Author Note: It is time for the fourth chapter of this story. I hope that you enjoy this new chapter. I was trying to post this chapter the weekend that I had off but it did not work out and that's okay since I am not posting it for you all to enjoy. I am bringing Catherine back for this chapter to help out with Steve's hunt for the truth. I managed to post two new stories that are up now. Be sure to check them out.

Chapter 4

Lexi was released from the hospital and did not know why her mother-in-law was in jail. Steve was hoping that his wife would remember what happen to her in a few days. He managed to talk to the Governor and fill him in on what is going on. Danny walked into the house the following day.

"You know that I am going to have to let your mom go in a few days." Danny revealed to his friend.

"I know and that is why I really need Lexi to remember what happen to her. I never thought that I was going to lock my mom up but she almost cost me everything that means the world to me." Steve revealed to his friend.

"I know. We can get her to admit that Lexi did not fall that she pushed her would be wonderful." Danny responded to his friend.

"Yeah it would be but she won't do it." Steve responded to him.

"What about if we use Catherine to help us. Fill her in what happen to Lexi and she might want to help." Danny offered his friend advice.

"Yeah, I think that it might be a good idea. Let's call her." Steve said as they walked to the backyard. Steve pulled out his phone and dial her number. "Hey, Catherine. Can you give me a call when you get a chance."

Danny watched as his friend hanged up the phone. He knew that Steve would hopefully gets the answers that he needs to have. Catherine returned the phone called about twenty minutes later and they headed to meet somewhere.

"Hey, thanks for meeting me." Steve said to her with a smile.

"So I heard that you need my help with something." She responded to her friend.

"As you know that Lexi is pregnant and my mom is staying with me. Danny and I both feel like Lexi's fall is more like my mom pushed her and I need your help to prove that is what happen." Steve revealed to her.

"I can help with that but are you sure that you want to do that?" She responded to her friend.

"Yeah. I need to know the truth. My mom is saying that Lexi fell when she was in the kitchen but when I looked at her phone, it showed that she was trying to call me." Steve revealed to her.

"Okay, let's find out what happen." she said to her friend.

"Let's go. We are going to have to get my mom out first and you wired so we can hold it up in court." Steve said to her with a small smile.

"Okay." She agreed to it. "Are you nervous about what we might find out?"

"Just a little bit. My mom might smell that it's a trap so you need to be careful." Steve responded to her.

"Don't worry. I know how to work your mom better than she knows how to work me." Catherine responded to him.

"Just be careful with this plan. My mom is good at telling when people are lying to her." Steve responded to her.

"Oh trust me that I know. I will figure this out for you guys. A part of me really hopes that your mother did not hurt her but I have a feeling that she did." Catherine said to her friend.

"I hope that she did not but my gut is saying that she did. All the evidence points to her doing so too." Steve revealed to her.

Later that day, Doris was sitting in her hotel room. She was expecting that her son would have let her come back to their house but there was no chance. She did not even know how Lexi was or the baby. She knew that the fall had just been an accident.

"Lexi, all you had to do was give me the phone. We would not be in this mess if you did that." She thought in her head. She was snapped out of her thoughts by her cell phone ringing and she check to see who it was.

"Hey Catherine." She greeted her caller.

"Hey, are you free?" Catherine asked her.

"Yeah, I am free. I can't believe that Steve would have me put in jail." Doris revealed to her friend.

"Do you want to meet somewhere and talk about it?" Catherine asked her.

"Sure." Doris said to her friend. She was glad that she had someone to talk to now that she was pretty sure that Steve had cut her out of her life completely.

"Let's meet at the cafe down the road from the hotel. I can be there in about an hour." Catherine suggested to her.

"Yeah that works for me. Catherine?" Doris responded back to her.

"Yeah?" Catherine responded to her friend.

"Thank you for being a good friend and being a ear to listen to." Doris responded to her friend before hanging up the phone.

Steve watched as Catherine hanged up the phone. They got ready to load up and head to the cafe since they had to find the prefect set up to tape the conversation.

"Are we sure that we are doing the right thing?" Catherine asked her friend.

"As much as I don't like it, we don't have a choice. My mom might have done something to my wife and we need to figure it out." Steve responded to her.

"I know that you do but I just don't feel right about doing this to your mom. I know that she might have put Lexi in the hospital but we don't know if she really did it." Catherine responded to him.

"I know and I don't want to believe it but it's for the best." Steve responded to her. "Let's just figure out what she has to say."

"Let's do it then." She responded to him.

"Hey, listen. If she tries to do anything to you then I am right there. You are going to be fine." Steve responded to her.

They loaded up and headed to find out what is going to happen. Catherine was starting to get meeting his mother. She knew that she could read people like a book cover. Catherine waited for about five minutes before Doris walked in and sat down.

"So did my son tell you about what happen to his wife?" Doris asked her.

"No, what happen?" Catherine asked her.

"I was trying to convince her to leave my son so that way he can get back to his true love which is you and she went to go call Steve. I went to reach for the phone and she pushed me. I had to lie to my son about what happen." Doris revealed to her not knowing that her son was listening on the other end.

"Why not tell him what happen?" Catherine asked her.

"I can not because my son knows that I want you two to be together. There is something about Lexi that I don't trust. I think that my son can do so much better than her." Doris revealed to her.

"What happen if the baby would have died?" Catherine asked her. "That baby is still your grandchild no matter what you feel about the mother."

"I would still feel bad for both of them. The baby is innocent in Lexi's destroying your relationship with my son." Doris responded to her.

"But we broke up way before Steve met her. She makes him happy. Just accept their marriage and move on from it." Catherine said before getting up.

"Catherine where are you going?" Doris asked her before watching her get up and walk out of the room. A few minutes went by before the HPD walked into the cafe.

"Miss, can you please stand up and put your hands behind your back?" the officer said to her.

"No, I will not. I am sure you know who my son is." Doris responded to him. "He is Steven John McGarrett and he is the head of the five 0 task force."

"Oh we know who your son is. He is the reason that we are here to arrest you. You just admitted to pushing his pregnant wife down and sending her to the hospital. It's up to Lexi and the DA if they are going to press charges." The officer said as he helped Doris out of her seat.

"Doris McGarrett, you are under arrest." He said before reading her the Miranda rights as she watched her son come out of the back room with Catherine.

"You! I can't believe that you did this to me. I am your mother." She said to her son.

"You lied to me and told me that my wife had fell on her own. I knew that you did not like my wife but this time, you went to far." Steve said to her as he watched her turn her attention to Catherine.

"Catherine, I can't believe that you did this to me. I wanted you and my son together." Doris revealed to her.

"Steve and I are nothing more than friends now. It's time for you to accept that. It's time for you to accept that your son is married to Lexi and they are going to have a child together." Catherine responded before they watched the officer take Steve's mother away.

"So what is next?" Catherine asked him.

"Now we wait for the DA and Lexi to decide if they are going to press charges. The only problem is that Lexi doesn't remember what happen to her." Steve responded to her.

"Steve, don't worry about it. We will figure it out." Catherine responded to her friend with a smile.
