The Darkness

Prologue

Eons ago, when the world was young and the Darkness had not yet commenced, the magical beings who we now call wizards foresaw the shadows of war, the impending conflict that would eventually consume their power. These beings therefore forged a crystal, a crystal that beheld the Light; but in doing so cast themselves into shadow.

The Crystal was created on the shore of the Belisma River. Once the Light had been enclosed into the Crystal, it was concealed in the deep waters of the forgotten river. By storing their life-force the beings condemned themselves. The water in the fruitful land of Antarctica froze, encircling the crystal. The beings left, they were unable to live in the harsh climate and protect what they once called their life.

Antarctica was covered in snow, it was a wasteland. The Belisma River was the solitary part of the isolated land that remained unfrozen. There the Crystal remained over centuries; the water calling for someone to release its light.

Over the years, the Darkness had lapsed over the lands, taking with it all hope of life beyond the years to come. The beings themselves did not know how they had weaved such a complicated web of deceit.

a/n: The theme seems to be incorporated with the Lord of the Rings trilogy, but don't worry, it does tie in to Harry Potter.. We just watched the Lord of the Rings DVDs, so what do you expect?
