ironwood said. "Toa Blake?" the toa Metru of ice questioned. "She's our team's toa of water. She's also Krayix's girlfriend." Weiss said giggling like a schoolgirl at the last part.
"Krayix finally has a girlfriend huh?" Nuju said smiling. "Good for him." Weiss' good spirits faded having not told Nuju of Krayix being a Turaga. "there's something you should know. Krayix isn't a toa anymore." She said.
"How so?" Nuju asked. "He gave up his power to save one of our team before we became toa." Weiss said. "Ruby had been paralyzed by her fall from who knows how many feet and was dying." Nuju then pieced together what this meant.
"He gave up his power to save this person called Ruby because she was to be his successor, correct?" he asked. Weiss nodded as her scroll went off. She looked at the message and saw that it was from neo.
Dear Weiss,
Yang loves the arm, but wonders if you thought of her being able to channel her elemental aura through it?
PS. We encountered two of the toa Metru. Whenua and Onewa. Yang and I's predecessors as toa. Have you?
Weiss' eyes widened. "Toa Weiss, is something wrong?" Ironwood asked. "Yang and Neo found Whenua and Onewa." She said. "Thank Mata Nui. I thought I was the only one here." Nuju said. "General, did the scientists that made yang her new arm think of her channeling aura through it?" Weiss asked. "They almost forgot before I reminded them. That's why it took so long to make." The general said. Weiss nodded before giving her reply.
MEANWHILE IN PATCH
Neo leaned against the railing of the porch waiting for Weiss' response. Not too far away was yang sparring with her dad. The Toa Vale of Earth had her robotic arm on and was holding back. Whenua and Onewa were watching yang's movements to see any faults in her stance.
Neo's scroll beeped as a message was received. She looked at it and smiled.
"Take five Luv." Neo yelled gaining both father and daughter's attention. "What is it?" the blonde brawler asked. "Weiss says ironwood reminded the scientists about you channeling aura. So, you're good." Neo said as yang grinned. "News for whenua and Onewa. Weiss found Nuju in Mantle." The two Toa Metru looked at each other
"At least we aren't the only ones." Whenua said. Onewa nodded. "Makes you wonder if the others encountered the rest of the Toa Vale." The toa Metru of earth said.
BACK IN ATLAS
"So, what now?" Nuju asked. "We wait for word about the rest of the toa Metru from the others." Weiss said.
A/N: and so ends part 1 of the ice storyline. Part two is next then its back to the earth and stone arc. Had to put yang, neo, whenua, and Onewa as part three of said storyline is next. That being said peace.
